Erick Erickson - Misogynist Hypocrite Tells Haters to Back Off

After Megyn Kelly of Fox News asked Donald Trump why he was so mean to women all the time, he spent the next few days on Twitter and in the media verbally slapping her around, even implying that she was hormonally challenged to dare ask him such a pointed question.

Up rode Erick Erickson, white GOP pundit on a white horse, to the rescue of the fair-white maiden in distress. He banished Trump from an event sponsored by his website, Red State, while allowing other Republican candidates to use the event to campaign against the Donald.

ATLANTA -- Donald Trump was supposed to be the keynote speaker at the RedState Gathering here, a convocation of the hard-core conservative activists who read the influential blog edited by Erick Erickson. But when Trump said on CNN late Friday that debate moderator and Fox News host Megyn Kelly had “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever,” Erickson, who is a Fox News contributor, announced he had disinvited Trump from the conference. “There are just real lines of decency a person running for President should not cross,” Erickson wrote.

Decency towards women would be nice, yes. But Erickson has a problem with women.

In 2012, when Michelle Obama, Lilly Ledbetter and Tammy Duckworth spoke at the Democratic National Convention, he labeled it the "Vagina Monologues." Last year he started calling Texas Rep. Wendy Davis "Abortion Barbie" during her run for Governor. He has also written that since humans are animals, and males in the animal kingdom are usually dominant, then it was right and proper for men to dominate women in our society. The little women should stay out of the workplace, while men remained the breadwinners. It didn't even seem to matter to Erickson that this unequal view has always been backwards, that women in every society often function as breadwinners (or breadmakers, or bread sellers), or that many human societies are matriarchal, or that many animals are even matriarchal, Erickson just wanted every woman to know he was superior and dominant.

So Erickson doesn't mind using anti-women rhetoric when it suits him. He can out-Misogynist Trump any day. He's a big-mouthed Tea Party War-On-Women Evangelical Jerk. So riding up to "help" Kelly with Trump in an act of rank hypocrisy.

Even this week, his website called Hillary Clinton a "homely" woman who "slept her way to power." What a gent!



The Atlantic called Erickson out about his misogyny:

. . . Molly Ball: Critics note that you also have a history of nasty and misogynistic comments. Do you really have any standing to judge Trump?
Erickson: You know, I’ve said some pretty stupid shit in the past, and I’ve apologized for it. I didn’t deny that I ever said it, I didn’t claim that my Twitter account was hacked. I apologized, said I was wrong, and had to deal with it. Trump’s reaction is, “I said whatever, not wherever.” No, he didn’t. I listened to the tape twice. I played it for the audience; they got the full context of it.
 

Yes, what Trump said about Kelly was despicable. But Erickson was the wrong champion to try and right the wrong.







And now it has backfired on him with his own true followers on Red State, which is poetic justice indeed. Even a week after the debate and when his event with the GOP candidates was over, Erickson was still getting horrible vitriolic hate mail on his website, and it upset is wittle feelings.





He appealed to his haters to just back off, because hate is not the answer. But clearly he has attracted such haters for years, being a hater himself.

. . . Conservatives have a real and legitimate reason to be pissed off at the GOP. Polling suggests conservatives hate the Republicans in Washington more than Democrats hate the Republicans in Washington. That anger has galvanized conservatives and pushed them toward Donald Trump. To his credit, he has capitalized on that anger.
But folks, this is anger at an unhealthy level. It is anger that has gone beyond the righteous anger of repeated betrayals from Washington. It is an anger that has become unhinged and is potentially uncontrollable. Anger at that level is more often destructive than constructive.

Ya think? Oh, boo hoo. Erickson has been rabble-rousing these same sad people for years, so he can dish it out but he can't take it. And he's surprised that they quote scripture to him? He has a scripture listed on his twitter, where he rants about "Abortion Barbie." His hate-filled screeds against Michelle Obama as a "Marxist Harpy Wife" are sprinkled among Sunday School stories of his kids. He prays for Democrats while rubbing their faces with his manure.

