Erick Erickson - Misogynist Hypocrite Tells Haters to Back Off

After Megyn Kelly of Fox News asked Donald Trump why he was so mean to women all the time, he spent the next few days on Twitter and in the media verbally slapping her around, even implying that she was hormonally challenged to dare ask him such a pointed question.

Up rode Erick Erickson, white GOP pundit on a white horse, to the rescue of the fair-white maiden in distress. He banished Trump from an event sponsored by his website, Red State, while allowing other Republican candidates to use the event to campaign against the Donald.

ATLANTA -- Donald Trump was supposed to be the keynote speaker at the RedState Gathering here, a convocation of the hard-core conservative activists who read the influential blog edited by Erick Erickson. But when Trump said on CNN late Friday that debate moderator and Fox News host Megyn Kelly had “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever,” Erickson, who is a Fox News contributor, announced he had disinvited Trump from the conference. “There are just real lines of decency a person running for President should not cross,” Erickson wrote.

Decency towards women would be nice, yes. But Erickson has a problem with women.

In 2012, when Michelle Obama, Lilly Ledbetter and Tammy Duckworth spoke at the Democratic National Convention, he labeled it the "Vagina Monologues." Last year he started calling Texas Rep. Wendy Davis "Abortion Barbie" during her run for Governor. He has also written that since humans are animals, and males in the animal kingdom are usually dominant, then it was right and proper for men to dominate women in our society. The little women should stay out of the workplace, while men remained the breadwinners. It didn't even seem to matter to Erickson that this unequal view has always been backwards, that women in every society often function as breadwinners (or breadmakers, or bread sellers), or that many human societies are matriarchal, or that many animals are even matriarchal, Erickson just wanted every woman to know he was superior and dominant.

So Erickson doesn't mind using anti-women rhetoric when it suits him. He can out-Misogynist Trump any day. He's a big-mouthed Tea Party War-On-Women Evangelical Jerk. So riding up to "help" Kelly with Trump in an act of rank hypocrisy.

Even this week, his website called Hillary Clinton a "homely" woman who "slept her way to power." What a gent!



The Atlantic called Erickson out about his misogyny:

Erickson: You know, I’ve said some pretty stupid shit in the past, and I’ve apologized for it. I didn’t deny that I ever said it, I didn’t claim that my Twitter account was hacked. I apologized, said I was wrong, and had to deal with it. Trump’s reaction is, “I said whatever, not wherever.” No, he didn’t. I listened to the tape twice. I played it for the audience; they got the full context of it.
 

Yes, what Trump said about Kelly was despicable. But Erickson was the wrong champion to try and right the wrong.







And now it has backfired on him with his own true followers on Red State, which is poetic justice indeed. Even a week after the debate and when his event with the GOP candidates was over, Erickson was still getting horrible vitriolic hate mail on his website, and it upset is wittle feelings.





He appealed to his haters to just back off, because hate is not the answer. But clearly he has attracted such haters for years, being a hater himself.

. . . Conservatives have a real and legitimate reason to be pissed off at the GOP. Polling suggests conservatives hate the Republicans in Washington more than Democrats hate the Republicans in Washington. That anger has galvanized conservatives and pushed them toward Donald Trump. To his credit, he has capitalized on that anger.
But folks, this is anger at an unhealthy level. It is anger that has gone beyond the righteous anger of repeated betrayals from Washington. It is an anger that has become unhinged and is potentially uncontrollable. Anger at that level is more often destructive than constructive.

Ya think? Oh, boo hoo. Erickson has been rabble-rousing these same sad people for years, so he can dish it out but he can't take it. And he's surprised that they quote scripture to him? He has a scripture listed on his twitter, where he rants about "Abortion Barbie." His hate-filled screeds against Michelle Obama as a "Marxist Harpy Wife" are sprinkled among Sunday School stories of his kids. He prays for Democrats while rubbing their faces with his manure.

This is what happens when a pundit has been paid by both CNN and Fox to spew acid for years, even while bragging about what a good Christian he is. Total cognitive dissonance about his own point of view. He is as tone-deaf as Huckabee about the Duggar family incest.

And Trump? None of this is hurting him with possible voters - he is sailing along at the top of the polls. Sorry, Erick Son of Erick.

