Jeb Bush and the Big Gun Meme

 photo 8f515288-d3d0-4ed9-a768-aad631eeb234.jpg

I'm sure Jeb Bush thought it would help his failing primary campaign to pander to gun nuts in South Carolina and Nevada when he posted a tweet of a big gun with his name stamped on it in gold letters and the word "America."

And the Twitterverse plus news media gave him what he deserved for such a tone-deaf and ridiculous tweet. What was he expecting? Why would any real Presidential Candidate want the world to think of America as one big gun fight, even if that is the GOP-Doomsday Prepper-Sovereign Citizen-NRA fantasy?

The #NRA Comes to Nashville

 photo img_gallery2015.jpg

The gun-loving horde called the National Rifle Association descended on Nashville, Tennessee, this week. Ironically, loaded guns were not allowed within the venue - can you say hypocrites? They could have gone to Texas or some state where everyone could open carry everywhere, but they are concerned for their own safety. Thus, the NRA Convention was held in a "Gun Free Zone" which they say they are against.

It's probably a good thing - these gun nuts always end up shooting themselves in the foot, and they know it.

 photo nra-nashville.jpg

My state of Tennessee has a love-hate relationship with guns. Clearly they are part of our heritage, from Davy Crockett to Sergeant York. But now that the true crazies have taken over the Tennessee Legislature, and hunting has become more popular than Bible-thumping, the NRA has more political pull than the Southern Baptist Convention.

However, not everyone is thrilled with the NRA - like me, for instance! I don't own any guns, and never will. And my father was a veteran who won badges for marksmanship, but amazingly he came home from WWII and never saw a need to shoot anybody. My Tennessee ancestors probably shot squirrels to make gravy, but that was for survival. I think they liked ham and fried chicken better...

But anyway, let's talk about our Governor, Bill Haslam, who is more of a bird-watcher than a hunter. While it's true that he just signed an ill-thought-out bill allowing "Guns in Parking Lots" (because people have guns in their cars anyway - so just give up on that), he sometimes ignores politics and vetoes crazy bills sent to him by the TN Legislature.

The latest is a "Guns in Parks" bill that was pushed through just in time for the NRA goons to arrive in town. The bill would also allow guns within the public buildings of the state capital. That's getting too close to home for Haslam, and he probably has too many enemies in the Tea Party to feel comfortable if they are packing heat - there could be one of those "accidental shootings" that responsible gun owners cause. And I truly believe he knows that parks are supposed to be peaceful places for families and not gun-fights between rednecks. We are a tourist state, and Nashville is a tourist city, end of story.

I'm thrilled that the NRA doesn't like Bill Haslam, and I think he will listen to cooler heads and veto the "Guns in Parks" bill.

But the convention gave many of the GOP 2016 hopefuls a forum, sort of a mini-GOP convention, where they were assured of a warm welcome. Yes, unlike the real world. The only two not invited were Rand Paul and Chris Christie.

Child Kills Gun Instructor with Uzi

 photo de81a2ec-72ed-40b3-9fd5-d3dd1c9c9dc4.jpg

Some idiot parents took their nine-year-old daughter to a gun range in the Arizona desert, where she was encouraged to fire an UZI assault weapon at a target. When the instructor put the weapon on automatic, the child couldn't handle the recoil and accidentally shot the teacher, blowing off his head.

This death brought to you by the #NRA and the #GOP in 'Merica.

From CNN
Charles Vacca was accidentally shot in the head as he instructed the 9-year-old girl how to fire an Uzi, an Israeli-made 9mm submachine gun. As she pulled the trigger, the gun jumped out of her left hand toward Vacca, who was standing beside her.
"To put an Uzi in the hands of a 9-year-old ... is extremely reckless, " CNN law enforcement analyst Tom Fuentes said.
Gun experts contacted by CNN on Wednesday said young children should be taught to shoot with single-shot firearms rather than submachine guns.
. . . Chief Deputy Mohave County Attorney Jace Zack told CNN on Wednesday that prosecutors didn't foresee criminal charges.
The Mohave County Sheriff's Office said the girl was with her parents. The three reside in New Jersey.
Asked about the culpability of the girl's parents, he said: "We have considered the parents, but if anyone was culpable it would be the instructor for putting a deadly weapon in her hands."

The owner of the Gun Range defended the girl's right to shoot an Uzi, because it was on the child's "bucket list." Now since when do 9-year-olds have a "bucket list?" Do gun nuts really believe the stuff they spout day after day?

