Chris Christie is Obama's New BFF - and GOP Freaks Out - UPDATED

Photobucket

“I have no idea, nor am I the least bit concerned or interested. I’ve got a job to do here in New Jersey that’s much bigger than Presidential politics and I could care less about any of that stuff… if you think right now I give a damn about presidential politics then you don’t know me.”
~ Gov. Chris Christie on Fox and Friends

“I spoke to the president three time yesterday. He called me for the last time at midnight last night, asking what he could do. I said if he could expedite designating New Jersey as a major disaster area that that would help us get federal money and resources in here as quickly as possible to clean up the damage here. President was great last night. He said he would get it done. At 2 a.m., I got a call from FEMA to answer a couple final questions and then he signed the declaration this morning. So I have to give president great credit. He has been on the phone with three times in the last 24 hours. He has been attentive and anything I have asked for, he has gotten to me. So I thank the president publicly for that, he has done, as far as I am concerned, a great job for Jersey.”
~ Gov. Chris Christie also on Fox

You saw that too? While kissing Obama’s behind, Christie was able to kick Romney in the face at the same time. I am still fuming.

I wish I could find a reason to defend him. I suppose it has to do with money for NJ. But when he praised Hussein to high heaven this morning I wanted to scream (and cry).
~ comment by Enquiring Mind on Free Republic

If the media decides to go all-out turning Obama into a majestic hurricane hero (regardless of any concrete actions or facts) in these next few pre-election days, Christie handing them this wildly “over-the-top” praise to springboard their pro-Obama propaganda isn’t going to wear too well. If the election is close, this kind of unwarranted lifeline can tilt things Obama’s way.
~ comment by greene66 on Free Republic

I think Christie is in the process of “John Roberts-ing” us.
We’ll know for sure tomorrow after the cameras follow him and the Kenyan around the damage sites and then he is asked to comment on it.

UPDATE: Limbaugh Kicks In

Limbaugh Transcript October 31, 2012

RUSH: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has decided to play the role of a Greek column today for President Obama. Obama and Chris Christie will tour the Jersey shore. Who lives on the shoreline, Snerdley? That's exactly right. The one percent live on the beach. It isn't cheap, Rachel. I don't know if you know this or not. It isn't cheap to live on the beach anywhere. Well, there are a couple places, but, I mean, for the most part.

President Obama and the Greek column, Chris Christie, will be walking the coastline, viewing properties owned by the one-percenters, to whom Barack Obama has said, "You didn't build that. You didn't make that happen."

Photobucket

. . . The election isn't gonna be moved. It's gonna happen Tuesday. Of course, the opposite theory is, “What the hell is Christie doing? He's giving Obama a chance to look presidential, clean up a state, look competent, look like he cares and so forth. What's a Republican doing propping up Obama?” That's the other take on this. (interruption) How long before who gets fed up? (interruption) Well, Snerdley's asking how long before New Yorkers get fed up with how long it's gonna take to restore things.

. . . RUSH: The Drive-By Media. The Drive-By Media got some love for Chris Christie. They are loving them some Chris Christie today. Chris Christie is saving Obama. Now, one thing: We know that Obama called Bloomberg, the mayor of New York. And Doomberg said, “No, don't come.” Now, therefore we know that Obama was making phone calls. So is it possible...” I'm just throwing it out there.

Is it possible that Obama called Christie and said, “You want some money? You want some? You better let me come. Doomberg already said, I can't come.” So what if Obama called and wants to come, and made money contingent on it? Christie wouldn't reveal that. I’m trying to be charitable here, folks. I’m trying to be charitable.

There are obvious other explanations. Christie doesn't want to wait 'til 2020 to run for president. There are any number of things that could be going on here. Let's listen to what the Drive-Bys think. This is yesterday, last night, and this morning. It’s a montage of various Drive-Byers grasping at straws, suggesting here that The Messiah needs Chris Christie to save his bacon...

Ann Coulter Defends "Retard" Slur

CoulterHate

Ann Coulter's Tweet about the 3rd Presidential Debate, October 22, 2012

And . . .