This is what happens when a pundit has been paid by both CNN and Fox to spew acid for years, even while bragging about what a good Christian he is. Total cognitive dissonance about his own point of view. He is as tone-deaf as Huckabee about the Duggar family incest.

And Trump? None of this is hurting him with possible voters - he is sailing along at the top of the polls. Sorry, Erick Son of Erick.

Haslam Medicaid Plan Halted in Tennessee by Koch Brothers

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam stalled and waffled for two years while trying to come up with a way to expand Medicaid in Tennessee without starting a Tea Party frenzy. Last year it was obvious that the ill-fated TennCare wasn't working, but he waited until after the November elections to bring up his new plan "Insure Tenn." There was even a hint of optimism in the air last week, as hospital officials, doctors, nurses, the the disabled came to Nashville to testify before the Legislature that insuring the poorest of the poor would be good for everyone.

But they were outnumbered by loonies, including a crazy lay-preacher from Dayton, Tennessee - of Scopes Monkey Trial fame - to pray against Medicaid because it's just big government trying to oppress sick people. Just embarrassing and sad.










And another group showed up - Americans For Prosperity - goons backed by the Koch Brothers, sent to remind the Tennessee GOP where it's money comes from. Thus the Insure TN plan was doomed, and never got out of committee for a vote.

NASHVILLE-In December, Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, a Republican, got the deal he wanted from the Obama administration: Tennessee would accept more than $1 billion in federal funding to expand Medicaid, as allowed for in the Affordable Care Act, but Obama aides would allow Haslam to essentially write staunchly conservative ideas into the program's rules for the state. He dubbed the reformed Medicaid program "Insure Tennessee."

But the state's chapter of Americans for Prosperity, the national conservative group whose foundation is chaired by controversial billionaire David Koch, argued Haslam was just trying to trick conservatives into implementing Obamacare in their state by giving it a new name. AFP campaigned aggressively Haslam's plans for the next six weeks, even running radio ads blasting GOP state legislators who said they might vote for it.

When the legislators walked into a hearing Tuesday morning to debate the measure, they looked out from the dais to a room packed with more than 100 people wearing red "Americans for Prosperity" t-shirts. Some of the activists had traveled on an AFP-chartered bus from Knoxville, more than two hours away, to pack the hearing well in advance of its 9:00 AM start time. . . . The sea of red crowded out representatives of the Tennessee Hospital Association, one of the big advocates of the Medicaid expansion, who were left to stand in the back or unable to get into the room at all.

And what did the AFP activists have to say for themselves?
“I’m skeptical of government-run programs,” said Louis Stans, a retired engineer who was part of the AFP group. Medicare, Stans said, was “better” and he had “paid into it my whole life.”
Those two sentences tell us a great deal about the state of the debate. Here’s a retiree who doesn’t like government-run programs, instead preferring a government-run program. In other words, an AFP activist traveled to the state capitol to condemn a conservative version of Medicaid expansion, because what he really wants is a socialized system like Medicare.
Levi Russell, a national spokesperson for Americans for Prosperity, told NBC News, “I would hope other governors look at Tennessee as an example.”

And just like the government-paid goons in our national Congress who keep trying to "Repeal Obamacare," the Republicans in Tennessee have no other plan for the poor except to bill the hospitals. They got nothing.

However, Gov. Haslam, to his credit, isn't dropping the subject. He mentioned coverage for the poorest citizens in his State of the State Address. This may seem like lip service, but I actually think he means it. Whether he can persuade the Tea Party to actually vote for something that will help the state is debatable. They'd rather talk about Guns and the Bible.

“Last week, the decision was made not to move forward with Insure Tennessee. However, that does not mean the issues around health care go away. Too many Tennesseans are still not getting health coverage they need in the right way, in the right place, at the right time,” Haslam said in his address to top lawmakers.
“Last week, I talked about coming here not just to make a point but to make a difference. It’s about looking for answers, not just having an agenda. With great power comes great responsibility. So, though the special session has ended, I hope we can find a way to work together to address those problems,” he said.

