Trump's Cuckoo Press Conference

President Trump held a truly bizarre, impromptu press conference yesterday that took his insanity to new heights (or lows). I mean, it's hard to describe it without using Alice in Wonderland - Mad Hatter - Down the Rabbit Hole analogies.

Trump held court during a news conference that lasted an hour and fifteen minutes, carving out a stunning moment in modern American political history. He displayed a sense of anger and grievance rarely vented by a President in public -- let alone one who has been in office for just four weeks.
"I have never seen more dishonest media, frankly than the political media," Trump said, later slamming leaks to the press from the intelligence community -- some of which led to the resignation of national security adviser Michael Flynn.
"The leaks are real. The leaks are absolutely real. The news is fake because so much of the news is fake," Trump said.

Nazi Trump Demands Sieg Heil from Crowd - But Not Racist Of Course

Is Trump a full-on racist? He spent most of 2012 attacking President Obama with vacuous Birtherisms, demanding to see his "real" birth certificate -- from Africa.

But oh no, most Republicans wouldn't say that is racist! Is it racism if most Republicans agree with you, or at least when Sheriff Joe Arpaio agrees with you? He's an expert on race relations and minorities, right?



Then again, last December, Trump said the families of Muslim criminals should be punished as a form of retribution. But again, Lord no, said the pundits clutching their pearls - that doesn't make Trump a racist anymore than wanting to deport ALL illegal aliens no matter what their status, or calling all Mexican immigrants criminals and rapists. Heavens, no - how could that make someone a racist?

Last week, Trump got an endorsement from a real undisputed racist - David Duke - ex-Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. But oh, goodness me, that wasn't Trump's fault, even when he wouldn't disavow them on national TV just before the Super Tuesday elections. Eventually he DID disavow Duke, so all is well, nothing to see here.



Well, how about this: in the last week, Trump - still the frontrunner of the Republican Party for President of the United States - has started asking the supporters at his events to stand and raise their right hands to swear they will vote for him. You know, like Hitler's loyal did during his speeches. It's not subtle at all, even to the now panicked pundits who let this crap go on for so long.

Trump is making a big show of getting a "Sieg Heil" from citizens of the United States while the whole world is watching, and our allies are chilled to the bone by what they see. And we should scared be too, whether you think Trump is Hitler, Mussolini, or just a big rich doofus obsessed with power - really what difference does it make? He's dangerous.

He told the newspaper (Times of Israel) that the gesture’s symbolism was obvious and troubling.
“It is a fascist gesture,” Foxman said. “He is smart enough — he always tells us how smart he is — to know the images that this evokes. Instead of asking his audience to pledge allegiance to the United States of America, which in itself would be a little bizarre, he’s asking them to swear allegiance to him.”

Republicans, you cannot count on the Democrats to stop Trump. I believe that Hillary Clinton will win the Democratic nomination, and I intend to vote for her, but it is also the case that she is a candidate with significant weaknesses, as your party knows quite well. The result of a head-to-head contest between Clinton and Trump would be unpredictable. Trump has to be blocked in your primary.

So it has come to this: The front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, at a campaign rally in Orlando Saturday, leading supporters in what looked very much like a fascist salute.
“Can I have a pledge? A swearing?” Trump asked, raising his right hand and directing his followers to do the same. He then led them in pledging allegiance — not to the flag, but to Trump, for which they stand and for whom they vowed to vote.
. . . The Germans, too, find him dangerous — and they should know. Der Spiegel, the German newsmagazine, last month called Trump “the world’s most dangerous man” and leader of a “hate-filled authoritarian movement” who “inflames tensions against ethnic minorities …while ignoring democratic conventions.”

Ted Cruz Is Scaring Small Children Now

Ted Cruz visited New Hampshire as part of his early campaigning for President, and decided to go all Apocalypse Now and scare a little girl by telling her "The World is On Fire."

What type of man does this? Oh yeah, a sociopath. Her GOP parents, however, explained to her that Cruz was a "fireman" and a "hero," so it didn't bother her after that. Yes, lying to children is the new family values.