All In With Chris Hayes Transcript, via Daily Kos

Chris Hayes: "... you told a reporter that a 5 year old can shoot a 22 if they have their parents consent. Could a five year old also conceivably shoot an uzi...?"

SS: "...we don't let anybody enter the range -- except on the Eddie Eagle program... -- unless they're eight years old or older -- and we grow some pretty big eight year olders out here in Arizona...

... This was a very mature young lady, and it's something she wanted to do and her parents were treating her. You know, this was a big -- something that was high on her bucket list to do and her parents took her out to do what she was gonna do...

... It's something she did, it's a tragedy and my heart goes out to her...

… We're a very tight knit group here. It's more like family. I don't want any of my people to stub their toes, let alone get killed in the process, you know it's heartbreaking."

CH: "... why would you let an eight year old shoot an uzi? I mean what's the possible upside? The downside is so horribly clear. What do you say to people that just look at this and their jaws are on the floor?"

SS: "Well, you know I tell you we've had probably 100,000 people shoot on our two ranges combined, and we've had of that probably 1500 to 2000 have been kids. The kids rent a lot of automatic weapons, we do birthday parties for children here, we do bachelor and bachelorette parties...

... we've got first aid kits and the god-darned things are brand new. Never had an injury in the place."

"Unclean Vermin" - The Ted Nugent Cancellation Tour

For some unfathomable reason, rocker gun-nut Ted Nugent has been booked into several public places this summer as "entertainment," even though he is an epic racist. After a letter to the editor in Oshkosh, Wisconsin raised questions about whether Nugent should be performing ANYWHERE, some of  the  Indian Nations stepped up to cancel his performances at casinos, perhaps due to his insulting act of wearing a headdress and singing about a "White Buffalo" - symbolizing himself - that seeks to white-splain things to the injuns.

To me this story is all about the type of people who frequent Casinos on the Reservations - white gambling hypocrites and Tea Party males with Peter Pan fixations who are also NRA members. Maybe even they might like a different singer hwo hasn't threatened to shoot the President of the United States.

It started in Oshkosh, Wisconsin:

From Gannett Northwestern:
Ted Nugent headlines Waterfest in Oshkosh during a July 26 premium show - but not everyone is happy about it.
In fact, Nugent's scheduled appearance has led one Oshkosh resident, Kevin Kratsch to call for the cancellation of the show, while others question the rationale for booking the outspoken, controversial rocker.
. . .Kratsch said he was initially moved to take action after finding out the East Texas town of Longview paid Nugent about $16,000 earlier this year to not play a Fourth of July event he was booked for. He felt if it could be done in Texas, it could be done here too.
The online petition calling on Waterfest to cancel the show, on the MoveOn.org website., had 242 signatures as of Friday afternoon. However, fewer than 100 of those signatures were listed as Oshkosh residents. Mark Bye of Schofield, a friend of Kratsch's, created the petition.

The Petition has now been taken down. And it appears that Nugent is still going to play at the Waterfest in OshKosh.

BUT our friends at the Southern Poverty Law Center took a look at Nugent's schedule and requested comment from the Coeur d'Alene tribe in Idaho, leading to cancellation of his concert there:

From Hatewatch Blog, SPLC
Less than seven hours after being asked about the racist legacy of rock entertainer Ted Nugent, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe of American Indians this evening cancelled a scheduled performance next month by the controversial performer.
Tribal officials sounded completely caught off-guard earlier in the day when Hatewatch called and asked why the tribe – with a sterling record of combating hate and standing up for equal rights – had booked Nugent.
Heather Keen, the public relations director for the tribe, announced the decision that Nugent’s scheduled for Aug.4 was being abruptly cancelled.
“Nugent’s history of racist and hate-filled remarks was brought to Tribal Council’s attention earlier today” by the Southern Poverty Law Center, Keen said in a statement e-mailed to media outlets.

Of course Motormouth Nugent couldn't resist firing back:

I take it as a badge of honor that such unclean vermin are upset by me and my positive energy. Put your heart and soul into everything you do and nobody can stop you. Sometimes you give the world the best you got and you get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you got anyway."
By all indicators, I don't think they actually qualify as people, but there has always been a lunatic fringe of hateful, rotten, dishonest people that hate happy, successful people.
~ Ted Nugent, via the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal

Calling his critics "unclean vermin" surprisingly didn't help.