Mississippi Chaos: McDaniel Charges Voter Fraud ~ Tea Party Leader Commits Suicide

The chaos over the Republican Senate Run-Off Race in Mississippi continues. Seasoned politician Sen. Thad Cochran was declared the winner last Tuesday, but Tea Party challenger Chris McDaniel refuses to concede amidst allegations of some type of voter fraud particularly aimed at Democratic black voters who crossed over for Cochran, although that is legal in Mississippi and this was an open election. In the midst of the election angst, a prominent Tea Party leader who was arrested for spying on Cochran's wife in a nursing home has committed suicide. He had been indicted by a grand jury and was facing a court date later in the summer. Many say he was devastated by the arrest and the effect on his legal career, but it's possible he somehow blamed himself for the loss of the election.

The outrage of the Tea Party in Mississippi isn't going away any time soon. They are going hyperbolic and nearly apoplectic over McDaniel's loss:

This is a win for the establishment, but it’s a win with an asterisk, because it’s so tainted that it might be one of those things where they’re going to be sorry they ever won the runoff in Mississippi.

And the McDaniel campaign is looking to find more votes, but local election officials in Mississippi say there is no proven voter fraud, which is refreshing to hear from a mostly Republican state.

The McDaniel camp charged that a partial review of the tallies in Hinds County had turned up nearly 1,000 ballots that were cast by voters who participated in the Democratic primary on June 3 and were ineligible under state law to vote in the Republican runoff. McDaniel aides said supporters were reviewing ballots across the state, although they have met resistance in about half of the counties they have approached.

Pete Perry, the Hinds County Republican Party chairman, said the McDaniel campaign’s claims were “wildly exaggerated.” In the Jackson precinct at Fondren Presbyterian Church, he said, the McDaniel campaign charged that 192 illegal votes had been cast by people who voted in the Democratic primary. But, he said, only 37 Democrats voted there on June 3.

“Instead of making wild accusations which stir up social media with cries of fraud and corruption, it would be much better for all involved — the voters, the candidates, the 500 poll workers in Hinds County — if we let facts enter into the conversation,” Mr. Perry said.

A prominent lawyer and leader of the Mississippi Tea Party, who was arrested in connection with photos posted online of U.S. Senator Thad Cochran's bedridden wife, died on Friday of an apparent suicide, the man’s attorney said.
Mark Mayfield, 57, was a founding member of the state's Tea Party and had served as its vice chairman, the organization said.
. . . Police received an emergency call on Friday morning from his wife, saying her husband had just shot himself. Mayfield was found lying on the floor of a garage storage room with a single gunshot wound to his head, according to the police department in Ridgeland, Mississippi.

Mayfield was one of three men charged with conspiring to photograph U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran's bedridden wife in her nursing home and create a political video against Cochran.
That incident was one of the most explosive events in the Mississippi Senate primary, which Cochran won in a runoff over Tea Party-backed Chris McDaniel on Tuesday. McDaniel has refused to concede the race and suggests that voting irregularities may have helped Cochran win.
Mayfield, 57, an attorney and state and local Tea Party leader, was arrested last month along with Richard Sager, an elementary school P.E. teacher and high school soccer coach. Police said they also charged John Beachman Mary of Hattiesburg, but he was not taken into custody because of "extensive medical conditions." All face felony conspiracy charges. Sager also was charged with felony tampering with evidence, and Mary faces two conspiracy counts.

Regardless of recent allegations made against his character, Mark Mayfield was a fine Christian man who was always respectful and kind. He was one of the most polite and humble men I’ve ever met in politics. He was a loving husband, father, a pillar of his community, and he will be missed. “A good man is gone today [because] of a campaign to destroy lives,” Keith Plunkett, a Mississippi GOP operative, tweeted. “To all ‘so called’ Republican leaders who joined lockstep: I WILL NOT REST!”
Plunkett deleted the post after others on Twitter responded negatively and accused him of using a tragedy for political gain.
. . . McDaniel allies have argued that the whole nursing home incident was politicized to get sympathy for Cochran in what became one of the nastiest races in memory.
“The politicization of the incident was beyond the pale,” Plunkett said. “It was an attack on a good man that is well respected. I’ve never met a person that had a bad word to say about him. It’s shocking to those in the state who knew the demeanor and quiet dedication of the real Mark Mayfield. He wasn’t the character he was being cast, and he didn’t deserve that kind of treatment.”

