So Mitt Romney thinks he should run for President again, and is throwing his hat into the ring for 2016. After all, it's his destiny and his birthright, and as his wife Ann pointed out, "it's our turn" to be in the White House. After all, Mitt is better than every other GOP candidate, and let's face it, he thinks he is better than most people, even 47% of the people, or even more. And he has Romnesia, so he doesn't remember all his gaffes from the last election, when he LOST big time. There's always that Etch-A-Sketch ploy to start all over again. Because that worked so well last time . . . oh wait . . . .

From MSNBC
Kasie Hunt and Benjy Sarlin reported over the weekend:
The 2012 Republican presidential nominee told a small group of donors in New York City on Friday that he’s looking at a third White House bid, said Spencer Zwick, who was Romney’s finance chairman in 2012 and who attended Friday’s event.
“People ask if I really want to be president,” Romney said, according to a source in the room. “Yeah, I want to be president.”
A source close to Romney told msnbc, “He’s more open to it, based on all the encouragement he’s received.”

GOP Rebranding ~ Racist Rogues and Rodeo Clowns

 photo obama-rodeo-clown.png

A rodeo clown at the Missouri State Fair put on a mask of President Barack Obama, and an announcer asked an enthusiastic crowd whether they wanted to see “Obama trampled by a bull,” according to a witness and video posted online.
Gov. Jay Nixon, a Democrat, said through a spokesman that the antics were “disrespectful and offensive,” and Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, a Republican, said on Twitter: “We are better than this.”
~ NBC News

. . . voice is heard over the loudspeaker working up the crowd and saying, "We're going to stomp Obama now."
"As soon as this bull comes out, Obama, don't you move," the second voice said. "He's going to getcha, getcha getcha, getcha."
"Hey, I know I'm a clown," the second voice said. "He's just running around acting like one. Doesn't know he is one." ...
~ CNN News

I am amazed that in 2013, such hatred, intolerance and disrespect towards the President of the United States could take place at the Missouri State Fair. Our fair is supposed to showcase the best of Missouri, instead, it showed an ugly face of intolerance and ignorance to the world.
~ Congressman William Lacy Clay (D) Missouri

Poking fun at our president is a time-honored tradition in this country, but the incident Saturday night at the Missouri State Fair rodeo went well beyond the line. The concept of an angry bull attempting to trample a black man for the amusement of a crowd is neither entertaining nor funny and is not the type of behavior that our taxpayer-subsidized State Fair should promote.
“House Democrats will be asking House Speaker Tim Jones to immediately appoint an interim committee to investigate this incident and to consider whether continued taxpayer funding is appropriate for an event that allows such racist actions to occur.
~ Missouri House Minority Leader Jake Hummel (D) and Assistant House Minority Leader Gail McCann Beatty (D)

And it was just last week on this program where I . . . talked about Obama going on a comedy show to tell us something very serious about foreign policy, and I said this is diminishing the office of the presidency, the way Obama’s handling this, just totally diminishing it. He is reducing the office to the lowest common denominator, and I would suggest to you that whatever the truth of this thing is in Missouri, the clown putting on the Obama mask, is representative of the fact that there is a declining overall respect for the office of the presidency.
When the president of the United States more often than not connects with the American people on late-night comedy shows, what else can happen, other than the diminishing of the office.
~ Rush Limbaugh

From the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association
The Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association would like to extend a sincere apology for the inappropriate act during the Bull Riding at the Saturday performance of the MRCA Rodeo. The MRCA Board of Directors and over 600 members do not condone nor approve of this sort of activity. The MRCA Board of Directors is dealing with the situation firmly and quickly as this type of behavior will not be tolerated. The Sport of Rodeo is not meant to be a political platform. We are taking measures by training and educating our contract acts to prevent anything like this from ever happening again. All Members of the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association are very proud of our Country and our President. Once again our apologies to the Missouri State Fair and the fans who were in attendance and we hope to see you at another rodeo soon.

The president of the rodeo cowboy association — who doubled as rodeo announcer at the event Saturday — said on Monday he was not aware that a “rogue rodeo clown” planned to stage the performance.
“The rodeo clown did an act that was not in the script, it was not approved by the board of directors of MCRA and it was not appropriate,” rodeo association president Mark Ficken told NBC affiliate KSHB in Kansas City, Mo. “We extend our apologies to the Missouri State Fair. Rodeo is not a political platform and will not be again. We are taking disciplinary action.”

