Mike Huckabee - #UncleSugar and the Feminine Libido

 photo b88030c5-7fdc-41b7-9808-15f88838a283.jpg

Ex-Gov of Arkansas, sometimes Preacher, and Tea Party Conservative Mike Huckabee really stepped in some deep Man-ure on Thursday when he decided to talk about Ladyparts and Birth Control. You just have to read it to believe it. If this attack on women is rebranding, then the GOP deserves all the Fail it can get. And for delighted Democrats on Twitter, it was a day to give Huckabee a new nickname - "Uncle Sugar."

From Washington Post
I think it’s time Republicans no longer accept listening to the Democrats talk about a 'war on women,'" Huckabee said during a speech at the Republican National Committee's winter meeting in Washington. "The fact is the Republicans don’t have a war on women, they have a war for women, to empower them to be something other than victims of their gender.”

Huckabee said Democrats rely on women believing they are weaker than men and in need of government handouts, including the contraception mandate in Obamacare.

"If the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it," Huckabee said. "Let's take that discussion all across America."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Memo to former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and the bosses at for-profit corporations who think they belong in every doctor’s office and that they should be able to decide whether their employees have access to birth control: Women who use birth control do not have an “overactive libido.” We are not looking for a handout from “Uncle Sugar” to score a contraceptive fix. We are not sluts. This is not the reality for women — it never has been and never will be.
~ Birth Control Activist Sandra Fluke, who was called a "slut" by Rush Limbaugh in 2012
To be honest, I have no idea what he's talking about.
. . . You open your medicine cabinet, or your woman does, and there's this little guy from Arkansas. And he's talking to you about your prescription. And you go how did you get in my medicine cabinet? Or, what are you doing in my bedroom? (laughs)
(later in the show show). . . I recall a basic, too-often ignored fact of politics: there are more women voters then there are male voters. And given that, what is it in the Republican DNA that makes them talk as if they've never talked with women? They talk as if they are the party of cave dwellers who come out of their habitats every four years to grunt something so retro, so awkward, so Cro-Magnon as this.
. . . Didn't Mike get the Memo? Didn't he learn anything from Akin and Murdoch, the rape-rappers, to avoid getting too up-close and personal with the boy/girl front? That when some out-of-it Republican starts talking about the birds and the bees they start sounding like what John McCain refers to Cruz as - a "Wacko Bird."
~ Chris Matthews on Hardball
He was trying to make the point that the Party needs to fight this idea that the Party is in a war on women. And it's the Democrats who have sort of manufactured this war.
. . . Going into this election cycle we need to talk about something other than what the Democrats want us to talk about.
~ Michael Steele, ex-head of RNC and spokesperson for House Speaker John Boehner, on Hardball
Why does he want to talk about our libidos in the first place, really?
. . . It's the very definition of looking at us as sex objects.
~ Salon pundit Joan Walsh on Hardball
I think Governor Huckabee would probably phrase it differently. Mike speaks off the cuff, as some of us are known to do, and probably would [have] chose different words to communicate that.
. . . In fact, Republicans have been tremendous in supporting equality of women, in the workplace and other places. We happen to disagree on reproductive rights and abortion. But on the issue of contraception, I don’t think there’s a whole lot of disagreement in America.
~ Rick Santorum defending Mike Huckabee
. . . whoever said it, it sounds offensive to me, and to women.
~ White House Press Secretary Jay Carney
The fact that Huckabee doesn’t understand what birth control actually does is the perfect illustration of why decisions about women’s health should be left between a woman and her doctor — not politicians.
~ Planned Parenthood
Here we go again. What galaxy do these right-wing men live in? So now contraception is like welfare? I’m reading him right, right? This is what he said—in essence, that birth control, provided by people who think women can’t control their libidos, makes women “helpless.” It’s the culture of dependency again, but this time transferred from the ghetto to the uterus. The Democrats, I guess, want women to go out and have unrestrained sex, so Democrats can then go out and destroy America by distributing these sinful contraceptive devices. So women, you see, are not human beings with agency and volition about their sexuality in Huckabee Land. They’re nothing more than the cat’s paws of the godless, baby-killing Democrats, who want to keep them on the Democratic plantation. The Pill, the welfare check, the Earned Income Tax Credit—all the work of Satan, propagated by the party of Satan.
