GOP Senators Vent Poutrage with Holder at Loretta Lynch Confirmation

The GOP has been itching to impeach Eric Holder for years, whether for the made-up "Fast and Furious" conspiracy theory, or just because he's Obama's Attorney General, and also black.

But now Holder is about to leave office, so the GOP decided to use the Senate Confirmation Hearing of Loretta Lynch to throw shade on Holder. And they did it with complete nonsense and random statements that had nothing to do with Lynch or her career. Somebody please call them a Wahhhhhhmbulance!

Angry Nation Ponders Eric Garner Non-Verdict from New York Grand Jury

There are really no words - or breath left to speak words - after the non-decision of a New York Grand Jury in the tragic death of Eric Garner, who was killed by a cop while in a stranglehold on a public sidewalk. The whole thing was caught on film from the first interaction to his dying breath, yet to the bafflement of the world, no indictment against the cop was brought by the Grand Jury. Once again a prosecutor chose to protect law enforcement instead of enforcing the law.

And it's been another sad day for our country as we grieve another senseless death at the hands of the police, the death of a man who was selling cigarettes on the city streets. He wasn't a thug, he wasn't being violent. There was no danger for the cop who killed him. There is no instant death sentence for resisting arrest.

We have to solve this, and soon.

Eric Holder has announced an investigation into the Garner case, as well as in Ferguson for the victim Mike Brown. Until there is some kind of justice and cops are held accountable by somebody somewhere, protests are going to fill the streets of our country. Tonight thousands flooded into the streets from New York to Seattle, and Reverend Al Sharpton has called for a march on Washington on December 13th. It would be nice to have some sense of resolution of all these racially motivated cop shootings by Christmas, but the thin blue line is into protecting itself these days and most politicians don't seem to give a damn.

Another bad night in Ferguson, Missouri. The Governor announced yesterday that the official curfew was lifted. But just before midnight the tanks and heavily armed police rolled onto the scene out of nowhere. Suddenly shots were being fired, rocks were thrown, and tear gas filled the air. A few more journalists were roughed up or arrested, but hey - they are keeping the peace, right? Are we Russia now? No - eventually this mayhem has to end. The President is sending Eric Holder to Ferguson today, and hopefully the murderer of Michael Brown will be arrested, or they will at least explain WHY he hasn't been arrested yet. Is Darren Wilson even in Missouri at this time?

Now I want you to look at what is going on in Ferguson, Missouri, in downtown America, okay? These are armed police, with — not machine guns — semi-automatic rifles, with batons, with shields, many of them dressed for combat. Now why they’re doing this? I don’t know. Because there is no threat going on here. None that merits this. There is none, okay? Absolutely there have been looters, absolutely over the last nine days there’s been violence, but there is nothing going on on this street right now that merits this scene out of Bagram. Nothing.
So if people wonder why the people of Ferguson, Missouri are so upset, this is part of the reason. What is this? This doesn’t make any sense.”

And There Was Don Lemon




Don Lemon getting pushed around which caused some levity on Twitter. Not because the situation with police in Ferguson is funny, but because in the past Lemon made speeches that seemed to blame innocent kids like Trayvon Martin for attracting the ire of white people by wearing baggy pants and using Black slang. He had even mocked the protesters the night before as "these people." It somehow seemed poetic justice that the clueless Lemon got a taste of police brutality.

Republicans Create Fast and Furious Witch Hunt

Here is theory that some Congressional Republicans believe: The Obama Administration intentionally handed over automatic weapons to Mexican drug cartels, who they knew would commit violent acts, because they wanted to scare Americans into supporting stricter gun laws.
. . . Major Republicans ... endorse this conspiracy theory. Among those are Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), who is Chair of the House Oversight Committee and is heading up the investigation of Eric Holder. In an interview on FOX, Issa said, “very clearly, they made a crisis, and they’re using this crisis to somehow take away or limit people’s Second Amendment rights.”
. . . The NRA is driving the conspiracy theory paranoia though ads. The National Rifle Association is furthering the paranoia as a way to rally gun owners by running advertisements and a petition calling on President Obama to fire Eric Holder.

