Trump Keeps Attacking Gold Star Family

Donald Trump thinks he has made more sacrifices than a Muslim soldier who gave his life for this country. And he doesn't mind attacking the man's Gold Star Family to gain support among his racist voters.

And this has been going on now for a week.

Khan spoke on the final night of the Democratic convention, giving a moving tribute to his son before bashing Trump.
"If it was up to Donald Trump, he never would have even been in America," Khan said. "He vows to build walls and ban us from this country. Donald Trump, you're asking Americans to trust you with their future. Let me ask you, have you even read the United States Constitution?"
Khan held up a pocket Constitution and offered to lend it to Trump.
"You have have sacrificed nothing, and no one," he finished.
...In an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, Trump fought back against the idea that he hadn’t made any sacrifices.
"Who wrote that? Did Hillary's script writers write it?" Trump said. Khan declined the use of a speechwriter, according to Politico
"I think I've made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard,” Trump said.
Trump also went after Ghazala Khan, who stood beside her husband during his speech but did not speak. Trump implied that she may not have been allowed to speak because of her religion.
























Tonight Trump's spokeswoman went on CNN and blamed Obama for the soldier's death in 2004. The only problem is that Obama wasn't President in 2004 - he didn't get elected until 2008! Idiot!

Trump Attacks the Press

Donald Trump is now the GOP nominee, so he should expect greater scrutiny from the news media. But Toupee-nator doesn't know how the news media works, and that makes him upset. He wants praise and thanks. All the time. If you don't have something good to say about Trump, you are a sleazy loser. Sad.

Trump was ticked-off that the media wanted to ask him questions about "millions" he supposedly raised for veterans, when there was no proof the vets received the money. God forbid the press should ask questions!

For a year, the news media laughed at Trump and fawned over him for ratings. In return, he kept reporters penned up in a sort of corral behind at fence at most of his events. Now he feels hurt that they are asking him hard questions, so he treats them just like one of his toadies such as the pitiful Chris Christie, calling them names and slamming them for doing their jobs. But unlike Christy, the media doesn't work for Trump, even though it has seemed that way to the public. Maybe this press conference marks the day the media woke up and turned against their grumbly cash cow.

Reporters “are not good people,” he said. “The political press is among the most dishonest people that I’ve ever met,” he said. “The press is so dishonest and so unfair,” he said, without identifying a single thing anyone in the media said on this topic that wasn’t true. When ABC News reporter Tom Llamas asked Trump about his well-known penchant for exaggeration, Trump said, “What I don’t want is when I raise millions of dollars, have people say, like this sleazy guy right over here from ABC. He’s a sleaze in my book.” When Llamas asked why, Trump responded, “You’re a sleaze because you know the facts and you know the facts well.” And this may have been the most revealing part:
“Instead of being like, ‘Thank you very much, Mr. Trump’ or ‘Trump did a good job,’ everyone’s saying ‘Who got it, who got it, who got it,’ and you make me look very bad. I have never received such bad publicity for doing such a good job.”
He actually believes that it’s the job of political reporters covering a presidential candidate to write “Thank you very much, Mr. Trump.” It’s not the press’ job to discover the truth or ask questions or hold the powerful accountable; their job is to promote him and compliment him. And when he doesn’t get the glowing coverage he wants, he attacks.

The billionaire had called the news conference to announce an accounting of his at least $5.6 million in fundraising for veterans groups, but spent most of the 40 minutes criticizing and insulting reporters -- collectively and at times individually -- as "dishonest," "not good people," sleazy, and among the worst human beings he has ever met.
And he vowed the White House briefing room would be just as combative as the Trump Tower lobby, where the developer addressed reporters Tuesday, should he ascend to the Oval Office.
"Yeah, it is going to be like this," Trump said when asked if this is how he would behave with the press as president. "You think I'm gonna change? I'm not gonna change."