Many feminist and emo lefties have their panties in a wad over my statements in the past 24 hours about families. I said, in a statement reflecting the view of three quarters of those surveyed in a Pew Research Center poll, that more women being the primary or sole breadwinners in families is harmful to raising children. This result came from a survey that found “nearly four in 10 families with children under the age of 18 are now headed by women who are the sole or primary breadwinners for their families.”
I also noted that the left, which tells us all the time we’re just another animal in the animal kingdom, is rather anti-science when it comes to this. In many, many animal species, the male and female of the species play complementary roles, with the male dominant in strength and protection and the female dominant in nurture. It’s the female who tames the male beast. One notable exception is the lion, where the male lion looks flashy but behaves mostly like a lazy beta-male MSNBC producer.

ERICKSON: Oh, it doesn't have anything to do with submissiveness per se, and it was certainly poorly constructed how I said it. What I meant by that was, when you look throughout society, look at other animals, the male of the species tends to be the protector, the dominant one in that regard, and we've gotten to a point in this country where you have a lot of feminists who think that the male and female roles are completely interchangeable, that there is no need for a man to support his family. You've got men walking away, you've got women becoming single mothers not by their choice, you've got a lot of people thinking it's a lifestyle choice. This isn't healthy for society when we think that roles of gender are completely -- can be interchangeable. No one's saying women can't be or shouldn't be a breadwinner or even the primary breadwinner. It's just that when we forced ourselves to this point in society where they have to be, that's not a good, healthy thing for society.

KELLY: Why are you attributing that to women in the workforce?

DOBBS: Excuse me. Let me just finish what I'm saying if I may, oh dominant one. The fact is --
KELLY: Excuse me?

KELLY: . . . In this country in the ’50s and ’60s there were huge numbers of people that believed that the children of interracial marriages were biologically inferior and that is why it was illegal for blacks and whites to marry in some states in the country up until 1967. And they said it was science and fact if you were the child of a black father and white mother or vice versa you were inferior and not set up for success. Tell that to Barack Obama.




When Lou Dobbs called her "oh dominant one" I wanted to toss my computer out the window and go on a misogyny ax murder spree.
She handled it better than I would have.

It's always the same, wait, just wait until this or that hits the fan. In the mean time the Republicans keep giving in to the left, and now it's Obama they keep giving in to. When will they hold the line until the left gives in? Just once in my friggen life I would like to see them HOLD! But they never do, and they never will.
They hold the purse, yet they allow Obama to stick his hand in and take what ever he wants because they are afraid of him and the media. Screw the media.
It is time to say no, regardless of what you are called or what lies they tell. Integrity starts with doing the right thing regardless of the lies told about you. The Republican establishment controls the party, and they have no integrity.
So because they cannot stop themselves from dealing with the devil, it's time for us to say no to them. We are beyond the brink, it is now time.

The McConnell Tax Hike will become law of the land. Mitch McConnell can and should take responsibility for it.

Republicans who saw Mitch McConnell and John Boehner destroy the last plank of the Republican Party are going to need to look elsewhere for a savior for their party. Boehner and McConnell have declared they will survive. Their party? They don’t really care.

Boehner is an Ohio Republican, the writing is on the wall. Boehner looses his job if Obama doesn't like him, so he prostrates himself, and sells the rest of us down the river. Boehner is like all blue state conservatives, just looking for cover anywhere they an find it. Look in the mirror: you (and me) are the fools. Boehner and McConnell and nearly the entire GOP Senators (and we'll soon find out probably at least half the GOP House) are not conservatives getting tricked into being progressives. They are progressives tricking you (and me) into thinking they are sometimes conservative. This was an easy call for anybody with a conservative inkling to vote against. All the pretend "negotations" between the President, and Harry Reid, and Biden, and McConnell, and then Boehner wouldn't budge, and then McConnell was driving a hard bargain, then....blah, blah, blah, they're drinking Scotch during these "meetings" plotting what the next "impasse" will be to keep dragging you and me along - it's all a show folks! The GOP leadership and the Obama administration and Democratic party are ONE IN THE SAME. They need each other to keep themselves in power. I for one am done being the GOP's useful idiot. 1988 was the last time we had a conversative leader of our party. 25+ years is too long.