~ Michael Tomasky on Daily Beast
Don't be a victim of your gender, ladies! By which I think Huck means: Don't be slaves to your uteri! Stop all this fornicating and reproducicating. Actually, wait, don't stop reproducicating. Keep punching out the babies on every rare occasion that you have contraception-free manseed-receiving missionary sex with that special God-chosen mate, who can worship you for all that you are, as you nurse and baby-bounce and clean up the messes. You feel that? That's you living up to your potential. Screw Uncle Sugar and his nectary socialism! All you need for self-actualization are Cousin Gospel, Nephew Bassinet, and Grandpa Bathtub Gin. Vote Republican!
Rush Limbaugh as The Accidental Sexist (Yeah, Right)
 photo RushBust.jpg
From Rush Limbaugh's Website
RUSH: Do you know the stories about the things that this mayor in San Diego's been doing? I mean, it is jaw dropping. This is a Democrat mayor, the things that he has been doing to women for years is just jaw dropping, and there hasn't been any coverage of it. I mean, there's starting to be some now, but while it was going on, there was none. And when you read these stories, it is a textbook case of discrimination and abuse by a guy, a man with more power than the women who work near him, for him, with him. If you're gonna start teaching things in women's studies classes, this would be something to teach. I mean, this is textbook how this guy has behaved, how he's on getting away with it, as a Democrat.
I mean, the feminazis could use this to raise all kinds of awareness and money for another decade but they're not because he's a Democrat. So everybody's trying to sweep it under the -- this guy coulda probably called 'em sluts and nothing woulda happened to him. Ahem. We have 30 seconds to decide whether we want to let that go or cancel that out. We're gonna let that one go. Staff approves of that one, fine and dandy, it's there.
. . . This is what the feminazis have been teaching against forever, and they ignore it, because the guy is a good Democrat. And above all else, the party and the movement must be saved. In fact, more than saved. Not even harmed.
And you compare that to the just out of control, nonsensical reaction to a word that was accidentally used and apologized for, and I tell you, it is stunning. Where are those same exact people on this genuinely abhorrent set of abuses by this mayor? It's liberal hypocrisy and essentially liberal hypocrisy's not possible. Liberals are not hypocrites so it doesn't get talked about, doesn't get reported on.
How Many Times Did He Say That? Seventy Times???
I can comment on the fact that all good folks can agree that the remarks that were made don’t have any place in the public discourse. And you know, the reason I called Ms. Fluke is because I thought about my daughters, and one of the things I want them to do as they get older is to engage in issues they care about, even ones I may not agree with them on. I want them to be able to speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way… I do not want them attacked or called horrible names because they are being good citizens, and I wanted Sandra to know that I thought her parents should be proud of her, and that we want to send a message to all of our young people that being part of a democracy involves argument and disagreements and debate, and we want you to be engaged, and there’s a way to do it that doesn’t involve you being demeaned and insulted, particularly when you are a private citizen.
~ President Obama on Limbaugh's Slut Shaming of Sandra Fluke
Wingnuts Get Nasty When Fluke Nominated for Time Person of the Year
Photobucket
Dennis Miller on Bill O'Reilly, asking whether Sandra Fluke should be Time Magazine "Person of the Year"
"I think she's perfectly emblematic of the modern woman. And it's sad to say, but single women, that's what's been yielded out by the women's movement. I didn't see that coming. But it would appear helplessness, perpetually being caught in the stasis of a 1968 Virginia Slims ad in a magazine. She's Moan of Arc, that's the way most women went in this election. I think she'll only accept the cover if they agree to comp her subscription. It seems that she's in that business. And you know something? If this is the way that gals want to go, like I said, Billy, I got my pod face on. I'm happy for the women. You are women, hear me snore. Everybody makes their pick. I think she'd be a perfect Time magazine Person of the Year. Nobody no more represents current day America to me than Sandra Fluke."
So you got JFK with Person of the Year with Time, you've got Gandhi, and maybe now—Sandra Fluke.
~ Megyn Kelly on Fox News
(Fluke is) a Poster Child For The Santa Claus Presidency And The Food Stamp President.
Kennedy said, 'Ask not what your country can do for you,' and now we've got Sandra Fluke saying, 'My country can buy me birth control for three years of law school at Georgetown.'
