"Atlas Scrubbed" - Paul Ryan Fakes Charity at Ohio Soup Kitchen

Brian J. Antag, president of the Mahoning County St. Vincent De Paul Society in Youngstown, told the Washington Post that the Romney campaign had not asked to make the Saturday visit to the soup kitchen. He said that he runs an apolitical faith-based organization which has bylaws barring it from hosting political candidates, and that the visit jeopardized donations from private individuals.

"They showed up there and they did not have permission," he said. "They got one of the volunteers to open up the doors." Antag added that Ryan and his family "did nothing" while on the premises.

"He just came in here to get his picture taken at the dining hall," he said.

Actually, it had nothing to do with staging a "reg'lar" guy photo of Rep. Ryan donning an apron and washing dishes.
He was merely trying to find a water source.
I mean, come on. After Thursday night's performance, we know how important hydration is to Ryan.
The apron was a ruse. Workout boy needed to rehydrate.
Minutes after this photo was taken, he was seen tearing off the top of a fire hydrant right outside the building.

Oh, the difficult life of the elected public official and his wife...
A nice salary, top notch healthcare, a generous pension, and perquisites that would make the average person's head spin.
Tell it to the enlisted troops sitting in the scorchingly hot desert of Iraq or the nightmare of Afghanistan (a place you more than likely voted to send them) and the wife at home juggling a job, shuttling the kids around, and doing the work of two parents including the laundry.

Ohio GOP Admits Racist Voting Rules ~ UpDated

He called claims of unfairness by Ohio Democratic Chairman Chris Redfern and others “bullshit. Quote me!”

Find a way. Register. Call in sick. Get help if you need it. Find the time. VOTE! Don't let them steal your rights.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Franklin County GOP Chairman Doug Preisse, a close ally of Governor John Kasich, said his comment — which provoked Democratic outrage — was simply straight talk.

Democrats "are trying to say that I had somehow consciously constrained hours for that purpose," Preisse said. "No, I am saying the opposite, that I am asking the question, and I am indeed questioning how far this process of democratic, small ‘d’, democratic voting process should be contorted to favor a political operation. I don’t think we should go overboard in doing that."

. . . Preisse scoffed at the criticism, telling BuzzFeed of a disputed voting plan put forth by Republican Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, "I believe it should be easy to vote, and I believe that under this plan it is.

"I believe that Republicans and Democrats of good will can have a difference of opinion, an honest difference of opinion here, but I also believe that there is no question that the forces of Obama and the other side of the aisle would love to just throw the barn doors open and have 24-hour voting and just go too far in the other direction," Preisse said. "It seems to me we can have a reasonable discussion about this."

Of Democrats' early voting efforts, he said, "How far should the taxpayers be asked to go to accommodate that political operation? That’s where we’re having a difference of opinion."

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, facing heavy criticism over uneven voting hours that appeared to benefit Republicans, Wednesday ordered all 88 county boards of elections to stay open the same hours this fall.
. . . But while Husted’s order mandates limited extra evening voting hours, it will prevent boards from opening on weekends as many did in the 2008 presidential election, when tens of thousands of Ohio voters cast early in-person absentee ballots.
Husted, a Republican, apparently acted to quell a growing national controversy over disparities in voting hours that seemed destined to give the GOP a significant edge in November. He had been widely attacked since The Enquirer reported 10 days ago that he had cast tie-breaking votes blocking extra voting hours in major urban areas that traditionally favor Democrats even as Republican-leaning counties extended their hours.

Husted, a Republican, scoffed at the “political hysteria” and “partisan controversy” surrounding the differing schedules, saying, “It has been in law and in tradition in Ohio that local Boards of Elections have established their own voting hours.”
