Ann Coulter Hates Soccer and the Metric System because "Foreign"

From a Column entitled: AMERICA'S FAVORITE NATIONAL PASTIME: HATING SOCCER
June 25, 2014

Any growing interest in soccer can only be a sign of the nation's moral decay.

(1) Individual achievement is not a big factor in soccer. In a real sport, players fumble passes, throw bricks and drop fly balls -- all in front of a crowd. When baseball players strike out, they're standing alone at the plate. But there's also individual glory in home runs, touchdowns and slam-dunks.

In soccer, the blame is dispersed and almost no one scores anyway. There are no heroes, no losers, no accountability, and no child's fragile self-esteem is bruised. There's a reason perpetually alarmed women are called "soccer moms," not "football moms."

Do they even have MVPs in soccer? Everyone just runs up and down the field and, every once in a while, a ball accidentally goes in. That's when we're supposed to go wild. I'm already asleep.

 photo 48e3cbb8-75cf-48f0-9efd-a4bba15a58f9.jpg

(2) Liberal moms like soccer because it's a sport in which athletic talent finds so little expression that girls can play with boys. No serious sport is co-ed, even at the kindergarten level.

. . . (6) I resent the force-fed aspect of soccer. The same people trying to push soccer on Americans are the ones demanding that we love HBO's "Girls," light-rail, Beyonce and Hillary Clinton. The number of New York Times articles claiming soccer is "catching on" is exceeded only by the ones pretending women's basketball is fascinating.

I note that we don't have to be endlessly told how exciting football is.

(7) It's foreign. In fact, that's the precise reason the Times is constantly hectoring Americans to love soccer. One group of sports fans with whom soccer is not "catching on" at all, is African-Americans. They remain distinctly unimpressed by the fact that the French like it.

(8) Soccer is like the metric system, which liberals also adore because it's European. Naturally, the metric system emerged from the French Revolution, during the brief intervals when they weren't committing mass murder by guillotine.

. . . If more "Americans" are watching soccer today, it's only because of the demographic switch effected by Teddy Kennedy's 1965 immigration law. I promise you:

No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer. One can only hope that, in addition to learning English, these new Americans will drop their soccer fetish with time.

. . . according to Ann Coulter the only object of sports is to cause either great physical or psychological harm to those who participate. Ann Coulter has a real, disturbing obsession with wanting people to get hurt in sports. Who hurt you, Ann Coulter? Who hurt you?
. . . The metric system is more rational because it’s based on decimals. Everything happens in powers of 10. It’s a lot easier to know that there’s 1000 meters in 1 kilometer versus 5,280 feet in a mile. This is not arguable. By the way, what does Ann Coulter’s fear of logical measurements have to do with soccer again?

In the midst of the world's World Cup joy, the conservative ripped the sport on her website, writing "any growing interest in soccer can only be a sign of the nation's moral decay."
She probably meant tooth decay, from increased nacho-eating in all those sports bars.

Well, so much for the idea that Americans don't care about soccer.
The U.S. National team made it out of the so-called "group of death" Thursday to advance to the knockout round of competition at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Regardless of how much further the Stars and Stripes advance in the biggest sporting event on the planet, they already have revealed something that even casual observers can see.
Soccer is now woven inextricably into the fabric of American life.
Television viewership numbers continue to set new highs with each U.S. game.

Twitter Punks Ann Coulter After She Mocks Michelle Obama

 photo ccd34612-51ae-4d53-b563-8118188ea456.jpg
Tweeted by Atchka!

On Mother's Day, Michelle Obama gave her weekly address in which she spoke about the 200 Nigerian girls who were kidnapped by the cruel terrorist group Boko Haram. Mashable tweeted a picture from the video of the First Lady holding up a piece of white paper with the twitter hashtag #BringBackOurGirls and it immediately drew fire from the right. Among the many critics of our FLOTUS was the ever-nasty Ann Coulter, right wing polemicist and caustic conservative. She took a photo of herself appearing to pout and holding up a piece of paper which read "#BringBackOurCountry," an echo of the conservative "I want my country back" nonsense started by the Tea Party and Sarah Palin in 2008.

As usual, Coulter's goal was to prove that somehow Conservatives are suffering much more than anyone else, certainly more than some frightened children forced by armed gunmen into child-marriages or God-knows-what in the jungles of Nigeria.

The insensitive Narcissism and Self-Pity in Coulter's tweet rubbed Twitter the wrong way, and her prank boomeranged right back at her through a hilarious twitter meme as people erased her original message and added their own. It couldn't happen to a nastier person. I hope it never ends.

