That Repulsive Trump Tape

A tape was released last week on which Donald Trump talked about assaulting women and grabbing them "by the p***y." Over the weekend his own party members began to flee the sinking Trump Ship, but that wasn't enough to force any regret out of the candidate. In fact, during his second debate with Hillary Clinton on Monday night, Trump waved it all off as "locker room talk," as if that makes everything okay.

Schlong and Short of It ~ Trump Plays Misogyny Card Against Hillary

Donald Trump is a big, loud, hateful Misogynist. So what else is new?

When Hillary had to take a bathroom break during the latest Democratic debate, Trump made his disgust known:

"I know where she went -- it's disgusting, I don't want to talk about it," Trump said, screwing up his face, as the crowd laughed and cheered. "No, it's too disgusting. Don't say it, it's disgusting."

Disgusting - because I guess men never go to the bathroom, right?

Bernie Sanders opined: “This is a guy who wants to be president of the United States. He must have a very unusual relationship with women.”

Unusual, indeed. He hates women.

Trump also said that Obama beating Hillary during the 2008 Primary was a case of her getting "Schlonged." Yes, "Schlonged." And he used it as a verb, which makes it rather a synonym for "F***ed."

TRUMP: Let me just tell you. I may win, I may not win. Hillary, that's not a president. That's not -- she's not taking us -- everything that's been involved in Hillary has been loss. You take a look, even a race to Obama, she was going to beat Obama. I don't know who would be worse. I don't know. How does it get worse? But she was going to beat -- she was favored to win and she got schlonged.



Rachel Maddow believes Trump was confusing "Schlonged" which is Yiddish for "penis," with "Shellacked," meaning beaten:

“The Washington Post” reports today the only other time that Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump has been known in public to use the word, forgive me, schlonged, was in 2011 when he was talking about that same 2016 midterm election, that same midterm election in which President Obama very famously described it as having been shellacked and everybody talked about that midterm election using the word shellacking. Donald Trump in 2011 tried to talk about the 2010 shellacked midterms and instead he came out with the term schlonged.

. . . So, maybe this is like a malaprop.

A "malaprop" or "malapropism" means a mistake in word choice, referring to Mrs. Malaprop, a character in the play "The Rivals" by Richard Sheridan, 1775. The character nearly always chooses the wrong word for what she means, which makes her quite humorous to audiences. But Maddow went on to say she didn't believe her own theory:

I told you this was a bad theory. I don`t actually believe this. I don`t actually believe he meant something else and it came out wrong but you know what, it`s Christmastime, and it`s sometimes nice to imagine a nicer world than the one in which we live, one where the Republican Party`s leading presidential candidates, at least their leading presidential candidate, one of them, says stuff like this and does stuff like this.


In fact, Trump has not admitted making any mistakes with that word, and his spokesperson Katrina Pearson played dumb about it on CNN Via Crooks and Liars:
LEMON: Do you think that was -- Katrina, was that off the cuff? Because schlonged usually means, you know, something else.

PIERSON: Well, I think he was meaning like schlonged to the ground, schlonged around, I mean, are we really talking about the definition of a word of Hillary Clinton?

WILSON: Oh, he did not, Katrina. Come on, don't even try that.

PIERSON: What is -- what is schlonged in, Rick? Why don't you tell me what schlong means.

Trump then accused Hillary and her camp of playing the "Woman are Degraded Card"



That statement caused Michaela Pereira of CNN to state this on air:

“Is it a card? She is a woman, it’s not really a card.”

But Trump can't stop, and decided to attack Bill Clinton next! Talk about holier than thou! How many times has Trump been divorced again???

. . . Texas state Senator Wendy “Abortion Barbie” Davis is even dumber than her fake blonde hair would imply. According to the far-left (and huge fans of Abortion Barbie) Texas Tribune, Davis is likely to add tougher gun restrictions to her campaign agenda if (when) she decides to run for Governor.
. . . This is great news. Instead of getting beat by a mere 8 pts in the race for Governor, she’s looking to get trounced by 15 pts instead.

Dave Carney, a top adviser to Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott (R) tweeted out a blog on Thursday calling Sen. Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) "too stupid to be governor."
. . . The tweet came only weeks after Abbott thanked a supporter for a tweet that referred to Wendy Davis as "Retard Barbie."

