Tennessee Turkey Girl ~ GOP Operative for Stephen Fincher Insults the Obama Family

The so-called "Communications Director" for Tennessee GOP Rep. Stephen Fincher, a woman named Elizabeth Lauten or @DCGOPGIRL, decided to give the daughters of President Obama a talking-to about their attitudes, demeanor, and even their clothing choices. The impetus for this came after the girls appeared with their Dad to pardon the White House turkey, during which they looked both bored and embarrassed, as any teenagers would be in such a situation. Maybe these girls are just getting too old to take such a silly tradition seriously. Ya think?

While "outraged" right-wingers decried the girls giving the turkey and Pres. Obama the "side-eye," Ms. Lauten spilled her own thoughts onto her public Facebook. And she didn't just keep it light-hearted, she blamed Michelle and Barack Obama for their appearance, saying the parents of Sasha and Malia "don't respect their positions very much." In effect, she politicized a very non-political situation and used children to make the point that she hates the Obama family. Keep it classy!

 photo B3lSafpIUAAiXja.jpg

Hmm, Ms. Lauten - what do you mean by "respect their positions very much?" As much as you respect the President and First Lady of the United States? Or as much as you respect the children of the President and their right to grow up off-limits to criticism from stupid political hacks like yourself? While I'm sure the racist followers of your boss, Rep. Fincher, are cheering you on, most people with any sense at all would know you are committing career suicide by attacking the President's family on Thanksgiving. But please, proceed. Happy communications to you.

We'll never know what possessed this person to target the Obama girls as opposed to, say, the rather wild daughters of George Bush, known for getting drunk at frat parties. One thing's for sure, Twitter will NEVER let her forget it. For me, Elizabeth Lauten will forever be "Tennessee Turkey Girl."

Of course a few on Twitter came to her defense, because she is a DC insider.

Never mind that her employer is a public servant paid with our tax money. And therefore we have a right to hold his staff accountable, especially those of us from Tennessee.

But . . .

Gun-Nut Mom Jokes About Assassinating President Obama

 photo abfbae_edf91dd860534949b4247da7f479.jpg

The group "Moms Demand Action" and leader Shannon Watts have had success recently getting both restaurant chains as well as Target stores to ban people from Open Carry who want to scare people with assault weapons. Now there is a backlash group called "Moms With Guns Demand Action" started by a woman named Kathy L. Perkins.

Obviously the founder of that group thinks Shannon Watts and anyone who wants to curb firearms is unpatriotic, while she is a "real 'Merican." Perkins enjoys parading around with a gun strapped to her back in front of Girl Scouts and talking about the 2nd Amendment. But this week she took her love of weapons and shooting a little too far - into the realm of murder, as in "assassination." On her Facebook, she joked about assassinating President Obama. And now Kathy Perkins is on everyone's radar, including (hopefully) the Secret Service, the FBI, and even the NSA, if they are paying attention.

As of tonight her Twitter account @MomsWithGuns has either been suspended or deleted, and so has the "Moms With Guns Demand Action" Facebook.
Another Facebook Group called simply Moms With Guns (the same name as Perkins' Twitter account, is denying that Perkins was ever a member, or that they have anything to do with her. In fact they refer to her as their "current parasite" because they are getting some flack from people who dislike Perkins.

About her flight from the Internets, via Liberaland
Ms. Kathy Perkins, founder of Moms With Guns Demand Action, who defiantly shared her thoughts on our twice-elected president by writing, “Where is an assasin when you need one?” [sic] and has called for an armed uprising, has magically disappeared. So, she either ran, or the black hovering helicopters she’s been hallucinating have actually gathered her crazy self up and hauled her in for questioning.
She wanted to “Take this country back by force” and now presumably, she’s run from the Internet.

There is still a cached copy of her Non-Apology Apology. In it Perkins mentions "CATI" - the group "Come and Take It Texas" - referring to the Greek phrase from King Leonidas of Sparata "Molon Labe" - "Come and Take My Weapons."
I am not a member of CATI (. Haven't been for a while. I apologize for my comment "where is an assassin when you need one?" and agree it was not something I should joke about.
I don't see Obama as my President but I respect the office and though on my personal page, I should have expected trolls to be trollin for garbage to spin. I am affiliated with no gun groups but my own and if I had any power Obama would be imprisoned for treason and brought before a court of his peers where Id hope for an appropriate judgement for the crime of treason.
My comment has been spun as a call for his assassination but it was not that. I invite the FBI or whoever to investigate me. I am guilty of nothing and have nothing to hide while the current occupant of the Oval Office is guilty of high treason and needs to attack housewives to distract people from his evil.
My regret is joking about his serious crimes against our country.
I will not read or respond to the comments by haters who love spin. Its regretful that CATI was attacked for a personal post on my personal page.
I wish CATI Godspeed and success and wish to say I am not associated with them nor was my comment. They are good people with good intentions. Im against behaving unwisely and will not joke on my personal page about serious issues our Nation faces any longer. I under estimated my enemy's love of spin and hatred for Americans who love our Constitution.
Carry On Patriots! If you get attacked, know its because you are doing something good. Our enemies are vile and ruthless and wait for any scrape of spin to use against us. Im glad they are watching though because this Armed Mom wont be scared off by lies and threats and spin.

Scarborough Attacks #UniteBlue as Freaky Fringe Extremist Haters - UPDATE: Non-Apology-Apology

 photo DD_256x256_big.png

"Morning Joe" Scarborough of MSNBC decided to launch an attack on the Progressive Twitter group #UniteBlue on Friday's show, and the members, including myself, did not take kindly to being called "fringe freaks" and "hate-mongers."