White House Transcript
Like millions of people across the globe, my husband and I are outraged and heartbroken over the kidnapping of more than 200 Nigerian girls from their school dormitory in the middle of the night.
This unconscionable act was committed by a terrorist group determined to keep these girls from getting an education – grown men attempting to snuff out the aspirations of young girls.
And I want you to know that Barack has directed our government to do everything possible to support the Nigerian government’s efforts to find these girls and bring them home.
In these girls, Barack and I see our own daughters. We see their hopes, their dreams – and we can only imagine the anguish their parents are feeling right now.

. . . These girls embody the best hope for the future of our world…and we are committed to standing up for them not just in times of tragedy or crisis, but for the long haul.
We are committed to giving them the opportunities they deserve to fulfill every last bit of their God-given potential.
So today, let us all pray for their safe return... let us hold their families in our hearts during this very difficult time…and let us show just a fraction of their courage in fighting to give every girl on this planet the education that is her birthright. Thank you.

CPAC 2014 ~ Lookit, We Have Crazy Women Speakers, Also Too

One question I've asked several times over the past few days is where are all the women of CPAC? There are only a few showing up in pictures I've seen, and even fewer on the stage. So today should be a relief except that the two women on the docket are Ann Coulter and Sarah Palin, who was actually banned from last year's CPAC, just like Chris Christie. What a difference a year makes! Oh wait . . . it's still the same old #GOP after all.

LA Times: The CPAC Gender Gap
. . . the CPAC mobile app listed 163 speakers and panelists. Men outnumber women by far.
The breakdown: 128 men (78%) vs 35 (21%) women. That’s a 57% gender gap, people. If Republicans have any hope of stopping the Democrats' blockbuster narrative that they are waging a war on women, they must first solve their own war of attrition on women.
. . . Even a writer on the conservative website, Breitbart.com, was brutal: “CPAC could have invited South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley or New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez," wrote Mary Chastain. "These women are not only in a position of power, but they are also minorities. Martinez can reach out to women and the Latino vote, which leans to the left. They did not even bring in Condoleezza Rice … she is respected on both sides of the aisle. CPAC also left out Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer.”

I do not like their crony deals
I do not like 'oh yes, we can'

The other party talks a lot about nominating a woman in 2016, and that's fine. But she's going to have a lot of tough questions that she's going to have to answer.
. . . We will have a woman for president, just the right one.

Ann Coulter Rants that Immigrants Will Finish Off GOP

 photo cb9c5a78-b69b-4a05-bcfe-424c979ce487.png

Ann Coulter has never met an immigrant she likes, and now says they are going to be the downfall of the Grand Old Party. Call a Waaahhhmbulance!

Excerpt from "GOP CRAFTS PLAN TO WRECK THE COUNTRY, LOSE VOTERS" by Ann Coulter
As House Republicans prepare to sell out the country on immigration this week, Phyllis Schlafly has produced a stunning report on how immigration is changing the country. The report is still embargoed, but someone slipped me a copy, and it's too important to wait.
. . . Immigrants -- all immigrants -- have always been the bulwark of the Democratic Party. For one thing, recent arrivals tend to be poor and in need of government assistance. Also, they're coming from societies that are far more left-wing than our own. History shows that, rather than fleeing those policies, they bring their cultures with them. (Look at what New Yorkers did to Vermont.)
This is not a secret. For at least a century, there's never been a period when a majority of immigrants weren't Democrats.