Typical Twitter Response:

And from Special Olympics Participant Tom Shriver:
Dear Ann Coulter,

Come on Ms. Coulter, you aren’t dumb and you aren’t shallow. So why are you continually using a word like the R-word as an insult?

I’m a 30 year old man with Down syndrome who has struggled with the public’s perception that an intellectual disability means that I am dumb and shallow. I am not either of those things, but I do process information more slowly than the rest of you. In fact it has taken me all day to figure out how to respond to your use of the R-word last night.

I thought first of asking whether you meant to describe the President as someone who was bullied as a child by people like you, but rose above it to find a way to succeed in life as many of my fellow Special Olympians have.

Then I wondered if you meant to describe him as someone who has to struggle to be thoughtful about everything he says, as everyone else races from one snarkey sound bite to the next.

Finally, I wondered if you meant to degrade him as someone who is likely to receive bad health care, live in low grade housing with very little income and still manages to see life as a wonderful gift.

Because, Ms. Coulter, that is who we are – and much, much more.

After I saw your tweet, I realized you just wanted to belittle the President by linking him to people like me. You assumed that people would understand and accept that being linked to someone like me is an insult and you assumed you could get away with it and still appear on TV.

I have to wonder if you considered other hateful words but recoiled from the backlash.

Well, Ms. Coulter, you, and society, need to learn that being compared to people like me should be considered a badge of honor.

No one overcomes more than we do and still loves life so much.

Come join us someday at Special Olympics. See if you can walk away with your heart unchanged.

A friend you haven’t made yet,
John Franklin Stephens
Global Messenger
Special Olympics Virginia

And now, Ann Coulter's Defense, via Alan Colmes Radio Show:
Colmes: What was the deal with that tweet people are talking about?

Coulter: (Laughing)

Colmes: In this tweet which you sent out during the debate on Monday--

Coulter: No, immediately afterwards--

Colmes: (Reads tweet)

Coulter: Yes.

Colmes: You regret that?

Coulter: (Laughs) Do you regret asking me if I regret that? No, of course I don't. Um, my one regret is that I'm not at this moment promoting my book "Guilty," subtitle, "Liberal Victims and their Attack on America." Liberal victims are the biggest bullies of all.

Look, no one would refer to a Down's Syndrome child as, someone with an actual mental handicap, by saying ‘retard.’ Where do you think the words ‘imbecile,’ ‘idiot,’ ‘moron,’ ‘cretin’ come from? These were all technical terms at one time. ‘Retard’ had been used colloquially to just mean ‘loser’ for 30 years. But no, no — these aggressive victims have to come out and tell you what words to use.

Colmes: You may think that it's liberal totalitarianism that is dictating that you can't say that word, but John Franklin Stephens, who is a member of the Special Olympics, he's an athlete, he's an adult who has Down's Syndrome, says he has invited you to join him to see the Special Olympics. He says you're a friend he hasn't made yet, but he hopes he can, and he says that you should understand that life is a wonderful gift and that--

Coulter: I do not need to be told this! I was not making a joke about Special Olympics, the way our President did, by the way. It would be one thing if I said in my tweet a joke about Special Olympics, a joke about Down's Syndrome. No one would call someone with Down Syndrome 'retard'!

Colmes: Well, this person--

Coulter: I call you retard!

Colmes: Well, the word 'retard' is offensive and this guy along--

Coulter: No-No! No, no, no, no...

Colmes: And in fact the Special--

Coulter: You just can't go around announcing that this and that word is offensive. I'm sick of this.

Colmes: I'm, I'm... telling you that people are offended by it.

Coulter: Because liberal victims are bullies, and I--

Colmes: It's not just liberals--

Coulter: You don't tell people what words they can use. I'm not fond of vulgarities, but this attack of the victims. Biggest bullies of all. There's nothing offensive about the word 'retard' applied to the President. It has nothing to do with a mental handicap. It was calling the President a loser.

Colmes: This is not a left-right issue.

Coulter: Yes it is.