The truth is, Senator Davis puts bottomless fear in the hearts of Texas Republicans. That fear finds itself in the company of ready misogyny that these twisted minds think will somehow gain them voters. They're wrong. And if Davis enters the race, they have set the stage perfectly for her to contrast her leadership, ideas and approach with their own. Wendy Davis wants to make Texas better, and the other side wants to attack Wendy Davis in the most offensive ways possible. In doing so, they'll push away voters in the middle and enable Davis, who is likely to have a volunteer force unseen before in Texas politics, to take the governor's mansion.
And what a brighter day that would be than the stormy one in which these cretins set up shop in the governor's office.

Rush Limbaugh as The Accidental Sexist (Yeah, Right)

RUSH: Do you know the stories about the things that this mayor in San Diego's been doing? I mean, it is jaw dropping. This is a Democrat mayor, the things that he has been doing to women for years is just jaw dropping, and there hasn't been any coverage of it. I mean, there's starting to be some now, but while it was going on, there was none. And when you read these stories, it is a textbook case of discrimination and abuse by a guy, a man with more power than the women who work near him, for him, with him. If you're gonna start teaching things in women's studies classes, this would be something to teach. I mean, this is textbook how this guy has behaved, how he's on getting away with it, as a Democrat.

I mean, the feminazis could use this to raise all kinds of awareness and money for another decade but they're not because he's a Democrat. So everybody's trying to sweep it under the -- this guy coulda probably called 'em sluts and nothing woulda happened to him. Ahem. We have 30 seconds to decide whether we want to let that go or cancel that out. We're gonna let that one go. Staff approves of that one, fine and dandy, it's there.

. . . This is what the feminazis have been teaching against forever, and they ignore it, because the guy is a good Democrat. And above all else, the party and the movement must be saved. In fact, more than saved. Not even harmed.

And you compare that to the just out of control, nonsensical reaction to a word that was accidentally used and apologized for, and I tell you, it is stunning. Where are those same exact people on this genuinely abhorrent set of abuses by this mayor? It's liberal hypocrisy and essentially liberal hypocrisy's not possible. Liberals are not hypocrites so it doesn't get talked about, doesn't get reported on.

I can comment on the fact that all good folks can agree that the remarks that were made don’t have any place in the public discourse. And you know, the reason I called Ms. Fluke is because I thought about my daughters, and one of the things I want them to do as they get older is to engage in issues they care about, even ones I may not agree with them on. I want them to be able to speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way… I do not want them attacked or called horrible names because they are being good citizens, and I wanted Sandra to know that I thought her parents should be proud of her, and that we want to send a message to all of our young people that being part of a democracy involves argument and disagreements and debate, and we want you to be engaged, and there’s a way to do it that doesn’t involve you being demeaned and insulted, particularly when you are a private citizen.

Fluke, of course, is the condom rights advocate turned Georgetown Law School martyr who testified before Congress about the hardships encountered by young female law school students who couldn’t afford to pay for their own birth control pills. Rush Limbaugh ripped her, prompting faux outcry from the left, all the way up to President Obama, who seized on the incident as proof that the right was waging some sort of war on women, as opposed to a battle against pathetic dependency on government. Obama called her personally, then used her as a campaign surrogate.
Leave it to Time to make her its Person of the Year. Of course, in the year of the dependent American voter, they might be right.

Doofus Todd Akin Versus "Wildcat" McCaskill

I think we have a very clear path to victory, and apparently Claire McCaskill thinks we do, too, because she was very aggressive at the debate, which was quite different than it was when she ran against Jim Talent. She had a confidence and was much more ladylike (in 2006), but in the debate on Friday she came out swinging, and I think that's because she feels threatened."

If you look at some of the things that Todd Akin has said over the years, I mean, he's said things like in the heart of liberalism is a hatred of God. He has been a handful of votes against things like the sex offender registry, and the Center for Missing and Exploited Children. I mean, this is somebody who kind of makes Michele Bachmann look like a hippie.
. . . I don't know exactly what his accusation that I'm not ladylike means. I think the debate was tough for Todd because I went through the list of his very, very extreme positions and I think he maybe wasn't prepared to answer some of that.