Via Ultimate Classic Rock
Following last week’s decision by an Idaho casino to cancel a Ted Nugent concert, another venue has done the same. The Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, WA has removed his Aug. 2-3 shows from their calendar.
“The first amendment gives people the right to free speech,” Lawrence W. LaPointe of the Puyallup Tribe, which runs the casino, said. “But I think racism is intolerable and not acceptable here. We’ve been getting lots of complaints from the community and other organizations. I don’t want to take away his right to say what he wants to say, but we don’t need it here.”
While neither of the two casinos that have severed their relationships with Nugent have offered proof of his racism, some have pointed to his reference to President Obama in January as a “subhuman mongrel” — a term loaded with racial implications — as evidence. Nugent apologized a month after making that remark.

Then he doubled down:

I call them unclean varmints, I’ve actually gone by them and I mean it, they’re hygiene-challenged, they actually stink, they’re dirty people, they’re unclean, they’re bused in to Connecticut and New Jersey and different places to protest a Ted Nugent concert but, Lars, they are so stoned or just brain dead, they actually wear their American Communist Party regalia, they’re not smart enough to take off their identification that they’re not really protesters, they’ve been paid and bussed in.
~ Ted Nugent, via Addicting Info

No one should be surprised by any of this," said Gary Bongiovanni, editor-in-chief of Pollstar USA, which tracks concert touring receipts. "It's a free country and Nugent has always had a big mouth. But if he keeps making incendiary statements his future tours may be limited to NRA conventions and Fox News events.
. . . While Nugent will perform at The Toledo Blade's Northwest Ohio Rib-Off festival next month, the paper's sales director told Media Matters he had received numerous complaints and strongly suggested Nugent would never be booked again
~ via Media Matters

But Nugent does have a few supporters left:

I also want to say that calling President Obama a “subhuman mongrel” does not make Ted Nugent a racist, as this kind of personal name-calling against a president of the United States is part of a long tradition of political slander that goes back to the founding of the Republic. Abraham Lincoln was called a baboon.
~ Alan Block, owner of the Toledo Blade Newspaper in Ohio, which is sponsoring a cook-out featuring Nugent

Gun-Nut Mom Jokes About Assassinating President Obama

 photo abfbae_edf91dd860534949b4247da7f479.jpg

The group "Moms Demand Action" and leader Shannon Watts have had success recently getting both restaurant chains as well as Target stores to ban people from Open Carry who want to scare people with assault weapons. Now there is a backlash group called "Moms With Guns Demand Action" started by a woman named Kathy L. Perkins.

Moms with Guns Demand Action

 photo MomsWithGuns.png

Obviously the founder of that group thinks Shannon Watts and anyone who wants to curb firearms is unpatriotic, while she is a "real 'Merican." Perkins enjoys parading around with a gun strapped to her back in front of Girl Scouts and talking about the 2nd Amendment. But this week she took her love of weapons and shooting a little too far - into the realm of murder, as in "assassination." On her Facebook, she joked about assassinating President Obama. And now Kathy Perkins is on everyone's radar, including (hopefully) the Secret Service, the FBI, and even the NSA, if they are paying attention.

As of tonight her Twitter account @MomsWithGuns has either been suspended or deleted, and so has the "Moms With Guns Demand Action" Facebook.
Another Facebook Group called simply Moms With Guns (the same name as Perkins' Twitter account, is denying that Perkins was ever a member, or that they have anything to do with her. In fact they refer to her as their "current parasite" because they are getting some flack from people who dislike Perkins.

About her flight from the Internets, via Liberaland
Ms. Kathy Perkins, founder of Moms With Guns Demand Action, who defiantly shared her thoughts on our twice-elected president by writing, “Where is an assasin when you need one?” [sic] and has called for an armed uprising, has magically disappeared. So, she either ran, or the black hovering helicopters she’s been hallucinating have actually gathered her crazy self up and hauled her in for questioning.
She wanted to “Take this country back by force” and now presumably, she’s run from the Internet.