. . . a little girl, who the Concord Monitor identified as three-year-old Julie Trant, interrupted the senator’s speech with a voice full of astonishment.

“The world’s on fire?” Trant said.

Her interjection drew laughter from the crowd, and Cruz repeated his claim -- but offered assurances to the young girl that her mother and others are working to make the world safe.

“The world’s on fire. Yes. Your world’s on fire,” he said to more laughter. “But you know what your mommy’s here and everyone’s here to make sure that the world you grow up in is even better."

But apparently the thought of the world engulfed in flames didn't bother the little girl. In a radio interview with WRKO Monday, Trant’s mother, Michelle, described her daughter’s reaction, saying she wasn’t scared by Cruz’s claim and instead views the senator as a “firefighter."




Seth Myers had Cruz on the show and asked why he wanted to scare a child about the "world on fire," while tweaking Cruz for his disbelief in global warming.

“First, I got excited, because I thought maybe you were coming around on global warming, but that’s not the case, right?” Meyers said. “Because I think the world’s on fire, literally — hottest year on record — but you’re not there, right?”
Meyers was right — Cruz isn’t there yet. The senator talked about the cold weather he experienced while in New Hampshire this weekend, and said that the climate hasn’t warmed in over a decade — a claim he’s relied on in the past.
“It’s interesting that you say that, as I just came back from New Hampshire, where there’s snow and ice everywhere,” Cruz said. “My view actually is simple. Debates on this should follow science, and should follow data. And many of the alarmists on global warming, they’ve got a problem because the science doesn’t back them up.”

White House Intruder was well-known to Secret Service

In a scary moment last Friday, a man armed with a knife rushed past Secret Service Agents on the White House lawn and got as far as the door. The first family had just left the building, thank God, but why wasn't this guy stopped? And media is now reporting that the guy is an Iraq veteran who also happened to have 800 rounds of ammo in his car, and he is a repeat-offender with weapons charges in Virginia who was well-known by the Secret Service.

This is baffling and disturbing. Why was this guy allowed anywhere near the White House grounds? At least he is in custody now, but it's worrying that others might try to breeze past security and blow up a bomb or something.

. . . Federal prosecutors said that officers found 800 rounds of ammunition, two hatchets and a machete in the car of Omar Jose Gonzalez, 42, of Texas, after they searched it on Friday. The prosecutors made their disclosure before a judge as they argued that Mr. Gonzalez should continue to be held in jail because he posed a danger to President Obama.

The judge agreed, and Mr. Gonzalez will remain in custody until a hearing next month.

In late August, Secret Service officers stopped Mr. Gonzalez in front of the fence on the White House’s South Lawn after they noticed a hatchet in his waistband, the officials said. The officers searched Mr. Gonzalez’s car, finding two dogs, camping equipment but no weapons. He was not arrested or questioned further.

In July, Mr. Gonzalez was arrested after he led Virginia troopers on a high-speed pursuit along Interstate 81 in Southwest Virginia in his Ford Bronco. After being stopped, police found the vehicle filled with weapons, according to a release by the state police.

Among the items found in Mr. Gonzalez’s vehicle in July was a mini-arsenal of 11 guns including two shotguns and four rifles, some equipped with scopes and bipods that a sniper would use and “a map of Washington, D.C., with writing and a line drawn to the White House,” law enforcement officials said. He also had four pistols, three of them loaded, and a revolver. The inventory of Mr. Gonzales’ vehicle listed by the Virginia State Police indicates the items were found stored in his vehicle’s “bulky floor.”

Rep. Michael Grimm R-NY Threatens Reporter With Bodily Harm

This happened after the State of the Union Speech on Tuesday night: a reporter for the New York One station named Michael Scotto was interviewing Representative Michael Grimm R-NY, asking about a political donor scandal that has been in the news for months. Grimm flipped out and went completely thug, threatening to hang the reporter by his bootstraps or worse:

Grimm: "Let me be clear to you, you ever do that to me again I'll throw you off this f-----g balcony."

Scotto: "Why? I just wanted to ask you..."

Grimm: "If you ever do that to me again..."

Scotto: "Why? Why? It’s a valid question."