At the current accelerated rate of immigration -- 1.1 million new immigrants every year -- Republicans will be a fringe party in about a decade.
. . . And it's fantastic for the Democrats, who are well on their way to a permanent majority, so they can completely destroy the last remnants of what was once known as "the land of the free."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To back her assertions, Coulter cites a study by Phyllis Schlafly, a fellow conservative pundit who has called on the Republicans to keep their party as white as possible.
~ Huffington Post
. . . the people the Republicans should reach out to are the white votes, the white voters who didn’t vote in the last election.
~ Conservative Phyllis Schlafly, via Right Wing Watch
On January 16, 2014 Coulter did an interview with Newsmax and said this:
We're a country. We are not a department store. We have to have some control over who comes into this country.
. . . I was thinking the other day it really is a dirty trick the Democrats have pulled because the vast majority of illegal immigrants are Hispanics, mostly Mexican, and you have to love them, they're such hard workers, and it's out of no animosity toward them. But the country has not voted to turn itself into Mexico. I love Mexicans, I love Mexican food. I don't want this country to be Japan or Sweden either. What's the matter with America as it is?
Right Wing Smears Wendy Davis for being Wendy Davis ~ Updated With More Vitriol
The GOP in Texas is really scared of Wendy Davis and they've started a smear campaign to prove it. It was bound to happen. She is a dream candidate for the Democrats in Texas in her bid for Governor and is getting financial help from all over the country. Whether she wins or not, she has become a national figure, and a huge target for the Right. Bring it on - she will just raise more money!
From the Dallas Morning News
A single mother working two jobs, she met Jeff Davis, a lawyer 13 years older than her, married him and had a second daughter. He paid for her last two years at Texas Christian University and her time at Harvard Law School, and kept their two daughters while she was in Boston. When they divorced in 2005, he was granted parental custody, and the girls stayed with him. Wendy Davis was directed to pay child support.
In an extensive interview last week, Davis acknowledged some chronological errors and incomplete details in what she and her aides have said about her life.
“My language should be tighter,” she said. “I’m learning about using broader, looser language. I need to be more focused on the detail.”
Letter from the Wendy Davis for Governor Campaign in Texas
Dear Friend,
As our campaign has gained momentum, our opponents have gotten more and more desperate. But now they’ve stooped to a new low by attacking my family, my education, and my personal story – playing politics with the journey that has been my life.
Mine is a story about a teenage single mother who struggled to keep her young family afloat. It’s a story about a young woman who was given a precious opportunity to work her way up in the world. It’s a story about resiliency, and sacrifice, and perseverance.
And you’re damn right it’s a true story.
The connotation is, you (ex-husband Jeff Davis was)... supporting a family and raising her kids. She was neither supporting a family nor raising her kids. She married a sugar daddy, whom she asked to meet. He supported her. He raised the kids, while she went to Harvard Law School.
~ Ann Coulter on Fox News
So this woman is just a fake. And she was readily embraced by the Democrat Party because she somehow was able to make some case, filibustering an anti-abortion law made to order, and they embraced her and just like Brad Pitt bought the wood, the Democrats embraced this babe, and it turns out that her life story has been blurred. So that's one of the scandals. I mean, "blurred" is not the word. She lied about her life story.
#GOP Rebranding Shambles ~ Backward, Racist and Cruel
 photo imagesqtbnANd9GcQRhPrk3TXNKgu-2aRxp.jpg
Stop Hispanic Immigration ~ We Need More White Australians
From Ann Coulter, Conservative Pundit
For decades, Mexicans have been about 30 percent of all legal immigrants to the United States, while only a smidgen more than 1 percent come from Great Britain. Is that fair? Granted, their food is better, but why is it the norm is to have nearly 30 times as many Mexican as British immigrants?
We have been taking in more immigrants from Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and Colombia, individually, than from England, our mother country. There are nearly twice as many immigrants from El Salvador as from Canada, and 10 times as many as from Australia.
. . . Mexicans are the largest immigrant group in America, with about 50 million Hispanics living here legally.
Marco Rubio's amnesty bill will soon make it 80 million. First, there are at least 11 million illegal immigrants, a majority from Mexico, who will be instantly legalized. Then we'll get their entire extended families under our chain migration system.
I wouldn't want that many Japanese! I wouldn't want that many Dutch (not that there are that many Dutch)! Why do we have to become a different country? Was there a vote when the country decided to turn itself into Mexico? No other country has ever just decided to turn itself into another country like this.
Repeal Obamacare ~ Because Death is a Miracle
From ThinkProgress
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) this week said that prayers to God will ensure Obamacare’s repeal, after 37 House of Representatives attempts to do so.
I think the President will ultimately be forced to repudiate his own signature piece of legislation because the American people will demand it,” she told an evangelical radio host Tuesday. “And I think before his second term is over, we’re going to see a miracle before our eyes, I believe God is going to answer our prayers and we’ll be freed from the yoke of Obamacare.”
Force Women to Have Ultrasounds ~ But Don't Accept the Results
Via San Antonio Express-News
At least 24 abortion-related bills were filed this session (in the Texas Legislature), some of which garnered the support of Gov. Rick Perry and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. Three marquee proposals for anti-abortion lawmakers failed to gain traction: a bill that would have banned abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy, a bill that would increase regulations for abortion facilities and a bill that would require doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges to a hospital within 50 miles.
. . . Last session — with an early boost from Perry — Republicans pushed proposals that forced women to undergo sonograms 24 hours prior to having an abortion and that slashed millions of dollars to family planning services.