There is still a cached copy of her Non-Apology Apology. In it Perkins mentions "CATI" - the group "Come and Take It Texas" - referring to the Greek phrase from King Leonidas of Sparata "Molon Labe" - "Come and Take My Weapons."
I am not a member of CATI (. Haven't been for a while. I apologize for my comment "where is an assassin when you need one?" and agree it was not something I should joke about.
I don't see Obama as my President but I respect the office and though on my personal page, I should have expected trolls to be trollin for garbage to spin. I am affiliated with no gun groups but my own and if I had any power Obama would be imprisoned for treason and brought before a court of his peers where Id hope for an appropriate judgement for the crime of treason.
My comment has been spun as a call for his assassination but it was not that. I invite the FBI or whoever to investigate me. I am guilty of nothing and have nothing to hide while the current occupant of the Oval Office is guilty of high treason and needs to attack housewives to distract people from his evil.
My regret is joking about his serious crimes against our country.
I will not read or respond to the comments by haters who love spin. Its regretful that CATI was attacked for a personal post on my personal page.
I wish CATI Godspeed and success and wish to say I am not associated with them nor was my comment. They are good people with good intentions. Im against behaving unwisely and will not joke on my personal page about serious issues our Nation faces any longer. I under estimated my enemy's love of spin and hatred for Americans who love our Constitution.
Carry On Patriots! If you get attacked, know its because you are doing something good. Our enemies are vile and ruthless and wait for any scrape of spin to use against us. Im glad they are watching though because this Armed Mom wont be scared off by lies and threats and spin.

Gov. Paul LePage of Maine and the Sovereign Citizens

The Tea Party keeps flirting with the dangerous Sovereign Citizen Movement, whose proponents believe that there is no Federal Government, and only local officials have jurisdiction over their lives. We saw this with Cliven Bundy, who said he would pay his back grazing fees to the local Sheriff but not to the Bureau of Land Management, and with two of Bundy's followers, the Millers, who killed two Las Vegas policemen in cold blood to "Start the Revolution."

And it's not just a Western or Southern movement - far from it! For the past year, the wingnut Governor of Maine, Paul LePage has had several meetings with the Sovereign Citizens in that state, and it is getting him into trouble. The problem is these groups never met a Conspiracy Theory they didn't like, and LePage seems to be a true believer.

In reality, these so-called "citizens" are a form of Anarchists who spread misinformation, fear, and distrust of Federal employees, police and elected officials. They love guns and want to be armed and dangerous - like Libertarians Gone Wild. To spread their philosophy, they are oh-so-happy to use gullible people like LePage who have managed to get into positions of power.

This information from Maine is only coming out thanks to Mike Tipping, author of As Maine Went: the story of Maine under Gov. Paul LePage.

From Huffington Post
(In) Mike Tipping's new book.... he details how LePage engaged with members of the Constitutional Coalition, which is affiliated with the Sovereign Citizen movement. Members of the organization believe the government is planning an attack on Christian Americans by collecting firearms, that it runs mind-control operations and that it was behind the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

You can read an excerpt of Tipping's book Here on Talking Points Memo.

Here he is appearing on All In with Chris Hayes @msnbc

As Tipping writes in his book, the first meeting LePage had with the Sovereign Citizens group "Aroostook Watchmen" in February 2013 was a doozy!

. . . the meeting that weekend covered a wide range of topics. The members of the Constitutional Coalition informed LePage that the United Nations and the Rockefellers were plotting to take over Maine’s North Woods. They discussed the illegitimacy of the U.S. Department of Education and argued that the state should refuse to accept federal education funding. (According to McCarthy, the governor “hung his head and said you’re right” in response.) They also informed LePage that U.S. paper currency is unlawful. (“He was mesmerized by that,” said McCarthy.)

Also at that meeting, there was apparently some talk of "hanging" a couple of Maine Democrats for "treason."

Via Maine Public Broadcasting Network
During the airing of a segment of the Aroostook Watchmen, a radio show broadcast on radio station WXME in February, an account of a meeting between Gov. Paul LePage and members of the Sovereign Citizens movement emerged in a conversation between show hosts Steve Martin and Jack McCarthy.
. . . Among those topics ...was their belief that Democratic Maine Senate President Justin Alfond and House Speaker Mark Eves should both be tried for treason.
"And we also discussed this there, that as far as I know, the penalty for high treason hasn't changed in a hundred years, and I didn't say it, but the governor said it - I never opened my mouth and said the word - the governor looked at us and looked at his buddy and said, 'They're talking about hanging them,' " McCarthy said.

"That's right," Martin responded.
"I said, Praise the Lord - we'll hang a few and be done with this crap,' " McCarthy said.