The Republican Senate Run-Off Election in Mississippi has turned into a big deal. Tea Party candidate Chris McDaniel had been favored to win, but at the last minute Thad Cochran appealed to black Democratic voters who turned out in record numbers to vote AGAINST McDaniel. And thus began another strange night in American politics.

Cochran won the election, but McDaniel has so far refused to concede the race, and there's talk of a write-in campaign, a third party for Teabaggers, an investigation into the election, and general far-right Poutrage.

Make some popcorn and read what happened.

McDaniel lost in a runoff to the six-term incumbent Cochran by only about 6,000 votes, amounting to less than 2% of the total count. Many of those who pushed Cochran over the top were either Republicans who’d been unmoved to vote in the initial June 3 primary (in which McDaniel narrowly won but failed to secure the 50% needed to prevent a runoff), or Democrats who were inspired to vote for Cochran to prevent a Tea Party victory for McDaniel.
Turnout in Tuesday’s runoff was higher than in Round One, with about 55,000 more ballots cast, many of them by Democrats for Cochran. McDaniel supporters felt robbed; as their candidate took the stage at his election night watch party, the crowd chanted “Write Chris in!”

In a bitter and angry speech to supporters in Hattiesburg late Tuesday, McDaniel refused to concede and said, “we are not prone to surrender.” He cited “voting irregularities” and thundered that the “Republican primary [was] decided by liberal Democrats.”
“We’re not done fighting,” McDaniel vowed.
. . . McDaniel has drawn support from national tea party groups as well as conservative stars, including former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, former senator Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania and Chuck Woolery, the original host of “Wheel of Fortune.”

With Friends Like These, Who Needs Liberals?
As we pointed out last week (see: http://t.co/y8T64iZQyR), there were several potentially illegal political games afoot in Mississippi to motivate Democrat voters to “switch” over to the GOP for a day to help save a 42 year Republican member of Congress. On top of that, millions of dollars from out of state liberal billionaires like Mike Bloomberg poured in at the last minute on that same incumbent’s behalf. You have to ask yourself why?
When a primary election is lost fairly, I am all for unifying behind the victor and joining forces to fight in November. When an election is questionable, with potential legal violations, politics MUST be put aside and the irregularities MUST be fully investigated. Regardless of party, we owe it to voters and to democracy within our Republic. The integrity of the vote speaks directly to the integrity of those who serve and the trust we ask the American public to put in our institutions.
I told Chris McDaniel last night that I stand with his effort to get to the bottom of this – he needs to know average, but tremendously concerned, citizens want to make sure the integrity of last night’s results in Mississippi are verified. Voting shenanigans never cease to amaze, but they had better cease altogether for the sake of ethical elections. And any GOP “architect” behind these abhorrent voting shenanigans should be ashamed of this Pyrrhic victory for the establishment.
If we find out it’s true that some of the characters alleged to have masterminded this Mississippi hijacking are the same ones who’ve tried to destroy other Republicans’ careers, they need to be taken to task and only be hired by unethical campaigns. Fool us once, shame on you; fool us twice, shame on us. And if any news organization ignores a free and fair elections issue like this, then whether left-leaning or center right, their silence will speak volumes.

. . . the Mississippi race does crystalize for me the desires of many to start a third party. In essence, tea party activists are the RINOs. A Republican Party campaigning on making the Senate “conservative,” used liberal Democrats to preserve an incumbent Republican and defeat a conservative. The actual conservatives are the outsiders with the GOP establishment doing all it could to preserve its power at the expense of its principles.
. . . Mississippi is a crystalizing election in that sense. Cochran is, for all intents and purposes, a marionette. His strings are pulled by staffers and lobbyists. They drop him onto the stage of the Senate and pull up a string to raise his hand. These puppeteers are so invested in keeping their gravy train going that they will, while claiming to be Republicans, flood a Republican primary with Obama voters to ensure their gravy train continues.

And to be clear, there is nothing wrong with that. They won fair and square. They changed who the electorate was, which was allowed under the rules.
. . . Unfortunately for the Republican Party the fight continues. And as grassroots activists feel further and further removed and alienated from the party, it will become harder and harder to win. . . . we may just see an irreparable split. Then, and even worse, if party leaders and party base voters cannot reconcile themselves to a common candidate in 2016, God help us.
I continue to oppose a third party. I’m just not sure what the Republican Party really stands for any more other than telling Obama no and telling our own corporate interests yes. That’s not much of a platform.

