Benghazi Bust Turns Right-Wing Theories to Dust

 photo 552701b3-f8bc-41d5-9480-bff16135f8b3.jpg

Hooray for the Obama Administration! Not only did they vanquish Osama bin Laden, now they have captured the ring-leader of the Benghazi attacks! And guess what? The suspect is saying that the whole thing went down exactly as Susan Rice said in the original CIA/Petraeus talking points - he attacked the American consulate at Benghazi because of a video he had watched that was inflaming the entire Middle East at the time, a video made in the U.S. by Egyptian Coptic Christians and funded by Jewish donors making fun of the Prophet Mohammed.

So all the Right-Wing gnashing of teeth and screaming "Benghazzzzzzzzzziii" as a battle cry should be over. But wait - last night Hillary Clinton was grilled about Benghazi on Fox News, and there are now questions from the nutjobs about how "convenient" the story is from the suspect, and is he real, or merely a false-flag actor created by the evil Obama to boost Hillary and make the GOP look f***ing bonkers?

Well, they don't need that much help from Obama or Hillary to sound bonkers. So expect more outrageous and entertaining reactions from the far-right fringe, but the real story of Benghazi is pretty much over for the rest of the world, thanks to President Obama.

But never forget the strange byzantine history of Benghazi:

From Washington Post:
One of the suspected ringleaders of the 2012 terrorist attacks in Benghazi that killed four Americans, Abu Khattala is the first of the alleged perpetrators to be apprehended. He now awaits a transfer to the United States and a federal trial in the District.
U.S. officials said the joint Special Operations and FBI mission had been planned for months and was approved by President Obama on Friday. The Pentagon said that there were no civilian or other casualties and that all involved U.S. personnel had safely left Libya.
The administration provided few details about the operation itself, where Abu Khattala is being held or the timing of his first appearance in court. After news of the capture became public Tuesday morning, Obama, on a visit to Pennsylvania, said Abu Khattala “is now being transported back to the United States.” Administration officials said they expected him to appear in court here within days.

From New York Times
On the day of the attack, Islamists in Cairo had staged a demonstration outside the United States Embassy there to protest an American-made online video mocking Islam, and the protest culminated in a breach of the embassy’s walls — images that flashed through news coverage around the Arab world.
As the attack in Benghazi was unfolding a few hours later, Mr. Abu Khattala told fellow Islamist fighters and others that the assault was retaliation for the same insulting video, according to people who heard him.

CPAC Day One ~ Rat Heads in a Coke Bottle - Updated

 photo CPAC1.jpg
source: Last Word

CPAC = Conservative Political Action Committee

What's the Latin for "Let the Circus Begin?"
~ Joy Reid on MSNBC

CPAC sometimes feels like the Grammy Awards of movement conservatism. And if that’s the case, then Gohmert is Willie Nelson — accented and outspoken. And faced with hordes of fans, he’s enamoring. It’s not just a CPAC thing — his staffers tell me that they’re always juggling media invites — but here, Gohmert might as well be Elvis. Nobody doesn’t want a piece of Louie.
~ Betsy Woodruff on National Review

One of the things that we’ve heard over and over again since Vietnam is, you know, we don’t want to get in another un-winnable war like Vietnam. I’m not going to debate the merits of whether we should or should not have gone to Vietnam, but what I will tell you is, Vietnam was winnable, but people in Washington decided we would not win it!

. . . “When our embassy was attacked, it was an act of war in 1979. Nobody really wanted to go, but we had been attacked. We expected the United States to respond.
And I still believe today, we have Americans dying for our country because we did not send a message in 1979.
~ Representative Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, during a seminar entitled "Too Many Wars?"

Like any good conservative event, CPAC 2013 kicked off with a WAR PANEL featuring Rep. Louie Gohmert, noted WAR ENTHUSIAST. To the highlights:
  • Louie Gohmert describes seeing a dude wearing glasses. Says the guy looked “somewhat liberal” thanks to the specs. That’s right, corrected vision isn’t for freedom-lovers! See things with your all-American beer belly, not with your eyes!
  • Gohmert condemns the United States for withdrawing from Vietnam, because we totally could have won that war: “Vietnam was winnable, but people in Washington decided we would not win it.”
  • Speaking about the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan: “I know they’re Muslims, but they’re our friends.” Rebranding at work!