Romney's campaign was based entirely on the premise that the economy is in shambles. But the fact is, the economy has been building; slowly, but building, for at least the last year. And our side chose to dismiss the facts as lies by the bureau of labor and statistics, even though there was no evidence of that.

Demographic charts and graphs do not lie. It is no coincidence that Bush worked much harder than McCain or Romney to connect with Latinos, Bush got a much higher % of their votes, and Bush won two terms as President. Now here we are. Did anyone else notice, the crowd at Romney's concession speech is nearly ALL white people? I mean very close to 100% white. This is what cannot stay unchanged if we want victory in the America of 2016, 2020, 2024.

Republicans had everything going for them. A horrible economy. A weak incumbent. Motivated voters. Now it’s time for the GOP to face reality and clean house. They need a new message, and new messengers.
Republicans and Mitt Romney have only themselves to blame for their staggering defeat. It wasn’t Sandy’s fault, Candy Crowley’s fault or Chris Christie’s fault.
There are some glaring reasons why President Obama won re-election. Now GOP leaders have to learn the lessons from this debacle.
The biggest issue the party faces is winning back women. GOP candidates once again lost big among female voters, and that’s a big problem. Just ask defeated U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, who got destroyed by largely false Democratic attacks portraying his voting record as anti-woman.
. . . And many Republicans may not want to hear this, but promising to kick all illegal immigrants out of the country and build fences on the border is not the way to win national elections.

Folks, running from reality won't help here, even though it will make us feel better. A different candidate would've been tantamount to a different chair on the Titanic. Mitt expressed big Republican ideas in crystal clear fashion-- anybody paying even a little attention got the differences between the two candidates and their respective parties. People listened, and the majority agreed with them. It hurts, but the truth is that conservative ideas lost.

The problem is, Republicans lost the personal freedom argument when Santorum, Akin, Ryan, etc., advocated no abortion exception in the case of rape or incest. I overheard a debate the day after the election -- a 70-ish man was complaining that Obamacare meant the government would tell him what snacks he could put in his vending machines. His adult daughter retorted that forcing her to bear a rapist's child was "a slightly larger inconvenience."

What about white voters? If the GOP is the white people’s party, why in the state of Maine only 40 percent of whites voted for Romney; in Vermont, only 33 percent. The same holds true in MA. You can’t explain Romney’s losses in states with large white populations and small numbers of minorities.

Obama went into the first debate thinking (in his mind, knowing) that he was way ahead, could coast to victory, and all he had to do was be "likeable" by not being too "mean" to Romney. And he came out and was trounced in the debate.
Flash forward to the third debate. Romney went into it thinking (in his mind, knowing) that he was way ahead. And yet, even after seeing Obama's performance in similar circumstances, Romney still thought he could coast to victory, and all he had to do was be "likeable" by not being too "mean" to Obama.

People ... if we want to win the Senate we need to avoid nominating individuals who fit the negative stereotypes that define the Left’s description of Conservatives. Todd Akin may be a good man and may share the right values but he was an incredibly weak (and not too bright) candidate. We gave this one away!!

I hope that the anti-Romney folks are happy with themselves.
It's obvious what happened here; the evangelicals and "no compromise" folks didn't turn out. Romney got fewer votes than McCain. All of the freepers who threatened not to come out carried through on their threat, and they gave away the Senate right along with it.
Thanks for making sure ObamaCare is here to stay.