LePage denies any talk of killing Democratic politicians:

“We did not discuss execution, arrest or hanging.”
~ Via Politico

After a few more meetings, according to Tipping, the Aroostook Watchmen became more demanding, so that by the end of May they were asking Governor LePage to do their bidding in a big way, and adding an ultimatum if he doesn't comply:

Via Talking Points Memo
On May 29 the Constitutional Coalition members held a conference call with LePage and began to make some more specific requests of the governor. In a letter that Merletti sent to LePage before the meeting, the Sovereign Citizen leader asserted a constitutional right of Mainers to carry concealed weapons without a permit and asked that LePage stand up to the “anti-gun factions, supported by Socialist and Communist leaning defenders of the global left,” and bring an emergency bill to preserve this right. He also asked LePage to use the power of his office to “summon Sheriff Liberty” (Sheriff Randall Liberty serves Kennebec County, including Augusta, the state capital) to hear their complaints that the speaker of the house and president of the senate were committing treason. Sovereign Citizens believe that the only legitimate law enforcement officer is an elected sheriff.)
Merletti warned in his letter to LePage that if his group continued to be ignored by the legislature, “we will be left with the 1776 or 1865 option. In the pursuit of liberty there is no extremism.”

Make no mistake, these kooks are really domestic terrorists. Like the Millers in Las Vegas, they wouldn't mind starting a chaotic "Revolution" and trying to overthrow the government. The fact that a Governor would give them the time of day is disturbing. Even worse, in a New England state that is basically left-leaning, they are trapped with a gullible Governor who seems to agree with the Sovereign Citizens.

False Flag Nation

 photo 03b91f30-cda0-45a2-a660-6886251f596b.jpg

There's a Sheryl Crow song called "Every Day is a Winding Road" and that line pretty much sums up the twists and turns of conspiracy theorists. Nothing is ever what it seems. Truth is an illusion. Their favorite song should be "Everything is a False Flag," which means that for any given news story, it can be explained away as an event staged with actors to make a political point.

The "flag" in the name refers to Naval Warfare in which a ship will fly the flag of another country to sneak up on the enemy. Espionage groups all over the world allegedly "stage" false flag operations to confuse or cast doubt on other countries.

For a modern origin, False Flaggers point to something called "Operation Northwoods."

In the U.S., the biggest "Mother-of-All False Flag" conspiracy theory could be the idea that the Bush Administration "staged" the September 11 attack in 2001. Countless websites and books are devoted to the idea that George Bush himself gave the order to implode the Twin Towers, and that there never was a plane crash at the Pentagon. The 3000 victims were collateral damage in a bigger plan by Cheney and Rumsfeld to justify going back to Iraq to conquer the country, and steal their oil. Bush went along with it so he could finish what his father started with the first Gulf War by capturing Baghdad and killing Saddam Hussein. With a war already going in Afghanistan, America didn't want another war front, so to convince Congress the Bushies invented imaginary Weapons of Mass Destruction or WMDs that Saddam didn't actually have. That part of the story is true and confirmed by then-Sec. of State Colin Powell, which proves to False Flaggers that the rest of it must be true.

Others blame the "Zionist Conspiracy" - the idea that Israel set up 9-11 so that the U.S. would wage war on Muslims all over the world.

And of course, while Bush never captured Osama, his army did capture Baghdad and Saddam Hussein, and he managed to install the Patriot Act, a type of draconian law in which we are supposed to be afraid of our own shadows, see every Muslim as a terrorist, while the government remains an ally to Israel. To the false-flaggers, that partial truth means that EVERYTHING has to be true!

Even today you can find "9-11 Truthers" on Twitter:

These days false flag theories get their start on far-right radio with people like Alex Jones and Glenn Beck who are paranoid and think they see government propaganda black-operations going on every time something happens. The people who believe False Flag reports are known as "Truthers," which is sort of a take-off on "Birthers" - the anti-Obama crowd who believe that everything about his life is a manufactured lie, from his birth certificate to his college degree to the way he governs. These theories are fueled mostly by hatred and the GOP has used the ideas to fire up the base and view the President as "the other" - some exotic, un-American creature.

The False Flag meme blames everything on Obama, even horrible school shootings, terrorism, and bad weather. The nutters believe that Obama is creating a false reality to frighten people into passing his programs, such as gun control and climate change. And sometimes, as with Obamacare, the GOP fought against it so long, they are just in denial about how successful it is. Oh, and also Benghazzzziii!!!

For instance, read these previous posts:

The Boston Marathon Bombing = False Flag
Success of Obamacare is a Lying False Flag
Obama has a Tornado Machine
Obama lied about Benghazi Emails

Here's a compilation of Alex Jones on The Boston Bombing:

The most recent spate of False Flaggers are sympathizers with the National Rifle Association. You could say they have a persecution complex, believing that Obama is still going to grab their guns, even though he hasn't made one move to do it in almost seven years. These gun-lovers were behind the theory that the Newtown/Sandy Hook Elementary shooting was a staged event to drum up gun control support - and of course they blame Obama:
The Sandy Hook Truthers - Shooting was Staged with "Crisis Actors"

Recently a Sandy Hook Truther got into trouble for continuing to harass the parents of a victim, even stealing a sign that had been erected at a playground to honor the child. The man was hunted down and caught by police after he sent pictures of the sign to the blog The Daily Banter. Kudos to Bob Cesca and Chez Pazienza for helping to catch this creepy guy!