I’m speaking from experience when I tell you that there is nothing on this green earth that a liberal progressive fears more than a black American who wants a better life and a smaller government.
. . . I’m a conservative because I understand that real peace comes from the Marine Corps, not the Peace Corps.
~ Ex-Congressman from Florida, Allen West

West ran through a litany of obstacles over which this nation has triumphed, including the American Revolution, the Civil War, the Great Depression, the battle against Nazism in World War II ... and the presidency of Barack Obama, declaring that just as this nation overcame these previous threats, "when Barack Obama packs his bags and beats a hasty retreat back to Chicago, we will persevere."
~ Right Wing Watch

We need a Republican Party that shows up on the Southside of Chicago and shouts at the top of our lungs 'We are the party of jobs and opportunity. The GOP is the ticket to the middle class.' The GOP of old has grown stale and moss-covered. I don't think we need to name any names here, do we?
~ Senator Rand Paul, R-Kentucky

Don’t drone me, bro!
~ A Rand Paul Fan at CPAC

This president's posture, it'd be laughable if he hadn't taken it one step too far, dangerously releasing criminals onto our streets to make a political point. When you have a federally-sponsored jailbreak -- and don't get confused, that's exactly what that is -- when you've had a federally-sponsored jailbreak, you've crossed the line from politics of spin to politics as a craven form of cynicism.
~ Governor Rick Perry of Texas

“If we are going to stop the tide of secular socialism we need more allies!” Ayres said. “We need a lot more allies in a lot of different places! Don’t you think that a group of incredibly family oriented, hardworking, churchgoing, entrepreneurial, spiritual people might be a good place to look for some more allies?”
“Legally!” one heckler interrupted. Ayres ignored him.
“People can wring their hands about it, they can complain about it, they can have angst about it, but the one thing they can’t do is change it,” Ayres said. “That is the America that is coming.”
~ Whit Ayres, Republican Pollster, begging the GOP to accept Immigration Reform

And so you can buy a bottle of Coke, take it home, you don’t have to ask what’s in it, or read the ingredients, or ask your friends about. You just take it home, you drink it. If you get two-thirds the way through your bottle of Coke and you look in and there is a rat head in what’s left in your Coke bottle, you do not say to yourself, 'You know, I'm wondering whether I'm going to finish all of the rest of this particular bottle of Coke this evening.'
You begin to wonder whether you'll buy Coke in the future, you go on local TV and you show the cool rat head. Coca-Cola has a very large problem worldwide. It damages the brand. Republican elected officials who vote for tax increases are rat heads in the Coke bottle. They damage the brand for everybody else.
~ Lobbyist Grover Norquist warning his "friends" in Congress about raising taxes

Now in order to work together with people that you disagree with, there has to be mutual respect. That means I respect people that disagree with me on certain things, but they have to respect me too.
Just because I believe that states should have the right to define marriage in a traditional way does not make me a bigot.
Just because we believe life, all life — all human life is worthy of protection at every stage in its development does not make you a chauvinist.
In fact, the people that are really closed minded in American politics are the people that love to preach about the certainty of science in regard to our climate, but ignore the absolute fact that science has proven that life begins at conception.
~ Senator Marco Rubio, R-Florida

Before he ended, Rubio got in a (third) reference to the famous “water drinking moment” from his rebuttal to the State of the Union. “I’ll tell you what the criticism from the left [of the speech] is going to be. Number one: ‘That he drank too much water.’ Number two: ‘That he didn’t offer up new ideas.’ We don’t need new ideas. The idea is called America, and it still works.”
~ Jillian Rayfield on Salon

I'm trying to understand how come there's no black people here. I'm trying to figure out why the outreach of the GOP and especially CPAC is not working with black citizens and I have yet to find an answer, only I get, all I've gotten is abrasive attitudes and people yelling because I guess I ask the tough question, just ask the simple question, where's the inclusion? Where are the black people? I don't know why that is so offensive?
~ Greg Thrasher, Director of Think Tank Plane Ideas, escorted out of CPAC after getting into an argument

Jeff Dunetz, aka YidWithLid, is one of the most disgusting creatures in the Breitbart Clan.
. . . Dunetz can be heard off-camera yelling at Greg Thrasher, an African American man asking attendees why there aren’t more African Americans at CPAC. Apparently, in wingnut world that’s an arresting offense.
~ Osbornik

Turn the Cameras OFF! Turn the Cameras OFF!

Allen West Will Not Concede in Florida ~ UPDATE Nov. 20th: Concession!