Trump Attacks McCain's Military Record

So Donald Trump is mouthing off now at people who aren't even running against him! He decided to attack ex-GOP nominee John McCain who last ran for the presidency in 2008 and lost to Barack Obama, saying that McCain wasn't a war hero because he was captured. 

This kooky statement might hurt Trump to an extent, considering the outpouring of support for Chattanooga after the murder of five military men. The other GOP candidates now have to decide whether to let it go or stand up for McCain, who is unpopular with the Tea Party and considered an establishment RINO (Republican in Name Only). But of course Jeb and the gang are a bunch of hypocrites no matter what they say because they loved it when John Kerry was attacked by the Swiftboaters back in the day.

Oh how sad, the GOP is in a sticky situation. Make more popcorn!

“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
The remarks, which came after days of back-and-forth between McCain and Trump, were met with scattered boos.
McCain, a former Navy pilot, spent roughly five-and-half years in a notorious North Vietnamese prison known as the “Hanoi Hilton,” where he was repeatedly tortured. He spent two of those years in solitary confinement.
. . . He also continued his attacks on the Arizona senator, saying, “I think John McCain’s done very little for the veterans. I’m very disappointed in John McCain.”

John McCain had this reply:
“It’s very bad,” the Republican senator said. “This performance with our friend out in Phoenix is very hurtful to me,” McCain said. “Because what he did was he fired up the crazies.”




Doubling down, Trump refused to apologize for his remarks.

Tripling down, Trump then called McCain a Dummy - you can't make this stuff up!

White House Intruder was well-known to Secret Service

In a scary moment last Friday, a man armed with a knife rushed past Secret Service Agents on the White House lawn and got as far as the door. The first family had just left the building, thank God, but why wasn't this guy stopped? And media is now reporting that the guy is an Iraq veteran who also happened to have 800 rounds of ammo in his car, and he is a repeat-offender with weapons charges in Virginia who was well-known by the Secret Service.

This is baffling and disturbing. Why was this guy allowed anywhere near the White House grounds? At least he is in custody now, but it's worrying that others might try to breeze past security and blow up a bomb or something.

. . . Federal prosecutors said that officers found 800 rounds of ammunition, two hatchets and a machete in the car of Omar Jose Gonzalez, 42, of Texas, after they searched it on Friday. The prosecutors made their disclosure before a judge as they argued that Mr. Gonzalez should continue to be held in jail because he posed a danger to President Obama.

The judge agreed, and Mr. Gonzalez will remain in custody until a hearing next month.

In late August, Secret Service officers stopped Mr. Gonzalez in front of the fence on the White House’s South Lawn after they noticed a hatchet in his waistband, the officials said. The officers searched Mr. Gonzalez’s car, finding two dogs, camping equipment but no weapons. He was not arrested or questioned further.

In July, Mr. Gonzalez was arrested after he led Virginia troopers on a high-speed pursuit along Interstate 81 in Southwest Virginia in his Ford Bronco. After being stopped, police found the vehicle filled with weapons, according to a release by the state police.

Among the items found in Mr. Gonzalez’s vehicle in July was a mini-arsenal of 11 guns including two shotguns and four rifles, some equipped with scopes and bipods that a sniper would use and “a map of Washington, D.C., with writing and a line drawn to the White House,” law enforcement officials said. He also had four pistols, three of them loaded, and a revolver. The inventory of Mr. Gonzales’ vehicle listed by the Virginia State Police indicates the items were found stored in his vehicle’s “bulky floor.”

GOP Food Stamp Cuts Affect Millions

Under the program, known formally as the Supplemental Nutrition and Assistance Program, or SNAP, a family of four that gets $668 per month in benefits will find that amount cut by $36.
SNAP, which benefits one in seven Americans, is administered by the Department of Agriculture and is authorized in a five-year omnibus farm bill covering all agricultural programs.