Donald Trump Keeping Birtherism Alive:

From This Week On ABC

Jonathan Karl, ABC News to Donald Trump: You said a lot of things over the years that people say make you not serious. One of the big things is on the birth certificates.

Trump: Why does that make me not serious? I think that resonated with a lot of people.

Karl: But you don't still question he (Obama) was born in the United States, do you?

Trump: I have no idea.
Karl: Even at this point?

Trump: Was there a birth certificate? You tell me. You know some people say that was not his birth certificate. Nobody knows. You don't know either. You're a smart guy, Jonathan, and you don't know either. Nobody knows.

Karl: I'm pretty convinced.

Trump: Ah! You said pretty.

Karl: Totally, without question, convinced.

Trump: You said you're pretty convinced, okay? Let's see what happens over time, but it's not my issue, Jonathan. My issue right now is much different. Wait a minute -- my issue is economic. Our country is being ripped apart by China and many other countries. That's my issue.

Karl: But on this issue, people thought you were out of line --

Trump: You said you're pretty sure. You can't be pretty sure, that's not acceptable. You have to be 100% sure.

Karl: I'm 100% sure.

Trump: I don't think you are.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
More Birthers Lurking Out There . . .
. . . if [the birth certificate] is truly illegal, he (Obama) shouldn't be there and we can get rid of everything and I said I agree with that.
But is that the best way to spend our time?
~ Florida Rep. Ted Yoho, via Huff Post
Yoho recalled a conversation with House Speaker John Boehner.
"And then I had a little fun with Boehner," Yoho said. "I told him about the sun tanning tax. He goes ‘I didn't know that was in there.'
I said, ‘Yeah, it's a 10 percent tax.' He goes ‘Well, it's probably not meant as that big of a deal.' I said ‘It's a racist tax.' "
At that point, the crowd at the joint meeting of the Gainesville, Gilchrist County and North Central Florida tea party groups erupted in cheering, laughter and clapping.
Yoho then continued. "He (Boehner) started laughing and he goes, ‘You know what? It is,' " Yoho said.
"And I have an Indian doctor in our office the other day. Very dark-skinned. And two non-dark-skinned people. And I said this to him. And they started laughing. And I said 'Have you ever been to a tanning booth?' And he goes ‘No, no need.'
So therefore it's a racist tax and I thought I might even go to a tanning booth twice so I can come out and say I've been disenfranchised. I got taxed because of the color of my skin. I mean as crazy as that sounds, that's what the left does. By God, if it works for them, it'll work for us."
~ Ted Yoho via Gainesville.com
I think unfortunately the horse is already out of the barn on this, on the whole birth certificate issue. The original Congress when his eligibility came up should have looked into this and they didn’t. I’m not sure how we fix it.
You tie into a question I get a lot, if everybody's so unhappy with what the President’s done, why don’t you impeach him. I’ll give you a real frank answer about that, if we were to impeach the President tomorrow, you could probably get the votes in the House of Representatives to do it. But it would go to the Senate and he wouldn’t be convicted.
~ Texas Rep Blake Farenthold at a Town Hall Meeting, via TPM
Obama the Racial Divider
“This week I heard the president talk about phony scandals. There’s nothing phonier than the words that have come out of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. about reuniting this country, bringing us together as a people. No, he’s not a uniter; he’s a divider. He divides us on race, he divides us on income. He picks winners and losers.
