Hillary Clinton Wins New York Landslide

 photo Hillary-HappyGif.gif

For weeks the Bernie Sanders crowd insisted that he was going to "win big" in New York City. After all, he was a hometown boy from Brooklyn, and a few years, or even 40 years, living in Vermont means nothing when you have the Big Apple in your heart.

And indeed, Sanders seemed to have "intensity" and "momentum" right up until the polls closed on Primary Election Day and it all fell apart. Because Hillary not only won the hearts and minds of Democrats in the Big Apple - she got a landslide of support, higher than projected, both in turnout and delegates won.

Bernie didn't even win the precinct where he grew up. He didn't win any ethnic groups, not even the Jewish voters. Yes, he won in white rural counties with few voters and few delegates outside the cities. It just wasn't enough.

Election Jokes of the Week April 10, 2016

 photo Jester.png

On the Republican side, I saw that Ted Cruz visited a matzah factory in Brooklyn. Of course, matzah is the unleavened bread that Jewish people eat for Passover, and Ted Cruz is the presidential candidate that New Yorkers will definitely pass over.
~ Jimmy Fallon

While campaigning in New York today, Hillary Clinton rode the subway and had to swipe her metro card five times before getting through a turnstile. Though if you know Hillary Clinton, you know she'll keep trying until she gets in.
She swiped her metro card five times, which means it only took the crowd behind her 10 seconds to go from "Oh my God it's Hillary!" to "Let's go lady!"

After weeks of back and forth, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton have finally agreed to hold a debate in Brooklyn next Thursday. You know you're in New York when you have to argue over the date of when you're going to argue.
~ Jimmy Fallon

Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have scheduled a debate for next Thursday in Brooklyn. Which is about as close as Bernie Sanders can get to Wall Street without spontaneously combusting.
~ Seth Meyers

"Bernie Sanders won on the Democratic side in the Wisconsin primary. Sanders' Wisconsin supporters celebrated by drinking Old Milwaukee, or as Bernie calls it, 'Young Milwaukee.'"

Angry Nation Ponders Eric Garner Non-Verdict from New York Grand Jury

 photo da8dcf59-c809-45b9-93c0-338d8ce6eb6d.gif

#ICantBreathe = Last words of Eric Garner.

What is your life? It is even a vapor,
that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.

New Testament James 4:14

There are really no words - or breath left to speak words - after the non-decision of a New York Grand Jury in the tragic death of Eric Garner, who was killed by a cop while in a stranglehold on a public sidewalk. The whole thing was caught on film from the first interaction to his dying breath, yet to the bafflement of the world, no indictment against the cop was brought by the Grand Jury. Once again a prosecutor chose to protect law enforcement instead of enforcing the law.

And it's been another sad day for our country as we grieve another senseless death at the hands of the police, the death of a man who was selling cigarettes on the city streets. He wasn't a thug, he wasn't being violent. There was no danger for the cop who killed him. There is no instant death sentence for resisting arrest.

We have to solve this, and soon.

Eric Holder has announced an investigation into the Garner case, as well as in Ferguson for the victim Mike Brown. Until there is some kind of justice and cops are held accountable by somebody somewhere, protests are going to fill the streets of our country. Tonight thousands flooded into the streets from New York to Seattle, and Reverend Al Sharpton has called for a march on Washington on December 13th. It would be nice to have some sense of resolution of all these racially motivated cop shootings by Christmas, but the thin blue line is into protecting itself these days and most politicians don't seem to give a damn.

Chris Christie has a Tumultuous Super Bowl Weekend - Updated

 photo imagesqtbnANd9GcT0gUWDrwreNL0mtsUqI.jpg

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, for Chris Christie. New Jersey is hosting the Super Bowl, so the Governor is in demand to rub elbows with the rich and famous. On the other hand - his staff, campaign manager, and ex-best friends are under subpoenas that are due to the Legislature on Monday. Have a nice weekend, Gov.

Oh, the humanity. Today was meant to be Chris Christie’s Super Bowl party, literally. Instead, the Hindenburg, engulfed by flames, is crashing right before our eyes.
~ Scott Raab on Esquire

Friday, January 31, 2014,

After a scathing New York Times article appeared about Bridgegate and Christie was implicated by his old pal David Wildstein, the Governor appeared at an event for radio personality Howard Stern's birthday. He schmoozed and left early without answering questions from reporters.

Saturday February 1, 2014

Governor Christie was booed and heckled by New Yorkers on Saturday.

“You made it across the bridge?” howled one heckler as the problem-plagued Christie — in a navy Windbreaker and black scarf — sat impassively on the stage at Broadway and W. 43rd St.
~ New York Daily News

Super Bowl week was supposed to be another victory lap for Christie on his road to the White House. Instead it has turned into public booing and blink, and you’ll miss him public appearances. Christie’s approval ratings have plummeted both nationally and in New Jersey. The governor is now trailing Hillary Clinton by 12 points in the hypothetical head to head 2016 matchup.

Also on Saturday, February 1, 2014:

Christie's Office released an email about David Wildstein and the New York Times article that implied knowledge of the George Washington Bridge closure.