Via Salon.com
At a Thursday congressional committee hearing on a proposed ban on abortion at 20 weeks in Washington, D.C., Christy Zink, a mother of two, testified how the measure would harm women who require late-term abortion care due to fetal abnormalities and other potentially fatal complications.
. . . In response to Zink’s testimony, Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, expressed “sympathy” for Zink, then accused her of “ripping apart” her fetus:
Ms. Zink, having my great sympathy and empathy both. I still come back wondering, shouldn’t we wait … and see if the child can survive before we decide to rip him apart? So, these are ethical issues, they’re moral issues, they’re difficult issues, and the parents should certainly be consulted. But it just seems like, it’s a more educated decision if the child is in front of you to make those decisions.
Contraception is Bad ~ For All Kinds of Scary Made-Up Reasons
From ThinkProgress
Republican Party of Virginia Treasurer Bob FitzSimmonds, a former aide to and “very close friend” of gubernatorial nominee Ken Cuccinelli II (R), told Virginia blogger Ben Tribbett that he is “not a big fan of contraception, frankly.”
. . . “I think there are some issues, we’re giving morning-after pills to 12-year-olds, and pretty soon I guess we’ll hand them out to babies, I don’t know.”
. . . “I believe that we don’t recognize the causal effect between the type of sex education that we’ve been giving and the spread of STDs. We focus on things like abortion, cause it’s a big pressure thing. I go into schools 15-20 times a year, I run a non-profit that goes into schools and talks to kids about sex. They’re all abortion and HIV. HIV’s kind of hard to catch. Abortion happens if you get pregnant. But we’re on the track for 50 percent of the American people to have Herpes by the time these kids are my age. And that is a profound — not only health but sociological crisis facing this country.”
Jesus Wept ~ The Bible Tells Me to Ignore the Poor
NBC News
During contentious debate over the Farm Bill, which funds food stamps, in the House Agriculture Committee, Rep. Juan Vargas, D-Calif., invoked the Book of Matthew as he noted his opposition to the cuts.
“[Jesus] says how you treat the least among us, the least of our brothers, that’s how you treat him,” Vargas, adding that Jesus specifically mentions the importance of feeding the hungry.
Republican Congressman Stephen Fincher of Tennessee, who supports cuts to the program, had his own Bible verse from the Book of Thessalonians to quote back to Vargas: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat,” he said.
From Daily Kos
Now, this would not normally be worthy of mention. Hardly a day goes by without some Republican sadist expressing fury that poor people have it so good. Devising new ways to make the peasants suffer is what makes Republicans wake up in the morning. What's fascinating about this particular case, though, is Fincher's background.
The reason this is even more egregious than the usual Republican class warfare is that Fincher himself is a poster boy for government dependency. It's not just that he's benefited here and there from some government help. That sort of low-level hypocrisy is almost to be expected from these types. But Fincher has received millions - $3.2 million as of June 2010 - in federal crop subsidies.
Danger! ~ Lowering Grocery Tax Will Lead the Poor to Buy More Food
Via Raw Story
The Kansas state Senate on Thursday voted to cut the state sales tax on food from 6.3 percent to 4.95 percent, but Sen. Jeff Melcher (R) led opposition against the measure, arguing that it would lead to people eating more.
“It seems to me we are encouraging the behavior of purchasing food and discouraging the behavior of purchasing anything else,” Melcher reportedly told his colleagues.
. . . “It seems to me it provides a complexity in the tax code that the retailers will have to deal with,”
State Rep. Barbara Bollier (R-Mission Hills) via Huffington Post
I have no words. That's just beyond comprehension to me. We each get to think what we want to think. But this is so far out there that I can't believe someone said it. It's frightening, that's what it is.
Saudi Conspiracy Theory:
Background points:
Via The Blaze
  • A Saudi national originally identified as a “person of interest” in the Boston Marathon bombing was set to be deported under section 212 3B — “Security and related grounds” — “Terrorist activities” after the bombing
  • As the story gained traction, TheBlaze’s Chief Content Officer Joel Cheatwood received word that the government may not deport the Saudi national, originally identified as Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi
  • Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano refused to answer questions on the subject when confronted by Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) on Capitol Hill.
  • An ICE official said a different Saudi national is in custody, but is “in no way” connected to the bombings.
  • A congressional source, however, says that the file on Alharbi was created, that he was “linked” in some way to the Boston bombings (though it is unclear how), and that documents showing all this have been sent to Congress.
Glenn Beck on his Radio Show, via Right-Wing Watch, My Transcription
I believe this man in the hospital, his mission was to recruit fighters that are already in the country. That way they can't be tracked crossing international borders. Once he recruits, then he can fund and provide the go-order when the time came. These two that were captured and killed on Friday would have been easy targets for an Al Quaeda recruiter. Hailing from Chechnya, being Muslims themselves, they would have been sympathetic.
During the first Chechnyan War Al Qaeda set up several training camps in 1994. They were funded, what a surprise, by charities run by Saudi Arabia.
The Al Qaeda links are too much to ignore here. Alharbi would have jumped at it. Someone needs to find the connection between these three.
I would start maybe with the Mosques and the social media connections and the hang-out spots.
But I don't expect anybody outside of our audience and bloggers who want to tell the truth to actually take the time.
May I suggest before absolutely everything is wiped clean (if it isn't all ready) that we start looking at social media connections . . .
. . . What are the odds that a guy who has a 212-3b just happens to be at the finish line of the Boston Marathon cheering for his favorite Kenyan runner? And so excited, and then - just, oh, he was trying so hard to keep himself clean and BOOM! the bomb goes off! What an odd odd thing. And I can see why Janet Napolitano and this Administration would have a hard time explaining it.