. . . Listen, I’ll tell you what: It’s self-evident. I don’t know if people who aren’t reading or not watching, maybe, don’t have the same opinion, but I think it’s pretty obvious where we’re going with some of this stuff.
. . . People tell me all the time, ‘the trouble with you people is, you just don’t understand.’ Let me tell you something: I understand. I get it. I’ve watched how much erosion we’ve had. I’ve watched how much our freedom and liberty is under attack. No, I understand it.
~ Pennsylvania Rep Mike Kelly, via Roll Call
From Arizona Central
Hundreds of protesters wielded signs, chanted slogans and argued with each other Tuesday outside Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, while President Barack Obama spoke about housing and the economy inside.
. . . Obama foes at one point sang, "Bye Bye Black Sheep," a derogatory reference to the president's skin color, while protesters like Deanne Bartram raised a sign saying, "Impeach the Half-White Muslim!"
. . . “Obama is ruining American values. He is ruining the Constitution. He needs to go back to where he came from because obviously, he is a liar,” she said. “I am not racist. I am part Indian. Obama’s half Black, half White.”
“He’s 47 percent Negro,” shouted Ron Enderle, a 77-year-old Chandler resident who said that he and his son served as Marines and his grandson is currently serving in the Marines.
Enderle criticized the president mishandling security at the U.S. Benghazi Embassy.
“My grandson is third generation Marine, and it bothers me to have this man as our commander in chief. I’m ashamed,” Enderle said.Judy Burris said that she blames Obama for racism in America reaching heights not seen since the 1960s Civil-Rights Era.
“We have gone back so many years,” she said. “He’s divided all the races. I hate him for that.”
She said that she brought her 12-year-old grandson Christian Cabrera to the protests because she thought it would be educational.
“He’s Mexican,” she said of her grandson.
Cabrera said he wanted to accompany his grandma “so I could protest about impeaching Obama.”
Return of the Romneys
 photo thurston.jpg
 photo 120131_mitt_ann_rally_ap_3281.jpg
I'd say he (Mitt) is in a better place than (Ann) is. Not to say she’s bitter — and she enjoys her life. Look, they live on the beach, north of San Diego and a bunch of their grandkids are around. You know, they’ve got a pretty great life. But she I think feels the pain and the what-ifs and the hurt more than he does. And it comes through in the interview. There’s a lot of emotion that comes through in the interview, and she’s more open about it — the ‘what might have been.
~ Chris Wallace of Fox News on Recent Romney Interview
Transcript: Chris Wallace Interviews the Romneys on Fox News
On Losing:
ANN ROMNEY: It was a crushing disappointment. Not for us. Our lives are going to be fine. It's for the country.
WALLACE: Is it true you began to cry?
ANN ROMNEY: I did, of course. Yes. Very disappointed.
WALLACE: Cry for what?
ANN ROMNEY: Cry -- it's not -- again, is not sorrow for, oh, my gosh, you know, our lives are, you know, this dream -- the dream was to make a difference. The dream was to serve.
~~~~~~

WALLACE: Mrs. Romney, as we sit here right now, have you gotten over the defeat? Or is that going to take more time?
ANN ROMNEY: I think it takes time. I think I'm mostly -- you know, the great "Princess Bride" line, "mostly dead."
I'm mostly over it. But not completely.
And you have moments where you, you know, go back and feel the sorrow of the loss. And so, yes, I think we're not mostly dead yet.

Why Did Obama Win?

ANN ROMNEY: I think they had a better ground game. And I think we were not aware -- you know, we certainly had the passion coming from our side, and I don't think we were as aware of the passion that was coming from the other side. I think we were a little blindsided by that.