The GOP in Texas is really scared of Wendy Davis and they've started a smear campaign to prove it. It was bound to happen. She is a dream candidate for the Democrats in Texas in her bid for Governor and is getting financial help from all over the country. Whether she wins or not, she has become a national figure, and a huge target for the Right. Bring it on - she will just raise more money!

A single mother working two jobs, she met Jeff Davis, a lawyer 13 years older than her, married him and had a second daughter. He paid for her last two years at Texas Christian University and her time at Harvard Law School, and kept their two daughters while she was in Boston. When they divorced in 2005, he was granted parental custody, and the girls stayed with him. Wendy Davis was directed to pay child support.
In an extensive interview last week, Davis acknowledged some chronological errors and incomplete details in what she and her aides have said about her life.
“My language should be tighter,” she said. “I’m learning about using broader, looser language. I need to be more focused on the detail.”

GOP Spin on Christie: Bad Bromance and Benghazi

Some in the GOP are desperately hoping that Chris Christie can save his reputation and still run for President in 2016. Others on the far right applaud his downfall because they consider him a RINO (Republican in Name Only) and his political demise will open up the field to more Tea Party Candidates. Either way, some of their statements about Christie and his chances are as nonsensical as they are full of denial.




Americans are a forgiving people, but they're forgiving when you take ownership, when you admit mistakes you take corrective action, and that's what Chris Christie showed.
He stood there for 111 minutes in an open dialogue with the press. ...Now if only Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton would give us 111 seconds of that, would we find out some things we want to find out about Obamacare, Benghazi the IRS -- I mean Chris Christie has been open here.

Fifteen thousand UPS employees got a notification in the mail that they were losing spousal coverage, that their husbands and wives were all losing the health insurance that they wanted and they liked. That is happening all over the country.”

In the specific example cited by Cruz of UPS — “15,000 UPS employees got a notification in the mail that they were losing spousal coverage” — he left out a crucial detail: The company’s policy change affects spouses who would qualify for health coverage at their own company — affecting approximately one in five workers, according to a company memo. Spouses who don’t have coverage or are not employed would still continue on the company plan.

























What you will see is that a lot of the insurance companies will begin to fold. People will have fewer and fewer options. Ultimately we will have a single-payer system if we don’t stop this from happening, and that will give the government the kind of control that it needs.

Men like Mitch McConnell, John Cornyn, Eric Cantor, Kevin McCarthy, and others have preached a great sermon against Obamacare, but now conservatives who supported them see that these men have refused to actually practice what they’ve been preaching. They’ve refused to stand and fight with the rest of us.
The fight was always about Obamacare. Today we know we must keep fighting and fight harder against even our own supposed side. But we always knew the fight would force the charlatans of the GOP out of the shadows into disinfecting sunlight. It has happened as I wrote it would almost a month ago.

I happened to turn on the Hannity show on Fox News last Friday evening. “Average Americans are feeling the pain of Obamacare and the healthcare overhaul train wreck,” Hannity announced, “and six of them are here tonight to tell us their stories.” Three married couples were neatly arranged in his studio, the wives seated and the men standing behind them, like game show contestants.

Republicans now have to get it through their heads that the law isn’t going away. As one Senate Republican aide put it Thursday, “We’re past that existential question.”
Democrats say they’ll always be able to remind Americans of the massively unpopular shutdown whenever Republicans try too hard to fight the law.
“Republicans thought that this was a winning issue for them and would trump public outcry over the budget and the debt ceiling … Republicans were dead wrong,” said Matt Canter of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. “The shutdown showed that voters don’t want to continue refighting the partisan battles around the health care law.”
And top GOP strategists say the party has to try harder to rally around an alternative, which they haven’t been able to do so far.
Oh, and maybe don’t shut the government down again.

Many feminist and emo lefties have their panties in a wad over my statements in the past 24 hours about families. I said, in a statement reflecting the view of three quarters of those surveyed in a Pew Research Center poll, that more women being the primary or sole breadwinners in families is harmful to raising children. This result came from a survey that found “nearly four in 10 families with children under the age of 18 are now headed by women who are the sole or primary breadwinners for their families.”
I also noted that the left, which tells us all the time we’re just another animal in the animal kingdom, is rather anti-science when it comes to this. In many, many animal species, the male and female of the species play complementary roles, with the male dominant in strength and protection and the female dominant in nurture. It’s the female who tames the male beast. One notable exception is the lion, where the male lion looks flashy but behaves mostly like a lazy beta-male MSNBC producer.