Chez Pazienza on The Daily Banter
Police have told us that The Daily Banter‘s reporting on the story was instrumental in catching 28-year-old Andrew David Truelove and bringing the case to a close.

As we reported here last week, someone claiming to have stolen the signs contacted me and e-mailed pictures of the missing panels, boasting that he had taken them and then called the families of both McDonnell and Kowalski to taunt them by saying that their children had never actually existed and the Sandy Hook massacre was nothing but a hoax. I passed along all the information this person had sent me to the police department in Stonington, Conn., which was working the case. I’ve been in contact with detectives there several times since.

It turns out the photos that we received were loaded with metadata, including geotags, which led Stonington to contact Herndon, where many of the pictures were apparently taken. Police there tracked the geotags to the home seen in the photos we posted last week, which was actually a small unit rented by someone named Alan J. Truelove. They obtained a warrant and this morning arrested Truelove, the father of the man suspected of being the actual sign thief, Andrew David Truelove. While the elder Truelove hasn’t been charged with anything yet, since he denies knowing the signs in his home were stolen, while being questioned he apparently asked the police how they could be sure the Sandy Hook shooting had really happened. So, yes, it looks like he’s a Sandy Hook truther just like his son.

The NRA crowd seems to be coming up with a new False Flag theory a day:

Some of them believe Elliot Rodger, the Isla Vista California shooter who documented at length his own plans to kill women who wouldn't sleep with him, was just a cog in the wheel of Obama's Gun Control Plan:

A gun found at Target in the children's department was put there by the Gun Control group Moms Demand Action to cause an incident so the #NRA will back down on allowing Open Carry in their stores. Yeah, that makes sense - NOT.

A shooting at the Forsyth Georgia County Courthouse was staged to slam both gun lovers and "Sovereign Citizens" - a type of Libertarian who believes the federal government has no jurisdiction, such as Cliven Bundy.

And finally, here's one in Canada - the New Brunswick shooting of three Mounties:

#OpenCarry Storms the Home Depot

 photo home-depot_12012010200531.jpg

In the past few weeks the gun nuts have been parading around intimidating families at fast food restaurants thanks to the group Open Carry. This led to a pushback campaign from Shannon Watts and the gun control advocacy group Moms Demand Action which lobbied restaurants with hashtags #ShakesNotShotguns, #RibsNotRifles and #GrillsNotGuns. The corporations responded quickly by banning guns in the restaurants - common sense prevailed.

Even the freakin' NRA issued a statement against Open Carry Texas:

Via Talking Points Memo
"[W]hile unlicensed open carry of long guns is also typically legal in most places, it is a rare sight to see someone sidle up next to you in line for lunch with a 7.62 rifle slung across his chest, much less a whole gaggle of folks descending on the same public venue with similar arms," the statement said. "Let's not mince words, not only is it rare, it's downright weird and certainly not a practical way to go normally about your business while being prepared to defend yourself. To those who are not acquainted with the dubious practice of using public displays of firearms as a means to draw attention to oneself or one's cause, it can be downright scary. It makes folks who might normally be perfectly open-minded about firearms feel uncomfortable and question the motives of pro-gun advocates."

The NRA made clear it "does not support bans on personalized guns or on carrying firearms in public, including in restaurants. " But it concluded that "when people act without thinking, or without consideration for others – especially when it comes to firearms – they set the stage for further restrictions on our rights."

But rare common sense from NRA didn't stop Open Carry, whose members stormed a Home Depot in Dallas this weekend.

And a new hashtag was born on Twitter - #Ammosexuals - men who get off on guns and ammo and can't live without them - like the guys in the pictures below. The term was coined by Raw Story:
Never mind the bullets, here’s the ammosexuals
...It’s getting so that a man can’t assert his manly manliness without a bunch of shrieking harpies hashtag-shaming him on Twitter, which is can be very hurtful.
. . . Some men, however, are not going to sit weeping in a darkened room, drinking ranch dressing straight from the bottle while listening to ‘I Am, I Said‘ on repeat. They’re not going to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous LOLing at them without going down in a fight.
And by ‘fight,’ I mean, parading around with their guns hanging out.
And by ‘guns,’ I mean their guns.
So that is why we have ‘open carry’ days where groups of men trade in their week-day uniform of polyester pants and 3 for $12 dress shirts with matching ties from Walmart, for easy-fit jeans, a t-shirt that used to fit, and a backward-facing ball-cap before heading out a to fast food place to walk around carrying a gun in the noonday sun because …. freedom.