Weiner Problems

Anthony Weiner Sexplains His Role as Carlos Danger

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anthony Weiner talking about his alias "Carlos Danger" on Univision
Interviewer: You picked the pseudonym 'Carlos Danger' to hold these conversations of sexual content online. Why did you pick a Hispanic name and how dangerous were you really?
Weiner: It was a joke in my personal life between me and one person. I'm not going to comment on anything about the information that that person has chosen to release. They can do whatever they want, try to harm me in any way that they want. I'm moving forward.
I mean as funny as it would be to have a Mayor Carlos Danger, I think he’s a little too busy jacking off to do anything for the city. Okay, how are you going to be mayor of New York City if you’re c*mming like five times a day?
~ Sydney Leathers on Howard Stern via UpRoxx
I felt manipulated," Sydney Leathers told the television program "Inside Edition." "Obviously I felt like he's saying one thing to me, another thing to his wife, saying another thing on the campaign trail. I don't know who the real Anthony Weiner is I guess."
Later, Leathers claimed Weiner became "controlling" toward the end of their online relationship.
"He would tell me that he would be jealous," Leathers said. "He would look at my Facebook frequently. He would tell me that he would get jealous if other men would compliment me. Just little stuff like that."
~ Sydney Leathers on Inside Edition via CNN
He’s a grown man. She’s a young girl and kind of a mixed up kid. She’s bright and she’s pretty but she’s got sucked up in this whole ugly thing and this guy’s a snake and a pervert.
~ A "Close Relative" of Leathers, quoted in The Daily Mail
This chick is so batsh*t you know -- Excuse me. But Leathers is reportedly considering a porn deal now. So that's why I say that this whole thing is such a big mess.
From "Anthony Weiner Called Me Monica" on NSFWCORP Blog by Ex-Weiner Staff Member Olivia Nuzzi
I had been interning on Anthony Weiner's current mayoral campaign for three weeks when he decided to introduce himself. "Come on, everybody! All interns! Anthony wants to say hello." We crowded into Weiner's private office in his new 5th Avenue campaign headquarters, where he stayed reclined in a cheap, black leather chair.
. . . "Okay!" Weiner said loudly, though not enthusiastically. "I'm going to go around the room now and ask you your name and a fact about yourself, and then I'm going to go back around and repeat your name to you." A member of the campaign staff looked on, nervously. "I'm great at this," Weiner said.
. . . "Okay!" Weiner had heard from us all. "Now I'm going to repeat your names back to you. I'm really good at this," he confirmed.
He paused and squinted his eyes at Stephanie.
"Monica?"
"Stephanie."
We all laughed nervously. Monica is an interesting intern name to pick out of the air. (Weiner's wife, we should remember, works for Hillary Clinton.)
"Oh, that's right. Okay, next." He paused again and squinted his eyes at me.
"Monica!"
More nervous laughter. "Olivia."
After getting the following three interns' names wrong, he gave up and released us back into the main office.
Who would work on a campaign like this?
It has been reported that Weiner had difficulty hiring veteran operatives. His choice of a campaign manager led to the headline, “Weiner Said to Hire Relative Unknown to Run Mayoral Campaign.” His communications director last worked as the press secretary for the New Jersey state education commissioner.
There were a lot of short résumés around the office.
The candidate sometimes seemed inexperienced, too.
~ Ex-Operative Olivia Nuzzi writing for NY Daily News
I’m dealing with like stupid f***ing interns who make it on to the cover of the Daily News even though they signed NDAs and/or they proceeded to trash me.
F***ing slutbag. Nice f***ing glamour shot on the cover of the Daily News. Man, see if you ever get a job in this town again.
It’s all bullsh**. I mean, it’s such bullsh**. She could f***ing — f***ing tw*t."
~ Weiner's "Communication Director" Elizabeth Morgan on Olivia Nuzzi's allegations
Anthony Weiner Sexplains His Role as "Carlos Danger"
 photo carlosdanger.jpg
source: cityofbridges.tumblr.com
From The Atlantic
"Good afternoon. My name is Anthony Weiner, Democratic candidate for mayor of the City of New York. I have said that other texts and photos were likely to come out and today they have," Weiner said Tuesday. It was a hastily called press conference in an unused office space at GMHC before a mayoral candidates forum on HIV/AIDS.
Earlier in the day the site The Dirty published new sexy chats and graphic images allegedly sent by Weiner under the pseudonym Carlos Danger.
"As I've said in the past, these things I did were wrong and hurtful to my wife and have caused us to go through many challenges in our marriage that extended past my resignation from Congress," he continued. "While some of the things that have been posted today are true and some are not, there's no question that what I did was wrong. This behavior is behind me. I have apologized to my wife Huma and I am grateful that she has worked through these issues with me and that I have her forgiveness." Weiner also apologized "to anyone who has been on the receiving end of one of these messages."
"With 49 days left to primary day, perhaps I'm surprised more things did not come out sooner," he said. "In many ways things are not much different than they were yesterday."
. . . "We discussed all of this before Anthony decided to run for mayor," [Abedin] said of the day's new revelations. "So really what I want to say is I love him, I have forgiven him, I believe in him and as we have said from the beginning, we are moving forward."