Confederate Tea Party Storms the Washington Barricades

Washington (CNN) - Angered by the closure of national landmarks due to the partial government shutdown, a crowd of conservatives removed barricades Sunday at the World War II Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial as they rallied against President Barack Obama and Democrats for their role in the ongoing stalemate.

High-profile speakers with close ties to the tea party appeared at the event, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

. . . One speaker went as far as saying the president was a Muslim and separately urged the crowd of hundreds to initiate a peaceful uprising.

"I call upon all of you to wage a second American nonviolent revolution, to use civil disobedience, and to demand that this president leave town, to get up, to put the Quran down, to get up off his knees, and to figuratively come out with his hands up," said Larry Klayman of Freedom Watch, a conservative political advocacy group.

Chuck Hagel Vs. GOP Senators

I have one fundamental question that I asked myself on every vote I took, every decision made: Was the policy worthy of the men and women that we were sending into battle and surely to their deaths?
I saw it from the bottom. I saw what happens. I saw the consequences and the suffering and horror of war.

As to the comment I made about the most dangerous foreign policy decision since Vietnam — was about not just the surge but the overall war of choice going into Iraq. That particular decision that was made on the surge, but more to the point, our war in Iraq, I think was the most fundamentally bad, dangerous decision since Vietnam. Aside from the costs that occurred in this country to blood and treasure, aside what that did to take our focus off of Afghanistan, which in fact was the original and real focus of a national threat to this country — Iraq was not — I always tried to frame all the different issues before I made a decision on anything.
Now just as you said, Senator, we can have differences of opinion.

SEN. MCCAIN: But –

MR. HAGEL: That’s essentially why I took the position I did.

The undercaffeinated Hagel was clearly over-rehearsed into a near stupor by his White House handlers. He was hardly impressive. But compared to his inquisitors, he was Churchill.

The surge did not “win” the war as McCain would now have us believe; all the surge did was provide the cover that enabled us to pull out of the Iraq fiasco with some dignity intact and to spare Iraq hawks like McCain more humiliation. To put it bluntly, Chuck Hagel did not acquit himself well. He was sluggish, tongue-tied and practically meek in the face of constant badgering by Republicans. He's far from the most dynamic speaker, stammers constantly and appears to agonize over every word he utters. This gave GOP Senators every opportunity to constantly interrupt him with even more leading and obnoxious questions.

I'm all for asking Hagel, but I don't think it matters who the secretary of defense is, folks.
Look, I know a lot of people get caught up in this, but Obama is the secretary of defense. Obama is the secretary of commerce. Obama is the secretary of state. These people are the fall guys for when things go wrong. But Obama's running everything here. The reason Chuck Hagel's gonna be secretary of defense is when something goes wrong, he's gonna take the blame for it. He's the fall guy. It's the same thing with Kerry at secretary of state. That's all that's happening here.
. . . Chuck Hagel is being ripped to shreds. Senator McCain ripping him to shreds for his use of the term "the Jewish lobby." Hagel said, "I only said that once in my whole career." But a lot of people are dumping on Hagel. All I need to know, folks, is Marco Rubio just said he's voting against Hagel. So I would, too, then. If Rubio's against Hagel, I'm against Hagel. Ahem. (I'm winking here, folks. Don't tell anybody. This is just between us.) At any rate, Hagel is the placeholder. John Kerry is the placeholder.

I want everyone to know that the Senate Armed Services Committee, of which I am the Ranking Member, will have a period to provide oversight and review. During that time, if necessary, we will be able to introduce legislation to stop any changes we believe to be detrimental to our fighting forces and their capabilities. I suspect there will be cases where legislation becomes necessary.

Feminist ideologues have pooh-poohed the notion that sexual attraction is a major problem when you put young men and women together in close quarters for long periods of time under the stress of combat situations. They act as if both males and females will resist temptation and if they don't that there will be no significant consequences anyway.
. . . But the consequences for love affairs gone wrong, rivalry among suitors or even the distraction that sex can provide from other duties are very different in a college setting than they are in the middle of battle.
Unit cohesion is a major factor in the success of any military objective. Inject sexual rivalry and tension into a small group of soldiers whose decisions mean life and death, and you are likely to get more of the latter.