What I meant by that was, when you look throughout society, look at other animals, the male of the species tends to be the protector, the dominant one in that regard, and we've gotten to a point in this country where you have a lot of feminists who think that the male and female roles are completely interchangeable, that there is no need for a man to support his family. You've got men walking away, you've got women becoming single mothers not by their choice, you've got a lot of people thinking it's a lifestyle choice. This isn't healthy for society when we think that roles of gender are completely -- can be interchangeable. No one's saying women can't be or shouldn't be a breadwinner or even the primary breadwinner. It's just that when we forced ourselves to this point in society where they have to be, that's not a good, healthy thing for society.

DOBBS: Excuse me. Let me just finish what I'm saying if I may, oh dominant one. The fact is --
KELLY: Excuse me?

KELLY: . . . In this country in the ’50s and ’60s there were huge numbers of people that believed that the children of interracial marriages were biologically inferior and that is why it was illegal for blacks and whites to marry in some states in the country up until 1967. And they said it was science and fact if you were the child of a black father and white mother or vice versa you were inferior and not set up for success. Tell that to Barack Obama.




When Lou Dobbs called her "oh dominant one" I wanted to toss my computer out the window and go on a misogyny ax murder spree.
She handled it better than I would have.

COOPER: What about the Tea Party? People said the Tea Party decided it wanted "pure candidates," and I put that in quotes. Your party lost some un-losable races that they may have cost Republicans control of the Senate, because the Republicans can't win with the Tea Party, but they can't win without them. And a lot of leaders don't feel comfortable publicly, you know, even bringing this issue up.

GIULIANI: Well, I think what we really should try to do with the Tea Party, to get them to figure out what are your priority issues? Their priority issue, the whole reason they got established, was big government, heavy taxes, Obama care, government trying to direct your life, and then allow a certain amount of flexibility on social issues.

If we could organize around fiscal conservatism, conservatism on foreign policy, and on -- and on military policy, and then allow people to disagree with each other, sort of in the Ronald Reagan mold of "if you agree with me on eight out of ten issues, you're my friend."

Somehow, we're going to have to get around to that kind of party. Otherwise -- and I've been saying this for, you know, ten years, otherwise, we give away -- look at the map. We give away the entire northeast and we give away the entire West Coast. By the time we get to the electoral vote, we've got to win by one state, two states. And, you know, when you get a good campaign against you -- Barack Obama had a great ground game and a great campaign -- then you lose.

COOPER: I've got to go. But I want to ask you very briefly, do you think Mitt Romney has a role on the national stage in the Republican Party? Or do you think, you know, he goes kind of like Mike Dukakis, kind of disappears from the national stage?

GIULIANI: We don't do that. Republicans don't reject their prior candidates. I mean, we've had lots of candidates...

COOPER: I've heard a lot of rejection today.

GIULIANI: I know, I know. The day after we reject them, and then a year later -- a year later, they have a role in the party.

Mitt Romney -- Mitt Romney ran a very, very good race. You know, reality is, he's a very, very intelligent man. He's got a lot of terrific ideas. He's someone that can play a big role in this party.

Will he be a candidate again? I doubt that. There are an awful lot of candidates coming along. But will he be someone that we respect, admire? I gained tremendous -- I ran against Mitt Romney, and I saw in 2012 a Mitt Romney that I really, really admired.

COOPER: OK. Mayor Giuliani, appreciate you being on. Thank you very much.

GIULIANI: Thank you.

~ New Jersey Governor Chris Christie on why Romney lost the election.

Perhaps the easy explanation is that two hurricanes and two betrayals by Chris Christie killed Mitt Romney's chances.
The first hurricane was Isaac, the one that skirted Tampa in late August during the Republican convention. That one seriously disrupted the official schedule.
. . . prime-time keynoter Chris Christie barely mentioned the nominee or Obama in a speech that sounded like the New Jersey governor was pumping his re-election.
. . . the second hurricane, Sandy, struck on Oct. 29. The campaign went into “freeze” mode while Obama swung into “commander in chief” mode. Romney's surge was suddenly frozen too.
Enter Iago.
It was perfectly fine for Chris Christie to join with Obama in the wake of the crisis. But to lather the president with praise, calling his response to Sandy “outstanding” in the immediate aftermath of the storm was completely unjustified.