Even after the Unite Blue blog and countless tweets tried to set him straight about the group, Joe doubled down on Twitter. Maybe his real problem with us is that many Democratic candidates are joining to gain exposure and retweets, and it is helping them, especially in the South. We are the people who re-elected Barack Obama as President and ruined the nasty plans of the GOP. Sorry, Joe.

Unite Blue members are the most valuable demographic to most shows on MSNBC, and we haven't forgotten that Scarborough bragged that he helped get Martin Bashir fired for insulting Sarah Palin. Joe's pal, MSNBC Chief Phil Griffin, pandered to Palin when she got far-right Tea Party Twitter (#tcot) riled up, and Martin Bashir was thrown under the bus. But wait, Phil - isn't it the Dems and Obama supporters who are the entire "Lean Forward" Demographic?

Joe Scarborough, meanwhile, is leaning backwards and many liberals inside and outside of Unite Blue are calling for his resignation. Others just want Phil to make him apologize. I'm just glad to know how he really feels, and now we have it on the record.

Joe's Insult Via #UniteBlue Blog
“I could just take people who use the hashtag #UniteBlue and make a sweeping condemnation about America’s labor movement if I wanted to, but I don’t because I know that these people are on the fringes; they’re freaks; they’re hate mongers; that there are a lot of people who are in America’s union movements that are good, decent, hardworking people who actually would agree with me on a lot of issues.”

Response from Unite Blue:
After displaying his willful ignorance of normal, hardworking Americans, Joe Scarborough owes an apology to the mothers, fathers, retirees, millennials, activists, professionals and all other members of UniteBlue. Calling tens of thousands of good, decent people ‘freaks’ is a sweeping condemnation and makes you a hate monger.

Half a million Tweets per month use the hashtag #UniteBlue, more than #GOP or #TeaParty. It seems this has been getting under somebody’s skin. Nothing scares the Right more than a united Left, and its Joe Scarborough’s job to make progressive grassroots movements like UniteBlue look like a crazy, fringe group. That’s why he makes $100,000 per week while opposing a $10.10 per hour minimum wage.

Supporting unions and workers rights is not a fringe cause. This attack merely demonstrates how far the right has drifted, how out of touch Joe Scarborough has become with the mainstream, and how much the working class coming together scares certain people.

My Graphic that has gone Viral on Twitter:

Joe Strikes Back, Without Apology

Unite Blue Responds Again:

On Monday he started Back-Peddling Slightly
But No Apology

Change.Org Petition for MSNBC to Fire Joe

Politicus Petition to Make Joe Apologize

Open Letter from #UniteBlue to Phil Griffin:
Mr. Phil Griffin
President, MSNBC
30 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, NY
May 26, 2014
Dear Mr. Griffin:

Last Friday May 23, Joe Scarborough insulted thousands of honest, hardworking Americans who choose to organize under the banner of #UniteBlue, falsely alleging on MSNBC’s Morning Joe show that “these people are on the fringes; they’re freaks; they’re hate mongers.”

Mr. Scarborough owes an apology to the mothers, fathers, retirees, veterans, soldiers, activists, professionals and all members of UniteBlue. Calling tens of thousands of good, decent people ‘freaks’ is a sweeping condemnation and makes him a hate monger.

Half a million Tweets use #UniteBlue each month, more than #GOP or #TeaParty. Many of us are MSNBC viewers who were personally offended by these demeaning words and petty attacks. In response to the unprecedented outrage that resulted, Mr. Scarborough decided to double down instead of apologizing. This time he called each of us ‘extremists,’ and it’s really deeply offensive. Your entire network is being poisoned thanks to this behavior.

At this time, we are considering a number of petitions that have arisen calling for boycotts of Morning Joe and its sponsors. We have stood firmly against the promotion of hatred on the airwaves from others such as Rush Limbaugh, and cannot find any attempt on behalf of Joe Scarborough to move the political conversation forward meaningfully.

We respectfully request that Mr. Scarborough personally and publicly apologize for his comments on air and offer the opportunity for a UniteBlue representative to explain who we are; real people who want a voice in our democracy.

UPDATE: Joe Issues Non-Apology Apology

Via Unite Blue
“I brought it up on Friday… I brought up UniteBlue, and I could find people in UniteBlue who said some terrible things about me over the past two, three, four years, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t great people in the union movement, that doesn’t mean there aren’t great vets and great people in UniteBlue, that there aren’t great people in these organizations… Don’t we at some point realize that there are some people who will try to associate them self [sic] with a bigger group and say hateful things that shouldn’t be associated with the labor movement or UniteBlue?” Joe Scarborough on Morning Joe, 5/27/2014.

While this was not the full-throated apology that thousands requested, this display of respect is a promising first step, and we will continue to hold him accountable when political commentary devolves into disparaging and divisive attacks.
Now it’s time to move forward. We must continue to fight against the conservative politics of hate, division and fear, and once again affirm the audacity of hope, compassion and love.
Thank you to everyone who joined in our efforts this weekend. Way to go #UniteBlue!

Now Joe is blocking #UniteBlue members.
He can dish it out, but can't take it.

From CNN:
Jonathan Karl, chief White House correspondent for ABC News, addressed criticism of his reporting on the Benghazi talking points controversy, saying in a statement to CNN that he regrets the inaccuracy of his report.
Clearly, I regret the email was quoted incorrectly and I regret that it’s become a distraction from the story, which still entirely stands. I should have been clearer about the attribution. We updated our story immediately," he said in the statement to Howard Kurtz, host of CNN's "Reliable Sources."