Colmes: This is not a liberal versus conservative issue. A rep for the Special Olympics told TMZ 'We're disappointed in your regular use of the word despite our constituents regular appeals to her, meaning you, for compassion.

Coulter: And are they proposing I use 'cretin' instead?

Colmes: They aren't proposing what you should use. They say they will give an open invitation, meaning you, to be invited to an educational meeting . . .

Coulter: How about, as long as they are going to be the word police, I want to know if I can use 'moron,' 'idiot,' 'cretin,' and 'imbecile.' Because it really doesn't make much sense unless they are thoroughly authoritarian and arbitrary. And which words are in and which words are out?

Colmes: You know that some words have meanings and some of them sting. Like certain words for African-Americans.

Coulter: You're not supposed to 'sting' the President. (laughs)

Colmes: You wrote a book on race. You know that thee are certain words that are not to be used for African-Americans...

Coulter: Oooohhhh! This! Now we're gettin' to my book!

Colmes: Yeah.

Coulter: This is what drives me crazy, when all . . .

Colmes: You wouldn't use the 'N-word' to refer to African-Americans?

Coulter: Ahhhh! That's just what I was going to say but you beat me to the punch! Every time--

Colmes: Would you? Would you?

Coulter: I'm answering now. Don't keep saying would you, would you. Every time the Liberals start being the word police, they always say 'you wouldn't use the n-word, would you?' No, the N-word is in its own category. I have a whole chapter on it in my current book, 'Mugged: Liberal Demagoguery from the 70s to Obama."

No, you're not black. That's what I should have called my book "Guilty" - "You're. Not. Black." If you were not held in slavery, if you were not brought here as slaves, held as slaves for hundreds of years, discriminated against by democratic policies of Jim Crow - NO, you can't go around policing what people say.

Colmes: But . . . But . . .

Coulter: You're not Black. Feminists aren't black.

Colmes: But what about people with disabilities who don't like it when you use the 'R-word,' who say--

Coulter: NO!

Colmes: It’s okay for blacks [you claim] to say “You can’t use the N word,”How about people with disabilities who say, “You can’t use the R word?”

Coulter: I would not use any word that was unkind to describe someone who has an actual handicap, mental or physical. I would not do that.

Colmes: But that ‘s what they feel you did.

Coulter: Oh, screw them! That’s what they feel I do. I feel they’re being authoritarian bullying victims.”

Ann Coulter isn’t really that ignorant, she just thinks she’s protecting her unapologetic “brand.”
Coulter knows better . . . and is really only burnishing her “edgy” reputation at this point. As a PR move, this looks like a miscalculation, but it is her career, and she’s the one who is going to miss it the most. Alan is absolutely right that this is not a right/left issue, and if it ever was, it ceased being one when former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin rose to prominence, and raised awareness among conservatives about special needs children, and among liberals about ableism. Coulter is miscalculating if she thinks conservatives will simply close their ears to this.
As such, it’s hard to care whether Coulter ever apologizes . . .

