Epic Insults Greet Trump in Scotland

Donald Trump appeared at his new Scottish Golf Resort called "Turnberry" on the morning of the Brexit fiasco. At a press conference, reporters urged him to give insights into the world implications of the historic vote in Britain, but The Donald mainly wanted to sell hotel space to people taking advantage of the falling pound. He came across like a clueless used car salesman talking to the local Elk's Club instead of a possible world leader. History? What history?




Also, Scotland wasn't exactly happy to see Trump either. One local put up a Mexican flag which could be seen from the golf course. A comedian showed up with a box full of golf balls painted with swastikas, and was led away by security.





Trump made a gaffe about Brexit as soon as his plane landed that morning - implying that Scotland was celebrating, or as he put it "going wild" over leaving the European Union. The problem is, Scotland voted as a whole to REMAIN. And believe me, Twitter let him know just how wrong he was with some of the best insults the world has ever seen!

England's Historic #Brexit Shakes Up the World

Britain voted on a referendum to either leave the European Union of nations or remain part of the network. The conventional wisdom was that England would never vote to leave, yet that's exactly what happened yesterday, sending shockwaves around the world as the pound sterling decreased in value overnight, and markets responded to the new uncertainty by falling around the globe.

Perhaps the most disturbing part of the Brexit were those who admitted on the news that they though their "protest votes" to leave wouldn't matter, that London would vote to remain and that would save the empire - or something like that. In effect, the voters sounded ignorant and regretful that their votes mattered.

Brexit is a cautionary tale for the world - elections have consequences.

Trump Dump: "Who's Doing the Raping?" Latinos of course!

Donald is the Energizer Bunny of Bigotry, and keeps going and going and going. Or maybe he's more like a broken record, or a squeaky windmill, or a repetitious dog whistle. He just cannot back down on remarks he made last week accusing nearly all Mexican Immigrants of being criminals and rapists. On the contrary, he is doubling down. In his mind, he is absolutely correct and therefore cannot see why he should back down, especially when he is appealing to so many Tea Partiers who feel the same way.

Please proceed, Mr. Trump.

On Wednesday, Trump, who is a Republican presidential candidate, told Lemon he was pulling his facts from a Fusion article.
. . . "If you go to Fusion, you will see a story: About 80% of the women coming in, you know who owns Fusion? Univision! Go to Fusion and pick up the stories on rape. It's unbelievable when you look at what's going on. So all I'm doing is telling the truth," Trump said.
Lemon replied that the press stories are about women being raped, but not about criminals coming across the border.
"Well, somebody's doing the raping, Don! I mean somebody's doing it! Who's doing the raping? Who's doing the raping?" he asked.



Jon Stewart mocked him on Comedy Central:

...Our good friend Donald Trump reminding us that as much as a "handful of people" coming across our southern border are not rapists. He assumes. He’s sure about the rapist part. But feels that, I guess, by pure law of averages, there are probably some non rapists caught up in that tide, whether they’re unable to rape for medical reasons, or whether they are just all raped out.
As you can imagine, this statement from a Republican Presidential Candidate was noticed.
I believe we have our campaign slogan, Trump 2016: "Somebody's doing the raping!"

Meanwhile, even more business associates are dumping the Donald:

NASCAR joins a growing list of companies who have found Trump’s recent statements on Mexican immigrants offensive enough to cut ties with the mogul.
According to USA Today, this came after the urging of Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis, who sent a letter to NASCAR stating that he would not attend the Camping World Truck Series postseason banquet at the usual Trump resort. An excerpt from the letter quoted in USA Today reads:
Our company will not stand to support any person or organization that associates with such beliefs and we feel strongly about distancing ourselves from any negative and discriminatory comments made against any gender, ethnicity, age group or so forth. I would hope that the entire NASCAR organization would agree with my sentiments.
Camping World is the title sponsor of NASCAR’s truck racing series, and Lemonis himself even appeared on two episodes of Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice television show.

Media Obsession with Obama's Golf Game

The media is obsessed with the fact that President Obama, like many of his presidential predecessors, is able to take vacations and (horrors) play golf whenever he feels like it. Because, you know, Obama can't possibly golf and THINK at the same time. Or maybe the press can't watch golf and think at the same time. Today they criticized him for taking a hike, because walking and thinking don't go hand in hand either. I think Henry David Thoreau and Gandhi might disagree with them. Surely Martin Luther King and every person who marched for Civil Rights would disagree that physical activity rules out thinking or pondering.

Anyway, it's all about "Optics" because there are BIG things going on in the world, and Obama should be solving them all NOW. How dare the President try to relax so he can deal with them when the time comes. How dare he recharge his batteries like every other President before him. Funny that no one cared when the Elder Bush was watching "Curly Sue" in the theater at the White House, or relaxing at the family compound in Kennebunkport, Maine. Funny they never said this when President W. Bush was down in Texas at the BBQ ranch or choking on Fritos and then falling asleep on the couch in front of football at the White House. How many hours of sleep did W. need a night? Something like 14?

But the Optics of Golf meme is way to fire up the right-wing, or white-wing, readers, so some media outlets keep tweeting and reporting on what the black President is doing up in (usually white) Martha's Vineyard. And after the reporters tweet about golf, the trolls jump on the bandwagon.

Obama Baffles Media by Ordering Congress to Vote on Syria

He's calling Congress's bluff - 'You want in on this? Fine.' And I can tell you the House vote on this is going to be tricky. There's going to be splits in both parties.

It puts him in a very tough spot. And they aren't going to take it up right away. Congress is coming back September 9, that's when they take it up. It's unclear what happens if he doesn't get the vote. Presumably he might still go ahead with the strike.

. . . the president has really rolled the dice right now. So there's not going to be any imminent U.S. strike until Congress comes back. It doesn't look like they're coming back before September 9th, so military action not going to take place this weekend or next week unless Congress comes back early. No indication, as I said, they will. But this is a major decision by the president. He is rolling the dice that the house and the Senate will support him. If the Senate does and the house doesn't, he didn't say what he would do.

. . . we are waiting for Congress to come back on September 9th. And I kept wondering during the coverage as I thought, you know, we would not have this extended coverage quite frankly this evening. After I heard the president, I said well there goes the news. It's two weeks, at least, before anything would happen until Congress meets.
. . . There was -- some people are concern because right after this, the president and John Kerry went to play golf right after his announcement. That's not great optics, is it?
. . . listen, I'm not saying that the president doesn't deserve to but the optics are very important. George Bush was criticized a lot for optics.