~ Lars Larson on Fox News
TIME Magazine has nominated Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown law student who demanded you pay for her $10 a month birth control pills, as person of the year. This will put her up there with Adolf Hitler and Yasser Arafat.
~ Jim Hoft on The Gateway Pundit
Fluke, of course, is the condom rights advocate turned Georgetown Law School martyr who testified before Congress about the hardships encountered by young female law school students who couldn’t afford to pay for their own birth control pills. Rush Limbaugh ripped her, prompting faux outcry from the left, all the way up to President Obama, who seized on the incident as proof that the right was waging some sort of war on women, as opposed to a battle against pathetic dependency on government. Obama called her personally, then used her as a campaign surrogate.
Leave it to Time to make her its Person of the Year. Of course, in the year of the dependent American voter, they might be right.
~ Ben Shapiro on Breitbart
And this is why the Republicans lost the female vote by a double-digit margin.
~ comment by Brumanuensis on Media Matters
Dennis Miller no longer tells jokes, he's become one. Going on teevee and spouting misogynistic crap isn't going do much to resuscitate his dead career. Keep talkin', loser.
Pee Wee's Playhouse was much more mature. Moan of Arc..get it Globey..heh heh
Congressional Black Caucus ~
Including Emanuel Cleaver who goes off-script in a fiery speech
"Now I greatly respect my Republican colleagues and their ideas. But make no mistake: I am proud to be a Democrat. I am proud to be a member of this great party," he said. "And we have, in many instances, been hit: 'They are liberal, they are progressive.'
"Look, if being liberal and progressive means that I care for children and whether they go hungry, color me! Color me a Democrat!" exhorted Cleaver in one of many deviations from his prepared remarks. "If being a Democrat means I'm concerned about our seniors in the sunset of their life, color me Democrat! Color me liberal! After all, we are the ones who protected Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, who fought for fair wages and who ended 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell.' We are Democrats! And don't you ever forget it!"
~ Emanuel Cleaver
Let me erase some confusion. Let me tell you something. There are people who poke fun at us Democrats. They say we go to far with this inclusion stuff. They say that we have a caucus for tall people and caucus for short people and a caucus for people who don't fit into any other caucus.
But let me just tell you - God did not burden the United States with the diversity of backgrounds, ideas and religions. He BLESSED America with them!
~ Emanuel Cleaver
Monica Crowley Becomes a Bigoted Internet Meme (Now With Updates)
monicacrowley
~ Original remarks and apology from Fox News Anchor Monica Crowley on Twitter
“What really bothers me about is the blatant homophobia in the statement.”
~ Sandra Fluke on MSNBC's The Ed Show
Comedian Monica Crowley is almost as funny as Comedian Ted Nugent.
~ Secular Humanist on Twitter
What do you get when you cross Monica Crowley with anything? A homophobic bigot
~ Ziggy Daddy on Twitter #CrowleyJokes
What do you call a situation when a FoxNews anchor actually apologizes for being a homophobic hack? A Fluke. ~ John Saveland on Twitter #CrowleyJokes
Knock, knock. Who's there? Interrupting hack pundit. Interrup- LESBIANS!!!!!!! hahhahahahaa
~ Sonja Blair on Twitter #CrowleyJokes
Monica Crowley heard the fish in the Ohio River are trying to spawn. She asked, "Why, are they gay?
~ Joel A. L. Thomas on Twitter #CrowleyJokes
All I gather from the original #crowleyjokes joke is that, like Rush, she has some fundamental confusion about how babies are made.
~ Greg J. Krieg, ABC News Reporter on Twitter #Crowley Jokes
I get it! Sandra Fluke has short hair and wore a suit in court — a pants suit, no less — and we all know what that means. It means Crowley watched an episode of Ellen once fifteen years ago and well, you know what they say about first impressions.
~ Stephanie Georgopulos on Thought Catalog: When Lesbian Jokes Go Wrong
Monica Crowley dusted off an antique third grade bully joke and Tweeted "To a man?" because get it? Since she doesn't have long blonde Fox News hair and blindingly white beauty queen teeth, Sandra Fluke must be a lesbian! After people began remarking that Crowley's shi++y joke was shi++y, she added fuel to the fire, tweeting, "I love to expose the Left's total lack of a sense of humor." And that's how today's justified internet pile-on was born.
~ Erin Gloria Ryan on Jezebel
UPDATES!
Why would Crowley make that comment? Because Beelzebub needs cheerleaders too.
Regret my tweeted question caused a stir.” Translated: “Golly! What’s happening in ‘Merikkka? A hateful b*tch like me can’t be vicious to a lesbo any longer.”
