Trump Tweets #Covfefe At Midnight

 photo covfefe.jpg

On the same day it was reported that Trump's lawyers want to screen all his tweets, he made one of his funniest tweet gaffes ever!

Just after midnight, he let loose a strange sentence fragment complaining about press coverage, only the last word was the mysterious "Covfefe." The word trended all night and yet no one from the White House could delete it because Trump apparently fell asleep with his phone (maybe while sitting on the toilet?).

 photo 6a942caa-ae07-4956-a251-8ca8073ac501.png

Twitter immediately exploded with hilarious memes. Note that the word "Rosebud" was also trending at the same time - that is the last word in the film Citizen Kane spoken by the main character, an extremely wealthy but unhappy man who was remembering a sled he left in the snow on his last happy day of childhood. The cryptic parallel was obvious and made by twitter fans over and over.

UPDATE: Donald Trump chose not to explain the next day what he meant by "Covfefe," merely tweeting:

It was the unfortunate Spokesman Sean Spicer who came out for his daily press briefing to suffer questions about the Trump tweet, giving it a note of high seriousness that "Covfefe" did not deserve.

"The president and a small group of people know exactly what he meant." ~ Sean Spicer

Hillary Clinton quipped:

And later Hillary tweeted this retort:

Irving Texas Arrests Muslim Kid Too Smart for Irving Texas

 photo bomb-batman.gif

14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed has a bright future as a scientist of tomorrow. But until yesterday his high school in Irving, Texas, merely thought of him as "That Muslim Kid" or "Who?"

Now they won't ever forget his name. And they'll never live down what they did to him.

See, this smart kid made a clock and took it to school. Some hysterical and stupid teacher thought it was a BOMB. However, no bomb squad was ever called, and the school wasn't evacuated. But the principal and police still interrogated this boy without his parents beside him for two hours. Over a clock that wasn't a bomb.

By the middle of the day, the obviously frightened child in a NASA t-shirt was handcuffed, arrested, and taken to jail. For being smart. And Muslim. And unfortunately for Irving, Texas, what they did there infuriated most of the known world as the hashtag #IStandWithAhmed trended for 24 hours. Now he has been invited to the White House, NASA, MIT, Harvard, Twitter, Facebook - you name it! Ahmed's story has a totally happy ending. Irving, Texas, not so much.

From the New York Times
HOUSTON — Ahmed Mohamed’s homemade alarm clock got him suspended from his suburban Dallas high school and detained and handcuffed by police officers on Monday after school officials accused him of making a fake bomb. By Wednesday, it had brought him an invitation to the White House, support from Hillary Rodham Clinton and Mark Zuckerberg, and a moment of head-spinning attention as questions arose whether he had been targeted because of his name and his religion.
. . . The thing in question was the product of Ahmed’s love of invention. He made the clock out of a metal briefcase-style box, a digital display, wires and a circuit board. It was bigger and bulkier than a typical bedside clock, with cords, screws and electrical components.

He said he took it to school on Monday to show an engineering teacher, who said it was nice but then told him he should not show the invention to other teachers. Later, Ahmed’s clock beeped during an English class, and after he revealed the device to the teacher, school officials notified the police, and Ahmed was interrogated by officers.
“She thought it was a threat to her,” Ahmed told reporters Wednesday. “So it was really sad that she took a wrong impression of it.”

Non-Scientist Rick Santorum Slams Scientific Pope

Rick Santorum thinks Pope Francis, leader of the Catholic Church, should stop speaking out on scientific matters. He said last week:

Via Addicting Info
“The church has gotten it wrong a few times on science, and I think that we probably are better off leaving science to the scientists,” he told the Pope. “I think when we get involved with controversial political and scientific theories, then I think the church is probably not as forceful and credible. And I’ve said this to the bishops many times when they get involved in agriculture policy or things like that, that are really outside the scope of what the church’s main message is.”

Here's what Santorum either didn't know or simply forgot - Pope Francis has a school background in Chemistry. That's right, SCIENCE. Unlike Mr. Santorum and most politicians in the U.S.

According to Snopes.com, while the Pope does not have a "Masters" in Chemistry, he did graduate with the equivalent of a Community College degree as a Chemical Technician.