~~~~~~
MITT ROMNEY: And -- and I won't get a third chance. I'm not doing it again. The weakness that our campaign had and that I had is we weren't effective in taking my message primarily to minority voters, to Hispanic-Americans, African-Americans, other minorities. That was a real weakness.
We did very well with the majority population, but not with minority populations. And that was a -- that was a failing. That was a real mistake.
WALLACE: Why do you think that was?
MITT ROMNEY: Well, I think the ObamaCare attractiveness and feature was something we underestimated in a -- particularly among lower incomes. And we just didn't do as -- as good a job at connecting with that audience as we should have.
 photo Picture-44-607x345.png
On Their Media Image as Wealthy People
WALLACE: Do you think that the two of you at all contributed to this image, which the other side certainly played up, that you were so wealthy that you were somehow out of touch with the concerns of the average American?
ANN ROMNEY: You know, that's -- that's a reality that, you know, you can't change. I mean, we are who we are. The thing that was frustrating to me is that people didn't really get to know Mitt for who he was.
. . . But it was not just the campaign's fault. I believe it was the media's fault as well, is that he was not giving -- being given a fair shake, that people weren't allowed to really see him for who he was.
WALLACE: All right, what about the media?
(LAUGHTER)
ANN ROMNEY: I'm happy to blame the media.
(LAUGHTER)
On the Damaging 47% Remark
MITT ROMNEY: Yes, it was a very unfortunate statement that I made. It's not what I meant. I didn't express myself as I wished I would have.
You know, when you speak in private, you don't spend as much time thinking about how something could be twisted and distorted and -- and it could come out wrong and be used.
But, you know, I did. And it was very harmful. What I said is not what I believe. Obviously, my whole campaign -- my whole life has been devoted to helping people, all of the people. I care about all the people of the country.
But that hurt. There's no question that hurt and did real damage to my campaign.
Snark Amendment: Romney Blames Loss on Obama "Gifts" to Minorities
Romney Blames Loss on Obama "Gifts" to Minorities ~ Updated
Photobucket
The Obama campaign was following the old playbook of giving a lot of stuff to groups that they hoped they could get to vote for them and be motivated to go out to the polls, specifically the African American community, the Hispanic community and young people. In each case they were very generous in what they gave to those groups.
. . .The president's campaign focused on giving targeted groups a big gift — so he made a big effort on small things. Those small things, by the way, add up to trillions of dollars.
. . . I am very sorry that we didn't win. I know that you expected to win. We expected to win.... It was very close, but close doesn't count in this business.
~ Romney in conference call to "hundreds of donors" via LA Times
The surprise was some of the turnout, some of the turnout especially in urban areas, which gave President Obama the big margin to win this race.
~ Ex-VP Candidate Paul Ryan
Just an odd, silly, stupid thing to say.
~ Ex-RNC Chairman, Michael Steele on MSNBC
No, I think that’s absolutely wrong. Two points on that: One, we have got to stop dividing the American voters. We need to go after 100 percent of the votes, not 53 percent. We need to go after every single vote.
And, secondly, we need to continue to show how our policies help every voter out there achieve the American Dream, which is to be in the middle class, which is to be able to give their children an opportunity to be able to get a great education. … So, I absolutely reject that notion, that description. I think that’s absolutely wrong.
~ Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, breaking off with Romney/Ryan, probably to boost his own chances of running for President in 2016
Updates:
The Republican Party is going to fight for every single vote. That means the 47 percent and the 53 percent…We’ve got to make sure that we are not the party of big business, big banks, big Wall Street bailouts, big corporate loopholes, big anything. We cannot be, we must not be, the party that simply protects the rich so they get to keep their toys.
~ Gov. Bobby Jindal
This is completely unhelpful. This is not where the Republican Party needs to go. If you want voters to like you, the first thing you've got to do is like them first.
~ Gov. Bobby Jindal on CNN
I don't want to rebut him point by point. I would just say to you, I don't believe that we have millions and millions of people in this country that don't want to work. I'm not saying that's what he said. I think we have millions of people in this country that are out of work and are dependent on the government because they can't find a job.
~ Senator Marco Rubio of Florida on Romney's remarks
I don’t agree with the comments. I think the campaign is over and what the voters are looking for us to do is to accept their votes and then go forward.
~ Senator Kelly Ayotte R-NH on MSNBC
The losing GOP presidential candidate unloaded a cartful of sour grapes on his top donors Wednesday, saying President Obama won because he handed out “big gifts” to blacks, Hispanics and young voters.
Romney Still Hates 47% of America
