White House Intruder was well-known to Secret Service

In a scary moment last Friday, a man armed with a knife rushed past Secret Service Agents on the White House lawn and got as far as the door. The first family had just left the building, thank God, but why wasn't this guy stopped? And media is now reporting that the guy is an Iraq veteran who also happened to have 800 rounds of ammo in his car, and he is a repeat-offender with weapons charges in Virginia who was well-known by the Secret Service.

This is baffling and disturbing. Why was this guy allowed anywhere near the White House grounds? At least he is in custody now, but it's worrying that others might try to breeze past security and blow up a bomb or something.

. . . Federal prosecutors said that officers found 800 rounds of ammunition, two hatchets and a machete in the car of Omar Jose Gonzalez, 42, of Texas, after they searched it on Friday. The prosecutors made their disclosure before a judge as they argued that Mr. Gonzalez should continue to be held in jail because he posed a danger to President Obama.

The judge agreed, and Mr. Gonzalez will remain in custody until a hearing next month.

In late August, Secret Service officers stopped Mr. Gonzalez in front of the fence on the White House’s South Lawn after they noticed a hatchet in his waistband, the officials said. The officers searched Mr. Gonzalez’s car, finding two dogs, camping equipment but no weapons. He was not arrested or questioned further.

In July, Mr. Gonzalez was arrested after he led Virginia troopers on a high-speed pursuit along Interstate 81 in Southwest Virginia in his Ford Bronco. After being stopped, police found the vehicle filled with weapons, according to a release by the state police.

Among the items found in Mr. Gonzalez’s vehicle in July was a mini-arsenal of 11 guns including two shotguns and four rifles, some equipped with scopes and bipods that a sniper would use and “a map of Washington, D.C., with writing and a line drawn to the White House,” law enforcement officials said. He also had four pistols, three of them loaded, and a revolver. The inventory of Mr. Gonzales’ vehicle listed by the Virginia State Police indicates the items were found stored in his vehicle’s “bulky floor.”

Yes, emotion. Such a terrible thing. Particularly in the world of NRA leadership, which is known for its dispassionate, intellectual approach to the gun debate. Imagine living in a large metropolitan area where lawful firearms ownership is heavily regulated and discouraged. Imagine waking up to a phone call from the police, warning that a terrorist event is occurring outside and ordering you to stay inside your home."
I'm talking, of course, about Boston, where residents were imprisoned behind the locked doors of their homes, a terrorist with bombs and guns just outside. Frightened citizens, sheltered in place, with no means to defend themselves or their families from whatever may come crashing through the door.
How many Bostonians wished they had a gun two weeks ago? How many other Americans now ponder that life-or-death question?

Imagine this small minority, and that's what they are, and the big change they've been able to make by taking over popular culture and the media and the educational establishment in particular, colleges and universities. They've gone and infiltrated all these elite institutions.
And they try to tell you how 'wrong' you are, how perverted your idea of America is when you stand for the truth, you stand for tradition, you stand for what this country has been to the world which is a beacon of hope.
Do not let them convince you it is lost! Do not let them convince you to be afraid!
Do not let them force you to cower!
Stand for America! Fight for America!
And we will get America back!!!

Breaking News: School Shooting in Taft, California During NRA Meeting:







Taft Union High School in Taft, Calif., normally has an armed guard on campus to help officials with problems that go "beyond the scope" of the administration.
But on Thursday morning, as a student showed up with a shotgun and fired two to four shots at a teacher and a classmate, the officer was nowhere to be found.
"He couldn't get there because he was snowed in," Sheriff Donny Youngblood of the Kern County Sheriff’s Department said in a press conference Thursday afternoon.

After the Meeting, the NRA Released this statement:
Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association of America is made up of over 4 million moms and dads, daughters and sons, who are involved in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newtown from ever happening again. We attended today's White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.
We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment. While claiming that no policy proposals would be “prejudged,” this Task Force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners - honest, taxpaying, hardworking Americans. It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation's most pressing problems. We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen. Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works - and what does not.

NRA vows to fight everything on Biden's gun agenda

The Gun Lobby, the NRA, at least, in some ways is a victim of their own success. Their MO is to prevent anyone from even bringing up gun control legislation, to make it seem politically impossible to even broach the subject. And so they're not used to having to debate their side of the argument with powerful, motivated, organized proponents of the opposite view. In other words, they have been so successful in shutting down any possible debate over gun control in this country that they now seem legitimately surprised that there might be a debate in this country over gun control.
Their reaction today to their meeting with Vice President Joe Biden in Washington was that they said they were 'disappointed.' That was their word 'disappointed' that one of the subjects being discussed was reforming gun laws. Yeah, what did you think you were there to talk about?

David Gregory's Gun Show on NBC - Updated

NBC News anchor David Gregory is being investigated by police after displaying what he said was a high-capacity gun clip on Sunday's broadcast of "Meet the Press," a spokeswoman for Washington's Metropolitan Police Department said Wednesday.

Gregory held up what appeared to be a 30-round gun magazine - barred under Washington municipal code - while hosting the nationally broadcast interview with National Rifle Association Chief Executive Officer Wayne LaPierre.

. . . The incident is "being investigated as a violation of D.C. code," said Washington Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Tisha Gant. She declined to elaborate.

Washington's municipal code prohibits possession, sale or transfer of "any large capacity ammunition feeding device, regardless of whether the device is attached to a firearm."

The maximum penalty for conviction on such a charge is a $1,000 fine and one year in prison.

Meet the Police: NBC’s David Gregory Under Investigation For Weapons Violation On Show

. . . This may have been a case where a picture — or consultation with counsel — might have been in order. There is no exception for the media in such possession cases.

On the show with the National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre, Gregory showed him the clip and said “Here’s a magazine for ammunition that carries 30 bullets. Now, isn’t it possible that if we got rid of these . . . if we replaced them and said, ‘Well, you can only have a magazine that carries five bullets, or 10 bullets,’ isn’t it just possible that we could reduce the carnage in a situation like Newtown?”

The predictable response from LaPierre was “I don’t believe that’s going to make one difference.” The less predictable response came from gun owners and gun control advocates who noted that the possession of such a clip is a crime. The D.C. law states “No person in the District shall possess, sell, or transfer any large capacity ammunition feeding device.” This does not require that the clip be attached to a weapon and does not appear to require that it have rounds in the clip.
The reported investigation could also ensnare those NBC employees who obtained and transported the clip.

David Gregory will not host this Sunday's 'Meet The Press'
NBC's David Gregory, the subject of a now-popular police investigation, is on vacation and will not host this Sunday's edition of "Meet The Press."
. . . Gregory's vacation was scheduled prior to last week's show, according to NBC. He is scheduled to host the Jan. 5 edition of "Meet the Press."
NBC News has declined to comment on the investigation.

Throw Gregory in jail! After all, what is more dangerous: a journalist holding a gun clip on a tv show to make a point, or a gun clip in a semi automatic rifle pointed at innocent civilians? According to the NRA and conservatives, it's the journalist, and we all know why...
