Romney Performs Rich Man's Shrug

It's tough being middle class in America right now. The waiters and waitresses that come in and out of this room and offer us refreshments, they're not having a good year. The people of the middle class of America are really struggling. And they're struggling I think in a way because they're surprised because when they voted for Barack Obama...he promised them that things were going to get a heck a lot of better. He promised hope and change and they're still waiting.

Many of the 300-plus attending were among the wealthiest in the state, and sprinkled among them were some of the state’s powerful political figures, including Gov. Phil Bryant and Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves.
U.S. Reps. Alan Nunnelee and Gregg Harper also were in attendance during Monday night’s event that raised over $1.7 million — with ticket prices set at $2,500, $10,000 or $50,000.

The presidential hopeful charmed the crowd, provoking more than one ovation (they already were all standing).
There were men and women dressed in cocktail attire — sharp suits and black dresses — accompanied by the traditional seersucker suit look that seems to always make its way into any formal Southern event.
One woman showed her enthusiasm by her bright pink outfit.

And once the speeches were made and the last glass of wine put down, the club cleared quickly. Even with the celebratory mood in the room, by the time 7 p.m. hit, the party was over. It was time to go home.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio Arrests 6-Year-Old Girl

Maricopa County Sheriff Office deputies arrested a 6-year-old suspected illegal immigrant Friday, the day President Barack Obama softened the country's deportation policy toward young illegal immigrants.
The girl was with 15 other people believed to be in the country illegally who were traveling to the Midwest and northeast United States, said Chris Hegstrom, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.
"She's been turned over to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to try to determine where she's from. She told us she's from El Salvador. That's what she told us," he said.
. . . Arpaio believes there will be an increase in Mexicans entering the United States illegally after hearing Obama's new policy.
"I suspect that this is politics to get the Hispanic vote," Arpaio said. "It's sad to use the kids as a political tool to get a certain segment of our society's vote."

Regardless of the SB1070 controversy, President Obama’s recent new policy regarding illegal immigration, specifically the ‘Dream Act,’ activists, certain political figures, and the DOJ who has recently taken me to Federal Court, I will continue to enforce all of the immigration laws.

Mitt Romney the Police Impersonator

Madden, a native Texan who graduated from Stanford in 1970 and went on to become a successful television producer and writer, has never forgotten that strange moment, which he has recounted to friends over the years as he observed his former classmate’s political ascent. The National Memo learned of the incident from a longtime Madden friend to whom he had mentioned it years ago.

Said Madden in a recent interview, “He told us that he had gotten the uniform from his father,” George Romney, then the Governor of Michigan, whose security detail was staffed by uniformed troopers. “He told us that he was using it to pull over drivers on the road. He also had a red flashing light that he would attach to the top of his white Rambler.”

In Madden’s recollection, confirmed by his wife Susan, who also attended Stanford during those years, “we thought it was all pretty weird. We all thought, ‘Wow, that’s pretty creepy.’ And after that, we didn’t have much interaction with him,” although both Madden and Romney were prep school boys living in the same dorm, called Rinconada.

Other eyewitnesses have previously recalled Romney’s alleged use of a police or trooper uniform in pranks during his high school years at the exclusive Cranbrook School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Phillip Maxwell, a prep school buddy, told the New Republic in 2008 that Romney had pulled over students from a girls school next door to Cranbrook while wearing a police uniform as a prank. Other former classmates described Mitt as a “happy-go-lucky guy known less for his achievements and more for his pranks.”

In The Real Romney, a biography published by Boston Globe reporters Michael Kranish and Scott Helman this year, another former friend recalled how Romney had “put a siren on top of his car and chased two of his friends who were driving around with their dates.” The two friends were in on the scheme, but the girls were not. There was beer in the car trunk, according to a prearranged plan. Mitt told his two counterparts to get out of their vehicle and into his car. Then they drove off, leaving the girls behind.

Hundreds of thousands of men Mitt Romney ’s age got uniforms in those days the old fashioned way, by being drafted into military service. Mitt Romney avoided that with four consecutive draft deferments that he obtained that allowed him to, like his father before him and his sons after him, avoid combat in the war of his era, the Vietnam War.

Impersonating a police officer was bad enough. He is now hoping to get the chance to impersonate a president. He should learn to do more than just impersonate a human first.