From the Natinoal Catholic Reporter
It is true that Pope Francis studied chemistry and worked as a chemist prior to entering the seminary. But Jorge Bergoglio never graduated from university prior to entering the seminary.
. . . What he did do was graduate with a título in chemistry from the Escuela Técnica Industrial No. 12*, which is a state-run technical secondary school.
In the Argentine system, "the título (same word used for a secondary diploma or a university degree) was earned at about age 19 after an extended secondary program," Liebscher said. "Not everyone who goes to secondary school gets one of those diplomas, and the título really represents something beyond our high-school diploma, something akin a certificate from a community college in the U.S."

A "diploma" that is post-high school qualifies as a "degree" in the U.S., right?

Even after the gaffe was pointed out to Santorum, he still tried to double down on the Pope. But in a surprisingly tough interview with Chris Wallace of Fox News on Sunday, Santorum was caught without a defense.

From Forward Progressives
“If he’s not a scientist, and in fact he does have a degree in Chemistry – neither are you,” Wallace said. “Somewhere between 80 and 90 percent of scientists who have studied this say that humans, human activity, contribute to climate change.” “So, I guess the question should be, if he shouldn’t talk about it, should you?,” he asked.
“We have to make public policy with regard to the environmental policy,” Santorum said before being cut off by Wallace.
“But you’re not a scientist, you said leave the science to the scientists,” Wallace shot back.

Clueless Tom Cotton: Iran Captured Tehran From ... Iran

Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas), the supposed author of the now-infamous Iran Letter signed by the #47Traitors in the #GOP led Senate, went on a Sunday talk show and displayed an utter lack of knowledge about the history of Iran and the Persian Empire. Did you know that Iran already controls Tehran, their own capitol? OMG - how did this happen? And Iran is also in control of everything from Beirut to Baghdad - everything! Well, not really . . .

From Think Progress
But when asked by Face the Nation’s Bob Schieffer what better outcome Cotton expects if a White House-led deal falls through, Cotton seemed to make a key geographic mistake . . .

Bob Schieffer (Face the Nation): What do you want to happen here? What is your alternative here? Let’s say that the deal falls through, then what?

Sen. Tom Cotton: Well as Prime Minister Netanyahu said, the alternative to a bad deal is a better deal. The Iranians frequently bluff to walk away from the table. if they bluff this week, call their bluff. The Congress stands ready to impose much more severe sanctions. Moreover we have to stand up to Iran’s attempts to drive for regional dominance.
They already control Tehran increasingly they control Damascus and Beirut and Baghdad and now Sana’a as well. They do all that without a nuclear weapon. imagine what they would do with a nuclear weapon.

Schieffer went on to ask Cotton whether he had any regrets at all about the letter. So he didn’t clarify with Cotton what he meant by his comment that Iran has “control” of its own capital.

The Quotes Prove That GOP Can't Stop the Stupid Train

Photobucket

Oh No, Idaho!

The insurance companies are creating their own tombs. Much like the Jews boarding the trains to concentration camps, private insurers are used by the feds to put the system in place because the federal government has no way to set up the exchange.

BOISE – Coeur d’Alene Sen. John Goedde, chairman of the Idaho Senate’s Education Committee, introduced legislation Tuesday to require every Idaho high school student to read Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” and pass a test on it to graduate from high school.
When Sen. Bob Nonini, R-Coeur d’Alene, asked Goedde why he chose that particular book, Goedde said to laughter, “That book made my son a Republican.”
. . . In recent years, the novel has been touted by conservative commentators including Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.
“When I read Atlas Shrugged, and it’s been probably 30 years since I read it, but it certainly gives one a sense of personal responsibility,” Goedde said.