Interview with Piers Morgan on CNN, Friday, Oct. 26, 2012
MORGAN: Why call the president of the United States a retard?
COULTER: Because it's a synonym for loser. We were spending 10 seconds on this or it's going to be another two years before I come on.
MORGAN: Wow, you're threatening me.
COULTER: I'm angry at the word police. I need an encyclopedia Britannica to see which words are appropriate and which aren't.
MORGAN: No, you don't.
COULTER: OK, explain to me why retard is inappropriate.
MORGAN: Because I heard this morning say, what if I said imbecile, idiot, cretin or moron.
COULTER: That was two nights ago.
MORGAN: Right. Whenever.
Any of those words, as you know, has not become in the last decade or so a word that is synonymously offensive to people with disability, and is used in an offensive way about them by people. That is a difference.
COULTER: Do you call people with mental disabilities retards, because I don't. I think that's a nasty thing to do.
MORGAN: A lot of people do, to be offensive. Yes.
COULTER: No, they don't.
MORGAN: They do and you know that.
COULTER: They absolutely do not. And you know they do not.
MORGAN: Of course, you do.
COULTER: No one would call a Down syndrome child a retard. It is synonymous with loser. You know perfectly well --
MORGAN: That's complete nonsense.
Wait a minute. Wait a minute. That's complete nonsense. That's the whole point. The whole point, if you talked to people who worked with Down syndrome children or whatever, they would all tell you --
COULTER: You keep saying this is offensive and you're just wasting time because we only have 10 more seconds on this and we're getting to the next topic.
MORGAN: Says who?
COULTER: OK, it's offensive and you're going to come up with 20 different ways to tell me it's offensive. It's offensive according to whom? Moron, idiot, cretin, imbecile. These were exactly like retard, once technical term to describe people with mental disabilities. Changing the word doesn't change the condition.
I was not referring to someone with Down syndrome. I was referring to the president of the United States.
MORGAN: I know that.
(break)
MORGAN: You called me in the break a sexist misogynist pig.
COULTER: Yes.
MORGAN: Can you explain why? What have I said that's been remotely sexist?
COULTER: Calm down. Oh, it is the conservative --
MORGAN: You were hyperventilating.
COULTER: I'm not hyperventilating. I'm disagreeing with you, which apparently is insulting your teeny tiny male ego. It is the most insulting, condescending, sexist thing to say to a female, generally conservative, who disagrees with you, no, it's my obligation to back down and accept your point. And if I don't, you're not being calm.
MORGAN: I have never heard you back down or apologize for anything. I think when you call the president of the United States a retard --
COULTER: We have moved on from that.
MORGAN: Final point on it. A little part in your brain cell should go off and say you know what, Ann, I just overstepped the mark.
COULTER: OK. Explain to me what -- why that is different, again, from cretin, moron, idiot.
MORGAN: For the same reason that the "N" word has become completely unacceptable, because of the offense it causes to the black community.

(CROSS TALK)
MORGAN: Let me finish my sentence.
COULTER: You can't just say everything is the "N" word.
MORGAN: Let me finish my sentence.
COULTER: Oh, calm down. Calm down.
MORGAN: I would argue the word retard has become equally -- has become equally unacceptable to people with disabilities in America, because it is the one word of all those words -- and I got them all out from the dictionary. It's the one word that has been used for the last decade or so -- yes, it has. You're so wrong.
COULTER: No, it isn't. You can't just go around -- it isn't a better argument to say oh, and broad, that's like using the "N" word, and the illegal immigrant, that's like using the "N" word. And gay, that's like using the "N" word. All you're doing is making a different argument for the same argument.
MORGAN: I have used the argument once.
COULTER: We will tell you which words you can and which words you can't use. Making a joke about Special Olympics is making a joke about something that actually exists. That is what President Obama did. I would not have done that. I would not make a joke about a Down Syndrome child.
Retard is the same as idiot, cretin, moron. It means loser. That's what it's meant for 30 years. And the word police come in five minutes ago and say no, we're going to be bossy and tell you what to do. They're the biggest bullies of all, these self-appointed victims.
MORGAN: My God. You are calling other people bossy. I've heard it all. Let's turn back to "Mugged," your book.
COULTER: Excellent.

Shuckin' & Jivin' at the Racist Righties Club

Photobucket

Obama's Shuck and Jive Ends With Benghazi Lies
Why the lies? Why the cover up? Why the dissembling about the cause of the murder of our ambassador on the anniversary of the worst terrorist attacks on American soil? We deserve answers to this. President Obama’s shuck and jive shtick with these Benghazi lies must end
~ From a post on Sarah Palin's Facebook

And Palin's Explanation the following day:
For the record, there was nothing remotely racist in my use of the phrase "shuck and jive" – a phrase which many people have used, including Chris Matthews, Andrew Cuomo, and White House Press Secretary Jay Carney to name a few off the top of my head. In fact, Andrew Cuomo also used the phrase in reference to Barack Obama, and the fact that Mr. Cuomo and I used the phrase in relation to President Obama signifies nothing out of the ordinary. I would have used the exact same expression if I had been writing about President Carter, whose foreign policy rivaled Obama’s in its ineptitude, or about the Nixon administration, which was also famously rocked by a cover-up.