Photobucket

UPDATE: West Concedes, Nov. 20, 2012

While many questions remain unanswered, today I am announcing that I will take no further action to contest the outcome of this election.
. . . While there are certainly still inaccuracies in the results and the actions of the St. Lucie County and Palm Beach County Supervisors of Elections rightly raise questions in my mind and for many voters, after much analysis and (Sunday’s) recount in St. Lucie County, our legal team does not believe there are enough over-counted, under-counted or fraudulent votes to change the outcome of the election.
While a contest of the election results might have changed the vote totals, we do not have evidence that the outcome would change. Given the extremely high evidentiary hurdles involved in a successful challenge, I will not ask my generous supporters to help fund a drawn-out, expensive legal effort with little chance of success. Therefore, we will not contest the certification or challenge the seating of Congressman-Elect Murphy.
. . . I want to congratulate my opponent, Patrick Murphy, as the new Congressman from 18th Congressional District. I pray he will serve his constituents with honor and integrity, and put the interests of our nation before his own
~ Ex-Rep. Allen West in the Palm Beach Post

I appreciate Congressman West’s gracious concession today. I am truly humbled that the voters of the 18th district have entrusted me to represent them in Washington. To those who supported my opponent, my door is open and I want to hear your voice. I campaigned on a message of reaching across the aisle to get things done for the people of the Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches, and that is as important in this district as it is in Washington. I am excited and honored to get to work.
~ Acceptance by Patrick Murphy, newly elected Representative

~~~~~~~~~~
Since Election Day, we have been working for a fair and accurate accounting of the election outcome in which voters can put their full trust. We will review the results of today’s recount and the other available data to determine how to proceed.
~ Failed GOP Congressional Candidate Allen West
Republican Allen West's Democratic opponent Patrick Murphy has declared victory twice and already attended the Freshman orientation meetings on Capitol Hill. But for the last two weeks after the election, former Congressman West still refuses to concede ...
. . . It was announced on Sunday after getting the state or recount the votes in problematic St. Lucie County, West lost by even a wider margin than before. Ironically, Allen West, the man who channeled Joe McCarthy by declaring 80 House Democrats were Communists just can't handle democracy.
~ Ed Schultz on MSNBC
It’s time for Allen West to do the right thing and concede.
~ Eric Johnson, Murphy Campaign Senior Adviser
As usual, Murphy’s people are full of garbage. This is something the secretary of state and governor will have to sort out. ~ Tim Edson, Allen West's Campaign Manager
On the Allen West recount, we have a Republican governor here in Florida, right? His name is Rick Scott, right? I wonder, can Governor Scott do anything about this? It seems like rogue activity in St. Lucie County. Maybe go up there and go to the McDonald's and order some fries and not get any and then call 911, the White House, and just call attention, but there's something up there out of whack.
~ Rush Limbaugh Monday 11-19-2012
In a clear effort to overturn an election result after having lost at the ballot box, Allen West has now run to Governor Rick Scott to needlessly interfere with and politicize a non-partisan election process.
. . . All votes in this election were counted fairly and accurately, and Allen West has lost beyond the mandatory recount range. Having Governor Scott intervene is outrageous and inappropriate. After disenfranchising Florida voters by cutting down early voting days and creating extraordinarily long lines at the polls, Governor Scott is now trying to blatantly overturn an election result he disagreed with and undermine Gertrude Walker, a three-decade veteran of the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections office. Governor Scott needs to remove himself from this process immediately
~ DNC Chairperson Debbie Wasserman Schultz
A REQUEST TO ALL THE ALLEN WEST SUPPORTERS:..I have always know there were many TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOTS that supported Allen West, BUT we had NO IDEA that through out OUR GREAT COUNTRY there were ARMYS of PATRIOTS that have come out over the last 3 weeks to FIGHT for the JUSTICE HE DESERVES.....I want to do a demographic survey. Please post in the comments like this......Jupiter,florida supports Allen West....I think it will be very interesting to ALL of us to see the results!!..Thank you, gary
~ Unofficial Allen West Republic on Facebook
Then there is Gertrude Walker, the 32-year-veteran election supervisor of St. Lucie County, who has spent much of the last two weeks explaining why her office completely botched the count. She admitted that her office had acted in “haste” in issuing election results, and that “mistakes were made.” Among her mistakes was failing to count 40 of the 94 precincts under her jurisdiction on Election Night — and then counting the other 54 twice. Indeed. On Friday, her office announced it had “discovered” 304 additional early votes left in a box. None had been counted.
But Walker wasn’t available for comment. She has been hospitalized for unknown reasons.
~ John Fund, National Review
In seeking to pull a fast one, Walker and her Democrat allies are picking on the wrong guy. Allen West is fearless, and he does not just give up, as far too many establishment Republicans are prone to do. He is fighting this in court, and if he faces reverses there, will continue the battle. The outrgaeousness of this attempted theft is such that it can and will become a cause celebre. We will not forget.