I think the latest Romney donor remarks ought to put to rest the debate about his sincerity. When the 47 percent remarks emerged, I argued that it was the real Romney speaking. Some moderate Republicans suggested he was merely pandering to people whose donations he badly needed. I never thought this made much sense — surely Romney had ways of relating to wealthy Republicans without launching an extended analysis he didn't believe — but the latest version of essentially the same riff ought to put that debate to rest. He's never running again. He doesn't need these people. The real Romney is indeed a sneering plutocrat.
~ Jonathan Chait on New York Mag
Conservatives have constructed a myth that says certain groups—blacks, Hispanics, women, young people—vote Democratic because they’re stupid, because they’re lazy, and because they can be purchased with trinkets and baubles. It’d be one thing if they kept that myth a secret, but instead they shout it from the rooftops. Then, when it’s over, they wonder why those people voted Democratic again.
~ Alex Koppelman on The New Yorker
I think African-Americans, Latinos, and young people would love to take credit for defeating Mitt Romney. What really is remarkable here is that Romney appears to think that the sectors of society that supported Obama are somehow illegitimate; that responding to their needs (unlike the needs of, say, millionaire bankers) is a perversion of the political process.
Imagine voting not only to protect the social and political gains made in your interest, but also to prevent those who pledged to erode those gains from taking office! How uppity!
~ Jamil Smith on MSNBC
Mitt Romney, exit stage right. A little quicker, please …
So let me get this straight: When Romney, in the first debate, promised a tax cut to the middle class, he wasn’t promising them a gift? When he wooed his backers on Wall Street by telling them that he would repeal Dodd Frank, abolish the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau and lower corporate taxes, that wasn’t promising a gift?
When he went to Viriginia to promise to build even more nuclear-powered submarines that just happened to be built right there in Virginia, that wasn’t a gift? When he went to coal country to promise to weaken environmental regulations that protect the air we breathe, that wasn’t a gift? When he traveled to Florida to promise to replace $716 billion in Medicare funding allegedly cut by the Obama administration, that wasn’t a gift?
Or is it only a “gift” when offered to poor African Americans or Hispanic Americans?
All in all, it is quite something to see complaints about pandering from a man who wafted in the political breeze with all the gravity of a dandelion seed.
"Atlas Scrubbed" - Paul Ryan Fakes Charity at Ohio Soup Kitchen
PaulRyanCharityFailure
From CBS News
Brian J. Antag, president of the Mahoning County St. Vincent De Paul Society in Youngstown, told the Washington Post that the Romney campaign had not asked to make the Saturday visit to the soup kitchen. He said that he runs an apolitical faith-based organization which has bylaws barring it from hosting political candidates, and that the visit jeopardized donations from private individuals.
"They showed up there and they did not have permission," he said. "They got one of the volunteers to open up the doors." Antag added that Ryan and his family "did nothing" while on the premises.
"He just came in here to get his picture taken at the dining hall," he said.
Our campaign and Congressman Ryan were pleased to bring attention to the meaningful charitable contributions the St. Vincent De Paul Society makes to people in need.
Actually, it had nothing to do with staging a "reg'lar" guy photo of Rep. Ryan donning an apron and washing dishes.
He was merely trying to find a water source.
I mean, come on. After Thursday night's performance, we know how important hydration is to Ryan.
The apron was a ruse. Workout boy needed to rehydrate.
Minutes after this photo was taken, he was seen tearing off the top of a fire hydrant right outside the building.
Cheshire Cat Joe Biden Wins VP Debate
Photobucket
gif via BuzzFeed
ABC News: Vice Presidential Debate Transcript
BIDEN: But I always say what I mean. And so does Romney.
RYAN: We want everybody to succeed. We want to get people out of poverty, in the middle class, onto a life of self-sufficiently. We believe in opportunity and upward mobility. That's what we're going to push for in a Romney administration.
RADDATZ: Vice president? I have a feeling you have a few things to say here.
BIDEN: The idea -- if you heard that -- that little soliloquy on 47 percent and you think he just made a mistake, then I think you're -- I -- I think -- I got a bridge to sell you.
Photobucket
~~~~~~

BIDEN: I love my friend here. I -- I'm not allowed to show letters but go on our website, he sent me two letters saying, "By the way, can you send me some stimulus money for companies here in the state of Wisconsin?" We sent millions of dollars. You know...

(CROSSTALK)

RADDATZ: You did ask for stimulus money, correct?

BIDEN: Sure he did. By the way...

RYAN: On two occasions we -- we -- we advocated for constituents who were applying for grants. That's what we do. We do that for all constituents who are...

(CROSSTALK) BIDEN: I love that. I love that. This was such a bad program and he writes me a letter saying -- writes the Department of Energy a letter saying, "The reason we need this stimulus, it will create growth and jobs." His words. And now he's sitting here looking at me.

. . . I wish he would just tell -- be a little more candid.

. . . By the way, any letter you send me, I'll entertain.

RYAN: I appreciate that, Joe.

(LAUGHTER)