I’ve been known to use the phrase most often when chastising my daughter Piper to stop procrastinating and do her homework. As she is part Yup’ik Eskimo, I’m not sure if this term would be deemed offensive when it’s directed at her or if it would be considered benign as in the case of Chris Matthews’ use of it in reference to Rachel Maddow. Just to be careful, from now on I’ll avoid using it with Piper, and I would appreciate it if the media refrained from using words and phrases like igloo, Eskimo Pie, and “when hell freezes over,” as they might be considered offensive by my extended Alaska Native family.

The outrageously outraged reaction to this expression from perennial hypocrites like Chris Matthews has only made me laugh. Mr. Matthews, let me share with you my favorite Irish toast: “May we always be happy, and may our enemies always know it.”

- Sarah Palin

Wait - did Chris Matthews call Rachel Maddow an Eskimo Pie? I'm confused.
~ comment by Estproph on Wonkette

From the Right-Wing site Newsbusters
On July 7, 2010, Chris Matthews, while talking to Rachel Maddow about her visit to Afghanistan, wondered, "What has it been like, as you shuck and jive, hang out with the men over there, the women over there, in uniform risking their lives every day?" The late Tim Russert also used the term on July 18, 2003.
In 2008, then-New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said of Barack Obama: "You can't shuck and jive at a press conference." Steve McMahon, a Hardball regular, talked to then-MSNBC host Tucker Carlson and demurred, "Well, that's not the way I would have put it."
On September 7, 2011, Jay Carney, a spokesman for Matthews' beloved Obama, told the press corps, "Sorry. I'm going to shuck and jive! Time to shuck and jive."

A dog whistle is a dog whistle . . . A trumpet call is another.
Shuck and jive has a particular ethnic connection, not necessarily bad in all cases. It`s sort of -- it`s slang. It doesn`t mean evil.. . . But to throw it at the president as an ethnic shot is pretty blatant.
. . . Trump says the president is -- quote -- "monkeying with the unemployment numbers."
It just keeps going on over and over again, just enough to keep it in the atmosphere, to the point where today only two in five Republicans in the state of Ohio, only two in five agree that the president was born in this country.
It does work. It bleeds into people. They hear it enough from enough people and they go, well, there must be something there, and they do it and it works, it`s terrible stuff.
~ Chris Matthews on Hardball

Well, for knowledge people, it has roots back in plantation days, actually, when slaves during the shucking of the corn would jive each other around just to pass the time.
~ Clarence Page on Hardball

I think this is rank racism. Sometimes, people on the right get very upset when people on the left charge racism, but shuck and jive, that`s like talking about watermelon or, for Jews, talking about Jews are greedy, or the Irish or drunk, or whatever. This -- these are racist tropes. And we need to call them what they are. And I actually think, at least implicitly, Trump was playing on racism today with his ridiculous stunt demanding Obama`s college transcripts. What`s the subtext of it?
. . . He`s basically saying Barack Obama was too stupid to be at Columbia because he was an affirmative action student, and therefore because he was affirmative action, he must not have had good enough grades to stay in college, or whatever he`s talking about. It`s racist. Let`s get serious about this.
~ Jonathan Alter on Hardball

Story from CNN
Piers Morgan: "Colin Powell has decided to opt for President Obama again, despite apparently still being a Republican. Is it time he left the party?"

John Sununu: "I'm not sure how important that is. Frankly, when you take a look at Colin Powell, you have to wonder if that's an endorsement based on issues, or whether he's got a slightly different reason for preferring President Obama?"

Piers Morgan: What reason would that be?

John Sununu: "Well, I think when you have somebody of your own race that you're proud of being President of the United States, I applaud Colin for standing with him."

Via Huffington Post
UPDATE: Hours after the CNN interview, John Sununu issued a statement about his earlier comments, Politico reported.