From the Dallas News
Saturday’s rally began in the parking lot of a Home Depot. Corporate spokesman Stephen Holmes said that while Home Depot allows customers to carry legally permitted weapons into its stores, “we do not allow solicitation or organizing by third parties on our property.”
The Open Carry supporters were not asked to move on Saturday. But should they return for another rally, Holmes said, “we’ll remind them of that policy.”

. . . The gathering Saturday generated dozens of critical comments on Home Depot’s Facebook site.
In one typical post, a woman from Dallas wrote, “Since we can’t know when this fanatical anti-woman, death-celebrating-culture group will snap, we’ll be going to Lowe’s from now on.”

Amy Hedtke of Whitesboro wasn’t worried about anyone snapping. She brought four children and two dogs to the rally.
“I’m anti-gun-free zone,” she said. “I’m a huge supporter of the right to self-defense.”
She joined group members at the intersection of Precinct Line Road and Mid-Cities Boulevard. There they waved flags that said “Come And Take It” and passed out Open Carry cards. Many drivers responded with horn-honking support.
Afterward, the group returned to the Home Depot lot, where a raffle was held. Among the prizes: T-shirts and boxes of ammunition.

Here are just a few of the thousands of angry comments left on this Home Depot's Facebook:

I gave Home Depot 20 years of business. Lowes will now get the next 20 years of my business considering the idiotic policy HD has allowed an armed group of socially deficient angry people to roam your aisles. What will you do when one of them sticks a product in his pocket and walks? Think any of your "security " people will do anything? Beyond stupid is this decision by whoever thought it would make people happy.
~ Don S.

I won't shop anywhere that terrorists are allowed, that's stupid. These people are bullying the majority who want better gun laws, and they're bullying with weapons. That's terrorism. They won't win. Don't be on the wrong side of history. We won't forget.
~ Sandy T.

If the open carry event, which now includes a GUN GIVEAWAY, happens. I will never again shop at Home Depot. There are plenty of options out there. Lowes, Ace, Orchard. Anything but supporting a company that bends to the will of a small minority of extremists that value their killing machines over the lives of human beings.
~ Brian C.

I own a ranch. We'll take our business elsewhere.
If you want to make Home Depot look like a banana republic, that's your business.
But I don't want to shop where I can't tell the difference between someone on his Open Carry day and someone else who is going postal.
~ Lloyd S.

I live in Texas...and for most of my life have lived in the DFW area where this store is located. The MAJORITY of Texans (including the ones in the DFW area) do NOT approve of open carry events..we only approve of being allowed to own guns. As other places in Texas have discovered (Starbucks, Chipotle's, Sonic, etc) most Texans do NOT approve and we vote with out wallets. BTW, most of these open carry nuts are not gardening and buying lots of items from Home Depot in the first place. As to your comment that this is tantamount to them watching someone get punched, not actually doing the punching, I think that watching and not stopping it is JUST as bad as doing it!!!!
~ Lisa M.

How dare Home Depot allow a group of crazed ammosexual gunners be allowed to rally at one of your stores. Time to find a new place to shop until your policy changes!!!
~ Lonnie L.

hey, be brave, open carry guys. Try it at a bank. A country club where GOP officials hang out. How about NRA headquarters? They won't let you open carry there, and we all know why. They don't trust you. Gun show? The organizers do not trust you enough to bring in your loaded gun. I believe them. It's not safe and you do, as the woman in the Texas sonic pointed out, look like total dumbasses. And scaredy-cats. I'll shop where the non-afraid shop.

Now that the FBI is investigating the Bundy Ranch crowd, there's a whole lotta screaming denial and rationalization going on. "It's not us, it's them! Our guns weren't pointed at anybody - that was the BLM! Snipers? What snipers? Well, the BLM had guns too, neener, neener!"

Okey-dokey, let's just see how that excuse works in court when YouTube has hours of video with pictures of the self-professed Militia members. Not to mention all the talk on Twitter, Facebook, Message Boards, and other social media about what was happening at Bundy Ranch. There's a record all over the internet.