Women in Combat a Dangerous Experiment
This combat environment -- now containing males and females -- will place a tremendous burden on combat commanders. Not only will they have to maintain their focus on defeating the enemy in battle, they will have to do so in an environment that combines life-threatening danger with underlying sexual tensions. This is a lot to ask of the young leaders, both men and women, who will have to juggle the need to join and separate the sexes within the context of quickly developing and deadly situations.
Is the experiment worth placing this burden on small unit leaders? I think it is asking too much.

Chris Hayes Totally Overthinks the Word Hero

Why do I feel so uncomfortable about the word ‘hero’? I feel uncomfortable about the word hero because it seems to me that it is so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war. Um, and, I don’t want to obviously desecrate or disrespect memory of anyone that’s fallen, and obviously there are individual circumstances in which there is genuine, tremendous heroism, you know, hail of gunfire, rescuing fellow soldiers and things like that. But it seems to me that we marshal this word in a way that is problematic. But maybe I’m wrong about that.

As many have rightly pointed out, it's very easy for me, a TV host, to opine about the people who fight our wars, having never dodged a bullet or guarded a post or walked a mile in their boots. Of course, that is true of the overwhelming majority of our nation's citizens as a whole.....But in seeking to discuss the civilian-military divide and the social distance between those who fight and those who don't, I ended up reinforcing it, conforming to a stereotype of a removed pundit whose views are not anchored in the very real and very wrenching experience of this long decade of war. And for that I am truly sorry.

So yes Mr. Hayes to the extent that dying did not make my son or any other man or woman killed in war a hero I agree. They were and are heroes long before the war wounds or kills them. They are heroes when they courageously put themselves at risk by investing their lives in this nation and freedom.
Mr. Hayes.. I feel somewhat sorry for you.. that you have never loved anything or anyone enough to stand up and put your life on the line to fight for it. You see that is what makes a hero...something you obviously do not understand.

Chris Hayes' recent remarks on MSNBC regarding our fallen service members are reprehensible and disgusting. His words reflect his obvious disregard for the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have paid the ultimate price while defending our nation. His insipid statement is particularly callous because it comes at a time when our entire nation pauses to reflect and honor the memory of our nations' fallen heroes.

Apparently he is the arbiter of what acts actually equal heroism. And, oh, his comfort. As long as he’s “comfortable.” That is what is important! We wonder if he said it while chewing contemplatively on his hipster glasses? We also wonder if he’d like to tell the children of the fallen that calling their mommies and daddies heroes makes him “uncomfortable.”

One is reminded anew of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s famous comment that the sign of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time, and still retain the ability to function. But the funny thing is that in this case, saying that (a) certain wars might be objectionable, and (b) the soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines fighting them are heroic are not even opposed ideas. So it is possible that Hayes has failed to display even a fifth-rate intelligence. Scary stuff.

During the Bush war the GOP was all too willing to politicize military service: "Love our war or you hate the troops." Yellow ribbon magnets became thought-killing pro war bumper stickers. The legacy of Bush-era war propaganda is that it's become difficult to separate personal bravery and morally repugnant use of the military. If the country is going to heal from the Bush years, we're eventually going to have to have this conversation. Unfortunately for Chris Hayes and the rest of America, neocon casket-riders are still controlling the debate.

In an election year, you can't give the GOP any openings to spew their propaganda. Their only issues to run on are missteps by the left which will be pounded into the conscious of the swing states. Hayes had no reason to go there, especially given the nature of the guest's conversation. Ponder issues like that in your own time Chris-----the GOP uses things like this to make you hesitate before speaking out on all issues. That said, he's usually got some great insight.