~~~~~~
BIDEN: Number two, "guaranteed benefit"? It's a voucher. When they first proposed -- when the congressman had his first voucher program, the CBO said it would cost $6,400 a year, Martha, more for every senior, 55 and below, when they got there. He knew that, yet he got all the guys in Congress and women in the Republican Party to vote for it. Governor Romney, knowing that, said, I would sign it, were I there.
Who you believe, the AMA, me, a guy who's fought his whole life for this, or somebody who would actually put in motion a plan that knowingly cut -- added $6,400 a year more to the cost of Medicare?
Now they got a new plan: "Trust me, it's not going to cost you any more." Folks, follow your instincts on this one.
And with regard to Social Security, we will not -- we will not privatize it. If we had listened to Romney, Governor Romney, and the congressman during the Bush years, imagine where all those seniors would be now if their money had been in the market.
Their ideas are old and their ideas are bad, and they eliminate the guarantee of Medicare.
RYAN: Here's the problem. They got caught with their hands in the cookie jar, turning Medicare into a piggybank for Obamacare. Their own actuary from the administration came to Congress and said one out of six hospitals and nursing homes are going to go out of business as a result of this.
BIDEN: That's not what they said.
RYAN: 7.4 million seniors are projected to lose their current Medicare Advantage coverage they have. That's a $3,200 benefit cut.
BIDEN: That didn't happen.
RYAN: What we're saying...
BIDEN: More people signed up.
RYAN: These are from your own actuaries.
BIDEN: More -- more -- more people signed up for Medicare Advantage after the change.
RYAN: What -- there's...
BIDEN: Nobody is...
(CROSSTALK)
RYAN: Mr. Vice President, I know...
BIDEN: No, this is...
(CROSSTALK)
RYAN: Mr. Vice President, I know you're under a lot of duress to make up for lost ground, but I think people would be better served if we don't keep interrupting each other.
BIDEN: Well, don't take all the four minutes then.
A Gathering of Debate Predictions
Photobucket
Pic from Gifwich Liveblog
My Prediction:
Ryan Says 30% are "Takers, Not Makers" ~ homage to Ayn Rand
Photobucket
Seventy percent of Americans want the American dream. They believe in the American idea. Only 30 percent want the welfare state. Before too long, we could become a society where the net majority of Americans are takers, not makers.
~ Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan, via Huffington Post
“Public welfare is the welfare of those who do not earn it; those who do, are entitled to no welfare.”
— John Galt
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (Part 3, Chapter 7)
And what is notable about these and will effect the debate tomorrow is that Mr. Ryan makes the same case that Mitt Romney was making when he made those devastating 47 percent remarks. In Mr. Ryan’s case, he doesn’t use the phrase ’47 percent.’ He picks a slightly different figure. For him, the figure is 30 percent.
. . . This idea that a large proportion of the country are just dependent, mooching victims to whom the American dream is inapplicable, who are beyond the reach of the kind of politics the Republican ticket is offering, it turns out it is both guys on the ticket who believe that.
~ Rachel Maddow on MSNBC, quoted by Raw Story
Why is Ryan dissing the GOP base?
~ comment by BOBINMO on Huffington Post
I don't mind Paul saying that because he has a vast experience outside the government. Oh wait.......
~ comment by Enlightened22 on Huffington Post
Ryan's family's construction company was successful...on GOVERNMENT CONTACTS for rural highways...
Ryan funded his college with SOCIAL SECURITY...
after a short run in the private sector as the Oscar Mayer We_in_er Moblie Driver...
has spent the last 14 YEARS ON THE GOVERNMENT PAYROLL...
in which time he authored TWO BILLS. That's ONE BILL every 7 YEARS.
It sounds to me like he's the one living off the taxpayer and not wanting to work.
~ comment by EllisIsland on Huffington Post
47% layabouts? 30% lazy bums? Who's right about Americans? Mitt Romney or Paul Ryan?
Peas in a pod. Both Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have complete disdain for a large portion of Americans. They just disagree about whether nearly half are lazy, Obama-voting bums unwilling to give up their government handouts or nearly a third are.
. . . The contempt with which this pair holds tens of millions of Americans oozes from their pores and other orifices. On that score, we should consider ourselves lucky. Many plutocrats have learned how to conceal their scorn, making them far more palatable to voters who don't look past their veneer.
~ Meteor Blades on Daily Kos
Ryan actually used Makers and Takers. No dog whistles with that guy. Straight up Rand.
Nobody told Ryan that Atlas Shrugged was a work of fiction. Bad fiction at that.
The public polls are what the public polls are. I kind of hope the Obama campaign is basing their campaign on what the public polls say. We don’t. We have confidence in our data and our metrics.
. . . I will put our operation up against anybody’s. But at the end of the day, Ohio is going to come down to the wire and we’ll be in it down to the wire and I’m confident that we will win.