Cousins of Todd Akin Need to Shut That Whole Thing Down

I’m beginning to get some evidence from certain doctors and certain scientists that have done research on women’s wombs after they’ve gone through the surgery, and they’ve compared the wombs of women who were on the birth control pill to those who were not on the birth control pill. And they have found that with women who are on the birth control pill, there are these little tiny fetuses, these little babies, that are embedded into the womb. They’re just like dead babies. They’re on the inside of the womb. And these wombs of women who have been on the birth control pill effectively have become graveyards for lots and lots of little babies.
~ Kevin Swanson on the "State of the Womb" via Right Wing Watch

State Sen. Jim Tracy, R-Shelbyville, (TN) has filed a measure that would require women to undergo a “transabdominal ultrasound” and wait at least 24 hours before going forward with an abortion.
. . . “My wife had three babies, and I’ve had the opportunity to see three ultrasounds,” Tracy said. “It’s pretty amazing to see the ultrasounds.”
Critics say the bill calls for a procedure that could be technically unfeasible. Transabdominal ultrasounds, in which a probe is rubbed across the pregnant woman’s belly, often cannot produce an image of a fetus or detect a heartbeat in the first trimester, when the vast majority of abortions take place.

Boy Scout Jamboree of Stupid

. . . if the Boy Scouts open up Camp Sandusky, if the homosexuals are invited into the Boy Scouts to be scout leaders, I would hope there are some families out there that would still be concerned. And not to say that the Gospel shouldn’t make it, tell the homosexuals, they’ve…again, people have come back to us and say, ‘You guys aren’t very loving, you’re not very loving, you know, you don’t want to reach out to these people.’ Just the fact that we don’t want child molesters coming out of our prison system and working with our Boy Scouts doesn’t mean we don’t want people going into the prison system and witnessing the Gospel to the child molesters. I think people have a hard time getting two things in their mind at the same time. Just the fact that you don’t want a serial killer, you know, in your preschool taking care of your little girls and boys doesn’t mean that you don’t love them enough to bring the Gospel to them.
~ Radio Host Kevin Swanson of Generations Radio, via Right Wing Watch

. . . the Boy Scouts are not of the popular culture. They haven’t transformed themselves to keep up with what is cool or trending, so in the mind of the intolerant liberal mind they must be forced to conform.
. . . Scouting may not survive this transformation of American society, but for the sake of the average boy in America, I hope the board of the Scouts doesn’t have its fingerprints on the murder weapon.

Trump Trippin' About Immigration

Eric Cantor ~ Failure to Rebrand

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor took this don’tworry-be-happy strategy seriously, and in a heavily promoted “major” speech to the American Enterprise Institute on Tuesday afternoon, he let the sun shine in.
. . . But the sunny routine was a difficult one for Cantor, who has made a career in Washington of being testy and acidic. His delivery was forced and, as he read his text, he seemed to be reminding himself to grin. As a result, he scowled for much of the speech and sounded as though he were spitting out his words. Smiles formed at inopportune times, such as when he described a boy’s failure in public school.
~ Dana Milbank on Washington Post

Eric Cantor wants to rebrand his Party, and today he pitched a kinder, gentler GOP.
Cantor: "Our goal is to make sure every American has a fair shot to success."
A fair shot to success. I have to admit, I like the sound of that. Come to think of it, that sounds familiar. Where have I heard that before?
Obama: "Well it starts by making sure everyone in America gets a fair shot at success."
A fair shot of success! Of course! That's from the President's famous speech on economic fairness given in Kansas back in 2011. It was a speech that defined his campaign for reelection and his fight for the Middle Class.
Mr. Cantor must have taped that speech because today he hit the same points using the same language, again and again.
. . . Imitation is really the sincerest form of flattery. But here's the catch - the rhetoric might have changed, but the philosophy, not so much.

Ted Nugent is Revolting

Photobucket

Previous Posts:

Draft-Dodger, Gun Nut and Rocker Ted Nugent, calling for armed Revolution against President Obama
I’m part of a very great experiment in self-government where we the people determine our own pursuit of happiness and our own individual freedom and liberty, not to be confused with the Barack Obama gang who believes in we the sheeple and actually is attempting to re-implement the tyranny of King George that we escaped from in 1776.

If you want another Concord Bridge, I got some buddies.

Here is what's wrong with America today. We have a president, and everybody better write this down, and memorize this. The president of the United States goes to the Vietnam Memorial Wall and pretends to honor 58,000 American heroes who died fighting communism and then he hires, appoints and associates with communists. He pretends to pay honor to men who died fighting communism, and then he hangs out with, hires and appoints communists.

He is an evil dangerous man who hates America and hates freedom. And we need to fix this as soon as possible.

