GOP Desperately Seeking a Speaker

The Democrats in Congress held a "sit-in" protest last week on the literal floor of the House of Representatives after Speaker Paul Ryan refused to allow a vote on gun control after the horrendous Orlando shooting. What they wanted was a way to keep terrorists on the no-fly list from buying assault weapons - something that seems like a no-brainer to a majority of Americans.

But Speaker Ryan called the protest a "publicity stunt" - never mind that he is the king of the Fake Charity Publicity Stunt, or that his own party has wasted time with Tea Party Shutdown and the silly Ted Cruz filibuster of Obamacare.

No, this protest was the real deal. When Paul Ryan attempted to shut it down by turning off the C-Span cameras, the Dems started filming the proceedings with their own phones and broadcasting to the world with the Periscope app. Almost immediately, C-Span picked up the Periscope feed and used it instead of the regular camera feed from Congress, completely bypassing Paul Ryan and making history.

While the sit-in ended with no legislation, the protest gave hope to the families of victims that eventually the logjam caused by threats from the NRA towards GOP politicians will fail.

From Reuters
“Eventually this problem will get addressed again one of two ways: We find a breakthrough, which I will seek, or there will be another terrorist attack which will bring us right back to this issue. I hope we can do it without another terrorist attack,” said Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican who supported Collins.
A few hours earlier, Democratic lawmakers ended a sit-in protest in the House of Representatives over guns.
Fueled by Chinese food and pizzas, dozens of them stayed on the House floor all night, at times bursting into the civil rights anthem "We Shall Overcome" before giving up their protest after 25 hours.
"It's not a struggle that lasts for one day, or one week, or one month, or one year," said Representative John Lewis, a Democrat from Georgia and a key figure in the civil rights protests of the 1960s. "We're going to win the struggle," said Lewis, who led the House sit-in.

Orlando Shooting Deadliest in History

 photo gunshine state.jpg

Again, we face unspeakable evil in Orlando - two senseless shootings just miles from each other in a city known as a playground for the world. And our useless elected officials want to pray and have "moments of silence" with no action.

The Lord helps those who help themselves. We need action now. #NotOneMore

From New York Times
As officials offered new details about the worst mass shooting in American history, which left 49 people dead and 53 wounded, Chief John Mina of the Orlando Police Department said that the gunman, Omar Mateen, 29, told police negotiators — falsely, they later discovered — that he had explosives and accomplices at Pulse nightclub.
Mr. Mateen eventually made comments persuading them that “there would be an imminent loss of life,” Chief Mina said, prompting the chief to end a three-hour standoff and order the assault that killed Mr. Mateen and freed dozens of people trapped in the club.
...Investigators were hunting for any indication that Mr. Mateen might have had help in planning or carrying out the slaughter, and they continued combing through the battered, blood-spattered wreckage of Pulse for clues.
“So far, we see no indication that this was part of a plot directed from outside the United States,” Mr. Comey said.

From CNN
Orlando, Florida (CNN)Florida authorities answered one of the major questions in the shooting death of Christina Grimmie, the 22-year-old singer who made her name on NBC's "The Voice."
The man who killed her was Kevin James Loibl, 27, of St. Petersburg, Florida, according to Orlando police.
. . . Grimmie was signing autographs late Friday after a show at The Plaza Live theater when a man approached and opened fire, police spokeswoman Wanda Miglio said.
She was rushed to a hospital, where she died.

The Isla Vista Shooting ~ Misogyny and Gun Lust (Just Like GOP)

 photo rodger.jpg

The Isla Vista, California, shooting was shocking not just for the senseless killing of six young people, but for the chilling motive of the equally young murderer, Elliot Rodger. In his "Manifesto," Rodger explains his vendetta against all the women who ever ignored or rejected him, as well as his anger at his three "irritating" roommates, all Asians, whom he stabbed to death. Rodger's egomania and Narcissism is evident in both his videos and his writing, and his hatred of women is creepy and maniacal.

It would be easy to just label him a mentally-ill Sociopath like many of the other shooters and just move along. But Elliot Rodger's attitudes are all-too-familiar for anyone who has followed politics since 2008. He basically shares many of the same values of the macho NRA and GOP: the #BundyRanch NRA neanderthals who gladly used women and children as human shields; the #OpenCarry movement that is pushing "Guns Everywhere" bills and invading meetings by the group Moms Demand Action; as well as the #TeaParty of Paul Ryan and Bob McDonnell who want to probe pregnant women with 9-inch wands and force them to have babies with rapists.

Heck, if Rodger hadn't burned out early, he could have been their next leader!

From New Republic
It’s time to call misogynist extremism by its name.
On Friday night, a young man went on a massacre in Santa Barbara that left six other people dead and seven injured. In the hours before the massacre, the suspect, 22-year-old Elliot Rodger, had uploaded a video to YouTube titled “Retribution.” In this, and in a 140-page manifesto published online, Rodger claimed that he was going to prove himself the ultimate “alpha male” and take revenge on all the “sluts” who had sexually rejected him:
"Tomorrow is the day of retribution, the day in which I will have my revenge ... you girls aren't attracted to me, but I will punish you all for it. I’ll take great pleasure in slaughtering all of you. You will finally see that I am in truth the superior one, the true alpha male.”