USA Today: House Votes to Hold Eric Holder in Contempt
WASHINGTON – A House oversight committee voted Wednesday to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt, marking an escalation of the long-running dispute between Republicans and the Justice Department over internal administration documents related to Operation Fast and Furious."
The 23-17 vote to hold Holder in contempt of Congress came as President Obama on Wednesday morning invoked executive privilege of certain documents related to the controversial botched gun-trafficking sting.

What's happening really is a Republican witch hunt. This is the Obama Administration version of Whitewater. The Republicans are going to spend millions and millions of dollars so they can come up with nothing, absolutely nothing. I'm surprised they haven't called in Ken Starr to help them yet.
It's a very simple situation here: The Obama Administration is trying to protect undercover agents in the field in a sting operation. They know that if they give the identities of those agents or other information like that over to the Republicans in the House it will be in the newspapers in twenty-four hours. It'll be putting people's lives in danger. Federal Agents lives in danger. Therefore they're not turning over some selective information....there's very little left to turn over. But the Republicans want more and more and more because they're just trying to make a circus out of this.
. . . I think it is already back firing on them. People are fed up with the Republicans. They understand the only thing they care about are tax cuts and giving the President a hard time — and I’m talking about tax cuts for the one percent....they just have the wrong priorities.

There is only one thing wrong with this conspiracy theory, THERE IS NO THERE THERE.
This whole thing has been made up from the ground up and cirulates around the republican echo chamber where no sliver of reality ever gets in.

Fast and Furious wouldn't be an issue if America had civilized gun control. The 2nd Amendment, despite the silly interpretation by the current Tea Party SCOTUS, talks about a 'well regulated Militia' which all but Constitutionally requires gun control.

Issa's Backstory From NPR
Issa made his fortune building and selling Viper car alarms. He is the wealthiest member of Congress, worth as much as $450 million. In fact, it's Issa's voice on the popular alarm's signature warning to would-be thieves: "Protected by Viper. Stand back."
What's less well known is how Issa got into car alarms in the first place.
"For years I used to tell everyone that I went into it because my brother was a car thief. Then they found out when I ran for office my brother did spend time in prison as a car thief, and it ruined the whole joke I'd had for 20 years in business," Issa said during an interview with WhoRunsGov.
Issa himself was accused several times of auto theft. In the early 1970s, he and his brother were arrested after police suspected them of stealing a Maserati sports car from a dealership in Cleveland. Issa says the police mistook his identity, and the charges were later dismissed.
Another time, Issa was arrested and eventually pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon. Police found a handgun and a tear-gas gun — plus ammunition for both — in Issa's glove compartment.

California Representative and Slytherin House Master, Darrell Issa, has demanded key documents that Attorney General Eric Holder has brazenly withheld on the flimsy excuse that they would endanger undercover agents.
Folks, that's too convenient.
I think Holder is hiding a far more sinister truth. . . . very clearly, Obama started this gun tracking program in 2006 when he hypnotized George Bush.
Then he secretly ordered Attorney General Holder to order the Justice Department to order the ATF to order the gun shops to sell guns to Mexican Drug Cartels and then lose track of them thereby panicking Americans to gin up support for the draconian gun control measures that Obama has never produced.
Complicated. Yes.
The fevered ramblings of a syphlitic brain. Perhaps.
But, Occam's Razor says my answer is right or I will cut you with a razor.

Ad Hominem Republicans Attack Nancy Pelosi's Mind

"You know my friend Allen West said the race card was the last card in the deck. I think former Speaker Pelosi has opened up a new deck and has found the 2 of clubs. I could not believe it when I heard her saying that. Is that all you have to come back with?" Rep. Gowdy said on FOX News tonight.

"Is that the best you can come up with, is that we got together in this grand scheme to suppress votes and I'm sure she didn't say southern states but that's what she meant," Gowdy said.

"It's really beneath the office of a member of Congress to say something that outrageous and the fact that she was once the Speaker is mind numbing. I honestly, and I have her a lot in my 16 years as a prosecutor, I couldn't believe the words coming out of her mouth. But keep in mind, Greta, this is the same woman who said she could have arrested Karl Rove any day she wanted. So I don't know what was wrong with her yesterday or today or whenever she said that, but I would schedule an appointment with my doctor if she thinks that we are doing this to suppress votes this fall. That is mind-numbingly stupid," he said.