Do we have to go over this again? Nugent and his buddies would be utterly wiped out. Full stop. Actually, they might as well be threatening to ride velociraptors into the White House, armed with magic wands and accompanied by Space Monkey Gleek. It’s just that ridiculous. The whole notion of an armed revolt and secession from the United States failed miserably in 1865, and the revolutionaries at that time were headed by skilled West Point commanders like JEB Stuart and Robert E. Lee who directed massive armies. These gun nutjobs today have — who? — octogenarian D-list electric guitar player Ted Nugent and a gaggle of his redneck disciples. Good luck, boys.
~ Bob Cesca on The Daily Banter

Ted Nugent is making a threat to the President and no one is talking about it because they continue to undervalue the life of a Black person. This man would be made an example of and lock in jail if the President was white. He would be afraid to make such threats if that was the case. So he feels as though no one will do anything to him. He can rile up as many crazies as he wants and not be punish for it. This man along with Donald Trump and Shawn Hannity is the face of racism.

Clownish Mitch McConnell Filibusters Himself in Historic Senate First

Photobucket

Story from Mediaite
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) may have made United States senate history today when he beat his own legislative baloney, blocking a straight up-or-down vote on a proposal that he, himself, offered for a vote Thursday morning. The bill, which would have taken the debt ceiling gun away from the head of the U.S. economy by requiring a two-thirds majority to override a presidential increase to the debt ceiling, was McConnell’s idea, but when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid agreed with McConnell’s request for a vote on the bill Thursday afternoon, McConnell objected.

The Republican leader objects to his own idea. So I guess we have a filibuster of his own bill.
~ Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, via TPM

This may be a moment in Senate history when a senator … filibustered his own proposal. I don’t think this has ever happened before.

It's like they set out to demonstrate why exactly the filibuster as currently used is insane. "What if someone proposes a bill, and the Senate leader then actually lets people vote on it? Because he is fiendish! Then the person who proposed the bill would need to hold a filibuster to stop that bill. Because we have to STOP STUFF FROM GETTING DONE! And that's why we need the silent filibuster. The talking one would be mega inconvenient, when the chamber gets all nutjobby about voting on stuff we proposed just this morning."

GOP Nutters Can't Let Go of Imaginary ACORN

Photobucket

From Public Policy Polling:
December 04, 2012
Republicans not handling election results well
PPP's first post election national poll finds that Republicans are taking the results pretty hard...and also declining in numbers.
49% of GOP voters nationally say they think that ACORN stole the election for President Obama. We found that 52% of Republicans thought that ACORN stole the 2008 election for Obama, so this is a modest decline, but perhaps smaller than might have been expected given that ACORN doesn't exist anymore.

Photobucket

From Think Progress
The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) was at the center of anti-Obama energy in 2008, when Republicans cited some faulty registration forms obtained by ACORN as proof of voter fraud. The charge was particularly potent, since Obama hired one of the organizations associated with ACORN to run voter turnout for him in the primary.
But in 2010, ACORN filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy, putting an end to the community organizing effort altogether. Still, the fact that ACORN no longer exists hasn’t stopped the group from serving its role as scapegoat. Fifty two percent of Republicans blamed ACORN for Obama’s win in 2008, saying that they “stole” the election for him. That number only dropped by 3 percent, and 49 percent blame ACORN this time around.

We've all been in groups of people, maybe 8-10 people, and one of the people in this group is character-disordered. They're a real sociopath. And over time if you can't get rid of them right away, they warp the dynamic of the group around their complaints and their sheer craziness. These people are that person in our national conversation. They're the crazy uncle at the table and you have to listen to his paranoid stories or he starts throwing food against the wall.
~ Ron Reagan on Hardball

Do you understand this? Half of the Republican Party is is legitimately, technically, certifiably insane. 49% this election!
"Oh well" (they say) "We didn't lose this - Obama stole the election! Yeah, yeah - that's what happened. He stole it, yeah, he stole it from the Queen and gave it to the Bishop. That's what he did, yeah, yeah."
And who stole it?
"Well, the guys from Venus landed, obviously, on the big ship from ACORN. Yeah, ACORN, ACORN. Yeah, they got nuts over there - eeeeh!?