Transcript of Elliot Rodger's Last Video via San Jose Mercury News
You girls have never been attracted to me. I don't know why you girls aren't attracted to me, but I will punish you all for it. It's an injustice, a crime, because ... I don't know what you don't see in me. I'm the perfect guy and yet you throw yourselves at these obnoxious men instead of me, the supreme gentleman.

I will punish all of you for it. (laughs) On the day of retribution I'm going to enter the hottest sorority house of UCSB. And I will slaughter every spoiled, stuck-up, blond slut I see inside there. All those girls I've desired so much, they would have all rejected me and looked down upon me as an inferior man if I ever made a sexual advance towards them (scoffs) while they throw themselves at these obnoxious brutes. I'll take great pleasure in slaughtering all of you.

You will finally see that I am in truth the superior one. The true alpha male. (laughs) Yes. After I've annihilated every single girl in the sorority house, I will take to the streets of Isla Vista and slay every single person I see there. All those popular kids who live such lives of hedonistic pleasures while I've had to rot in loneliness for all these years. They've all looked down upon me every time I tried to go out and join them, they've all treated me like a mouse.

. . . You've forced me to suffer all my life and now I'll force you all to suffer. I've waited a long time for this. I'll give you exactly what you deserve. All of you. All you girls who rejected me and looked down upon me and you know, treated me like scum while you gave yourselves to other men. And all of you men, for living a better life than me, all of you sexually active men, I hate you. I hate all of you. I can't wait to give you exactly what you deserve Utter annihilation. (laughs).

Joe the Plumber

Samuel "Joe The Plumber" Wurzelbacher Open Letter to Parents of Isla Vista Victims
I’m not talking here about the three tragic murders Rodger committed by stabbing before his driving and shooting spree; I speak now only to the families of the gunshot victims in Santa Barbara:
It’s a tragedy.
I am sorry you lost your child. I myself have a son and daughter and the one thing I never want to go through, is what you are going through now. But:

As harsh as this sounds – your dead kids don’t trump my Constitutional rights.

Richard Martinez, whose son (Christopher) was among the murdered, choked back tears at a news conference, blaming politicians the next day: “The talk about gun rights. What about Chris’ right to live?” Martinez said – and much more.
There are no critical words for a grieving father. He can say whatever he wants and blame whoever he’d like – it’s okay by me. You can’t take a step in his shoes – at least I can’t.

But the words and images of Mr. Martinez blaming “the proliferation of guns”, lobbyists, politicians, etc.; will be exploited by gun-grab extremists as are all tragedies involving gun violence and the mentally ill by the anti-Second Amendment Left.

Ted Nugent is Revolting

Draft-Dodger, Gun Nut and Rocker Ted Nugent, calling for armed Revolution against President Obama
I’m part of a very great experiment in self-government where we the people determine our own pursuit of happiness and our own individual freedom and liberty, not to be confused with the Barack Obama gang who believes in we the sheeple and actually is attempting to re-implement the tyranny of King George that we escaped from in 1776.

If you want another Concord Bridge, I got some buddies.

Here is what's wrong with America today. We have a president, and everybody better write this down, and memorize this. The president of the United States goes to the Vietnam Memorial Wall and pretends to honor 58,000 American heroes who died fighting communism and then he hires, appoints and associates with communists. He pretends to pay honor to men who died fighting communism, and then he hangs out with, hires and appoints communists.

He is an evil dangerous man who hates America and hates freedom. And we need to fix this as soon as possible.

None of those wild animals he's so proud of shooting with high powered rifles were shooting back. The American military has 'real' assault rifles and machine guns, not to mention attack helicopters, etc... The right wing cowards wouldn't stand a chance.
~ Dennis W. on Alan Colmes Liberaland

Do we have to go over this again? Nugent and his buddies would be utterly wiped out. Full stop. Actually, they might as well be threatening to ride velociraptors into the White House, armed with magic wands and accompanied by Space Monkey Gleek. It’s just that ridiculous. The whole notion of an armed revolt and secession from the United States failed miserably in 1865, and the revolutionaries at that time were headed by skilled West Point commanders like JEB Stuart and Robert E. Lee who directed massive armies. These gun nutjobs today have — who? — octogenarian D-list electric guitar player Ted Nugent and a gaggle of his redneck disciples. Good luck, boys.
~ Bob Cesca on The Daily Banter

Ted Nugent is making a threat to the President and no one is talking about it because they continue to undervalue the life of a Black person. This man would be made an example of and lock in jail if the President was white. He would be afraid to make such threats if that was the case. So he feels as though no one will do anything to him. He can rile up as many crazies as he wants and not be punish for it. This man along with Donald Trump and Shawn Hannity is the face of racism.

The Nuge's politics are just like his music. He only knows one song, and he'll play it at max volume every time he gets a chance.

I hate that word, 'sheeple'. Right up there with 'blood and treasure', 'redonculous', 'bromance', and 'Nugent said'.

The "buddies" remark suggests conspiracy. Maybe time for another visit by the Secret Service?
~ theneb on Media Matters

Ted's ego has just gotten so big that he thinks his authority overrides that of the President just because by his own insane standards Ted is a "real" American and Obama somehow isn't.