"Why the Gun? Because they have guns."

From Talking Points Memo
Las Vegas TV station KLAS reported Thursday that the FBI has begun interviewing Clark County sheriff's officials in what the news station describes as a "formal investigation into alleged death threats, intimidation and possible weapons violations" on the part of the Bundy militia.
Sheriff Doug Gillespie confirmed to KLAS that FBI agents asked him whether he saw Bundy supporters point guns at metro police officers during last month's showdown, but declined to share what he told the agents.

KLAS News - Las Vegas, Nevada
FBI agents also spoke to an entire squad of Metro officers, who were on the scene to act as a buffer between the crowd and the BLM. Bundy supporters have insisted in emails and calls to 8 News NOW that no one in the crowd pointed weapons at BLM or Metro, but officers told the I-Team that is exactly what they saw, that many with guns set up behind women and children.

"It is not a rumor. When we first got out there and made a left to divide I-15, that is all you saw. You saw kids and women and horses in the backdrop and then men with guns, laying on the ground, in the back of pickup trucks. We're going, 'wow, this would never happen in Las Vegas,' But it was there. That is not a rumor. It is reality and I saw it with my own eyes," Metro Police Sgt. Tom Jenkins said.
Sgt. Jenkins has been interviewed by the FBI. A second squad is expected to be interviewed by week's end. The bureau does not confirm or deny the existence of any investigation but the I-Team have confirmed from multiple sources that a criminal investigation is underway.

I see. The King’s Men can point machine guns at the peasants all day long, but WOE BETIDE a peasant who points a gun at a King’s Man...

I've wondered if this guy was a plant. From other photos you can see that he has an unscoped AK and is, what? 400+ yds from the feds and would be shooting over friendlies? Unless he's experienced shooting that rifle with open sights at that distance and angle he could dropping rounds right amongst the good guys.
Also from other photos it appeared that he was the only militia up there with a bunch of sightseers.

He’s pointing a paintball gun, that’s weird.
~ Bulwyf on Free Republic

I watched the live feed for the entire 8 hours it unfolded. The Feds were the ones pointing guns. I never saw the protesters aiming guns at the Feds at any time.

FBI are domestic terrorists. Shoot first and worry later! Remember folks this is the same agency that bombed Boston to bring in a beta version of Martial Law!

People had their weapons pointed at the crooks, they were stealing/killing cattle, taking their land, using force against unarmed civilians, intimidation and these crooks were armed and pointing their weapons at these civilians. Once this happened our American Patriots ran to the call. What else would you expect free Americans to do, guess what feds..we fear for our life everyday because of the federal government, now we have the right to destroy you? Thank you, happy hunting
~ AE on InfoWars

They are not pointing at them... Just looking through their scopes to identify the agents.

It was self defense. The people of Clark County need to replace that candy-assed sheriff.

It was reported at the time that the feds physically assaulted Bundy's peaceful supporters; abused and frightened Bundy's cattle and caused the terrified cattle to die.
A lot of people were genuinely frightened that the feds were going to shoot to death Bundy's supporters. Thank God they weren't. It was a very scary time.

This is ridiculous. The fbi are just trying to get someone to fire the first shot. The government is looking away to declare martial law. They just want a reason to lock down the country and take away our guns.
~ Allen R. on World Net Daily

Guns were pointed at the citizens. They should be investigated! This is not going to end well for Reid and the FBI! God Bless the Bundy's!

Alex Jones said in a video a few days ago the following. "If you are questioned by the FBI, you're ending up dead more and more in their custody". I'm going to believe him on this one. The FBI are trying to silence the people, there is no crime against pointing a gun at someone, there is a crime against firing a gun against someone (situation based). The argument the BLM is using is the exact same argument that Bundy's supporters can, and will, use against them. You had 200 heavily armed BLM threatening murder to people who protested out of "free speech zones", sicced attack dogs on them, tazed people, and you wanna claim the victim, BLM? FBI, don't do this. It will not end well for anyone.
~ ancient18 on World Net Daily

THe photos I saw, yes the protesters were on an overpass with weapons pointed at the Govt. goons, who were pointing their guns at hundreds of Bundy supporters. I think the supporters had no choice as the Govt. goons had been there for days, tazing people, herding them into areas like cattle etc. I beleive the Govt. is not done with the Bundy's. THey are waiting for things to die down, then will sweep in and do what who knows. THey will not just drop this. They fail to realize the American people are not going to let it drop and won't put up with this COMMIE control'