[[cross talk]]

Grimm: "No, no, you're not man enough, you're not man enough. I'll break you in half. Like a boy."

In a statement, Grimm said,

“I was extremely annoyed because I was doing NY1 a favor by rushing to do their interview first in lieu of several other requests. The reporter knew that I was in a hurry and was only there to comment on the State of the Union, but insisted on taking a disrespectful and cheap shot at the end of the interview, because I did not have time to speak off-topic. I verbally took the reporter to task and told him off, because I expect a certain level of professionalism and respect, especially when I go out of my way to do that reporter a favor. I doubt that I am the first Member of Congress to tell off a reporter, and I am sure I won’t be the last.”

What was Grimm so ticked-off about? Well . . . he's in hot water:

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow pointed out the similarities between Rand Paul’s talk in Virginia about Gattaca and that futuristic film’s Wikipedia entry.
. . . A revision history of the Gattaca Wikipedia page showed Paul had to have copied the speech since no changes were made after Paul’s speech.
A June 12, 2013 speech on immigration discussed the movie Stand and Deliver.
. . . the Wikipedia article on the film with red lines over the text...appears verbatim in Paul’s speech.

Nobody is accusing you of pretending that you wrote ‘Gattaca’ or that you wrote ‘Stand and Deliver,’ that is not what this about. This is not about you explaining a plot line. This is about you lifting other peoples’ words verbatim and pretending that they are your own. This is something that high school students know not to do. And you are presenting yourself as potential candidate for president.

Rand Paul's Gattaca Moment

Rachel Maddow, host of an MSNBC talk show and bane of Rand Paul’s existence, accused the Kentucky Senator of stealing lines from his speech at Liberty University on Monday from a Wikipedia entry about the 1997 movie Gattaca.
. . . In all, Maddow accused Paul of quoting almost word-for-word four passages in the Wikipedia entry explaining the science fiction movie.

. . . it’s ridiculous enough that the Kentucky Senator used a 16-year-old science fiction film’s plot as some lame attempt to stir up fear while giving a speech. Then he just compounds his absurdity by plagiarizing the movie’s Wikipedia page.

Threat Level Midnight ~ Bob Woodward Afraid of Coded Threat from White House

Woodard reiterated that he never said he felt threatened, and resisted Sean Hannity's efforts to get him to say that the White House is lying, or accusing him of being a liar. "I'm not going to use words like that," said Woodward.
However, he went on to explain that he still thinks there was something sinister about Sperling's apologetic note. "The problem I have with the Gene Sperling email — and this comes after a shouting match, lot's of people shout at me — he's says I'm going to 'regret.' That goes into the coded, 'you better watch out,'" Woodward said. But to be clear, he still hasn't uttered the word "threat."

"I know what intimidation is. And Bob, the headline in the Washington Post, your newspaper, was that 'Woodward said he was threatened by the White House,'" Axelrod said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" today. "... But when the full emails came out, they were as cordial as can be. His email was cordial, and your response was cordial."

"So if you felt threatened," Axelrod continued, "why didn't you say to Gene, 'Don't threaten me?'"



"No, I did not feel threatened," Woodward responded. "What I have said, David — come on, you are putting words in my mouth. I said I don't think this is the way to operate. And you and I have had many discussions. You've never said to me, 'Oh, you're going to regret doing that.' Am I correct?"

Axelrod said that Sperling and Woodward were having a "specific discussion about a specific point."

"And by the way, I'm not putting words in your mouth, Bob. It's your newspaper that said you said you were threatened," Axelrod said.

Good evening, I was threatened. Well, not threatened. I felt threatened. I mean, I could have felt threatened. At first I didn't feel threatened, then I did, but I don't know why.

If you’ve been keeping up with The Perils of Bobline, when we last left Bob Woodward, he was tied up and left on the railroad tracks by the evil Snidely Obama who threatened him that if he didn’t pay the mortgage, he would foreclose on his publishing house and let the train run over him.
In response, Bobline cried out in a high pitch, “Help! Help! Oh please, someone help poor little growing irrelevant me!”
But it was too late, the train of media opinion ran over the melodramatic Bobline and his professional credibility was killed.