AKIN: Well, first of all, the premise of your question is that I'm making that particular distinction. I believe in free enterprise. I don't think the government should be telling people what you pay and what you don't pay. I think it's about freedom. If someone what’s to hire somebody and they agree on a salary, that's fine, however it wants to work. So, the government sticking its nose into all kinds of things has gotten us into huge trouble.

First, Todd Akin said Claire's not 'ladylike' because she's standing up for working families, now he's opposed to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay act because he believes employers should have the freedom to discriminate against their female employees. Once again, it's clear that the problem isn't what Todd Akin says, the problem is what Todd Akin believes.

His ignorant comments to date reflect that not only does he have no clue about female anatomy, he also has no clue about our brains. I would say that his comments are very unmasculine, but I think the sad truth is they aren't. They are very "masculine." They reflect a stereotype of the typical, misogynistic attitude of men of a certain age and value system.
The fact is, men like Akin had their turn. This is a new time for men, and as angry as I am on behalf of my daughter because obviously his comments hurt all girls, I am also mad on behalf of my son. I don't want my son thinking that the only way to be a man is to keep women in a box.

All of this – the belief that some rape victims are more legitimate than others, the hostility toward women who are "aggressive" and "unladylike", the refusal to protect women from violence if those women are immigrants or lesbians – reflects the GOP's fundamental view that women are not equal citizens. The entire Republican social platform is structured around the idea of the "traditional family", where men are in the public sphere as breadwinners and heads of households, and women stay in private, taking care of children and serving as helpmeets to their husbands. The conservative worldview sees men as naturally in charge, and women as naturally nurturing and supportive of male authority.

Michelle Obama's speech last night at the Democratic National Convention was amazing. So were fair pay champion Lilly Ledbetter's and Iraq war hero Tammy Duckworth's. All of these women spoke powerfully about the need for pay equity, the importance of health care reform, and reproductive freedom for women.

And CNN contributor Erick Erickson's reaction to all these inspiring women? He tweeted: "First night of the Vagina Monologues in Charlotte going as expected."

Seriously? He hears powerful, eloquent women talking about crucial issues and that's his reaction? Perhaps it shouldn't be that surprising, given his history of insulting women. Earlier this year, he defended Rush Limbaugh's attacks on Sandra Fluke, saying "her testimony before congress that American taxpayers should subsidize the sexual habits of Georgetown Law School students because, God forbid, they should stop having sex if they cannot afford the pills themselves."

Erick Erickson is paid by CNN to offer conservative viewpoints--but he repeatedly offers sexist and offensive commentary. Enough is enough: CNN must fire him right away.

"Sorry you were offended" is well-known code for "I stand by every word, but am sorry that not everyone agrees with me." Which is appropriate in some cases, such as when what you said makes sense, but in this particular case a more thorough apology is called for. "Sorry that I think my audience is stupid enough not to notice that my objection to letting women speak didn't extend to the RNC, which featured many female speakers," would be a good start. "Sorry that I need to believe half the human race has nothing of value to add in order to feel good about myself," is another, more appropriate apology.

That year, a TV ad featuring quarterback Tim Tebow had been rumored to contain an anti-abortion rights message. When the ad aired and was not as pointed as expected, Erickson tweeted, "That's what the feminazis were enraged over? ... That's what being too ugly to get a date does to your brain" and "Ugly feminists return to their kitchens." He continued his attacks the next day.

Paul Ryan's Problem with Women

Paul Ryan is very pleased with himself that he voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. That’s for families. That’s voting against American families, and American families right to get what they’re legally earning and entitled to under the law. And he’s also going to do away with Medicare, Social Security . . .
. . . Paul Ryan scares me to death. I did not like to hear him when he was just a Congressman. The way he would talk about cut, cut, cut. We Americans in this country in middle class and down, we will not survive.

He's turned into a meme. He has a hashtag. All these people who might have sat this out are making fun of Paul Ryan. Or the fact that we've been hearing about Ayn Rand all week, we should also be hearing about The Handmaid's Tale, which is basically if you look at Paul Ryan's voting record, the vision that he has for women.