~ Romney Political Director Rick Beeson to reporters, via NBC News
Despite all the noise created by all those media-commissioned skewed polls that appear to have President Obama leading, Mitt Romney is actually winning the presidential race as of today.
From BuzzFeed
Dean Chambers, a blogger on Examiner.com who writes from his home in Duffield, Virginia, took that complaint a step further — producing wide Romney leads far beyond what the Republican's campaign or Republican pollsters have suggested is the case.
He created the site unskewedpolls.com, retooling national polling data this July after reading an ABC News/Washington Post poll that "just didn't look right." Looking at the internal data, Chambers saw that the polling unit had sampled more Democrats than Republicans.
"There's no way they can justify that sample," Chambers, 44, told BuzzFeed.
Since July, Chambers has re-weighted national polling data from organizations like Gallup, ARG, and the three networks, to fit the Rasmussen Reports partisan trends. Chambers has published 30 "unskewed" polls on his website and on examiner.com, a national network that pays independent bloggers on a wide range of subject by traffic. In the last month, Chambers's tooled polls have Romney up by seven or more points.
You can think of UnSkewed Polls as the web site equivalent of Advil. You take the site two times a day for relief from all the aches and pains caused by ingesting data from the usual polls, skewed by the oversampling of Democrats, resulting in depressing supporters of Team Romney.
Warning label: Taking UnSkewed Polls twice daily may cause delusions and euphoria.
The only reason anyone thinks Obama is leading today are the polls. If this were 1920 and no polls existed I suspect the presumption would be that the race was close but the challenger has the upper hand. Instead we have a daily inundation of polls that tell us (in aggregate and on their face) that Barack Obama is ahead.
Trouble is, Mitt's data comes from brunches with millionaires, church surveys, and homeschoolers.
What is interesting is that no Republican has ever won the Presidency without Ohio.
Yet President Obama can lose Ohio and Florida and still win.
If Romney loses Florida he cannot win {period}
The polls are screwed. They're plucking out liberal [responders].
It looks more like it's Mitt that's screwed.
Romney: We will not be dictated to by facts, reality, or decency, all of which are tools of the 47% entitled class.
Romney internal poll: 80% of the people working on the Romney campaign are going to vote for Romney. 20% are undecided.
Reince Priebus Has Oozing Eyeballs, Can't See the Truth
I'll tell you about specifics. First of all, Mitt Romney talks about, all the time, about reducing the GDP spending from 25 cents on the dollar down to 20, reducing small business taxes from 35 to 25, reducing income taxes across the board by 20 percent.
I mean, for crying out loud, we’ve got Paul Ryan on the ticketAs far as specifics go, we're the only ones talking about how to save Medicare. The president's the one that raided Medicare by $700 billion.
I mean, we've got specifics coming out of our eyeballs.
We need to keep pounding away on those specifics and keep talking about those specifics so that the American people know.
~ Reince Priebus, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, on ABC News This Week
Talking About Romney's "Hell Week" beginning with the Secret 47% Video and ending with releasing one tax return that was still controversial, plus having a tantrum on Univision, Reince told George Stephanopoulos of ABC News:
I think that we had a good week last week, I think in retrospect, in that we were able to frame up the debate last week in the sense of, what future do we want,” Priebus said this morning on “This Week.”
“I think we can look back at last week as a campaign in a couple months and say, this was the defining week in both campaigns,” Priebus said earlier, “where I think both campaigns are crystallizing around a central theme, which is going to be, what kind of future do we want for our kids and grandkids? What type of America do we want for this country?”
. . . he conceded that last week was not the “best” of the campaign for Romney.
“I think Governor Romney’s been pretty clear, it probably wasn’t the best-said moment in the campaign and probably not the best week in the campaign,” Priebus said.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I don’t know what prism he’s looking through. I don’t think anybody else would define it as a good week. But it was an enlightening week. The week began with Governor Romney basically slandering 47 percent of America, saying that they were, you know, hooked on dependency, didn’t pay their taxes, and so on.

~ Obama Adviser David Axelrod on ABC's This Week

Not only did Priebus sound like he was hung over from a bad night on Ambien, but he also carried on Team Romney’s tradition of spouting blatant hypocrisy and provable lies.

Of course you have specifics. "Forty-seven percent of Americans are parasites, and they'll all vote for their free meal ticket." How much more specific can you get?

Did anyone catch Priebus comment lamenting the "good old days" growing up as the son of a UNION electrical worker? They've go something coming out of their eyeballs, but it's certainly not specifics. It's the hypocrisy, stupid.