"Colin Powell is a friend and I respect the endorsement decision he made and I do not doubt that it was based on anything but his support of the president’s policies. Piers Morgan’s question was whether Colin Powell should leave the party, and I don’t think he should," Sununu said.

Barbarian Mourdock of Indiana Calls Rape a "Gift from God"

RichardMourdock1

I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize life is that gift from God, and I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.
~ Indiana Republican Candidate Richard Mourdock

The words "gift" and "rape" do not often occur in the same sentence, especially in the final days of a Senate campaign.
~ Adam Clark Estes on Atlantic Wire

Gov. Romney disagrees with Richard Mourdock's comments, and they do not reflect his views. We disagree on the policy regarding exceptions for rape and incest but still support him.
~ Romney spokesperson Andrea Saul

Photobucket

This fall, I'm supporting Richard Mourdock for Senate. As state treasurer, Richard worked with Gov. Daniels to balance the budget, and make government more accountable. As senator, Richard will be the 51st vote to repeal and replace government-run healthcare. Richard will help stop the liberal Reid-Pelosi agenda. With so much at stake, I hope you'll join me in supporting Richard Mourdock for U.S. Senate.
~ Mitt Romney in Campaign Ad for Richard Mourdock

The President felt those comments were outrageous and demeaning to women. This is a reminder that a Republican Congress working with a Republican president, Mitt Romney, would feel that women should not be able to make choices about their own health care. And this is an issue where Mitt Romney is starring in an ad for this senator. And it is perplexing that he wouldn't demand to have that ad taken down.
~ Jen Psaki, Obama's traveling press secretary, via CBS News

FEC filings reveal that Paul Ryan's Prosperity PAC made a payment of $5,000 on June 26 to Richard Mourdock.
~ Buzzfeed

Mourdock has received tens of thousands of dollars more from other lawmakers' leadership PACs. Mourdock backers include Sens. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), John Barasso (R-Wyo.), Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), and Rob Portman (R-Ohio), who is a top Romney campaign adviser.
~ Mother Jones

God creates life, and that was my point. God does not want rape, and by no means was I suggesting that He does. Rape is a horrible thing, and for anyone to twist my words otherwise is absurd and sick.
Mourdock explaining his original comment on WTHR News, Indianapolis

I think rape is a heinous and violent crime in every instance. The God I believe in, and the God I know most Hoosiers believe in, does not intend for rape to happen--ever. What Mr. Mourdock said is shocking, and it is stunning that he would be so disrespectful to survivors of rape.
~ retort by Democratic Candidate and Mourdock's opponent, Joe Donnelly of Indiana

I strongly disagree with the statement made by Richard Mourdock during last night's Senate debate. I urge him to apologize.
~ Republican Congressman Mike Pence, running for Gov. of Indiana

Women of American out there, beware. There's a crowd out there that doesn't believe in you. You go through the terror of rape for example and they question your word. They say 'you better have that baby or you're goin' to jail.' Check the Republican platform that came out of Tampa. 14th Amendment rights to the fertilized egg. What about the woman's rights you might ask. Personhood for the unborn, from conception. What about the woman's right to control her personhood? And the attacks continue.
Now a close Romney ally in Indiana has put out word he would criminalize abortion even if the woman was raped. For more than a year we've heard this stuff, and it's headed right for the White House. People scoffed when Rick Santorum pushed to stop contraception - Now the Republicans are all pushing a measure to let bosses deny coverage for birth control simply by saying they don't believe in it. Bosses get to decide.
All this from a party that wants to dismember Medicare, erase health care, kill the federal effort for better education. Romney's right, it's not about Big Bird. It's about the bird-brained notions you and the hard Right are running in this campaign on.
~ Chris Matthews on Hardball

Trump continued, "The check will be given within one hour after he releases all of the records ... he'll be doing a great service for the country if he does this."

"If he releases these records, it will end the question and indeed the anger of many Americans ... they'll know something about their president ... their President will become transparent ... like other Presidents."

3rd Debate: Horses and Bayonets and Battleships, Oh My!

From ABC News Debate Transcript
ROMNEY: Our Navy is old -- excuse me, our Navy is smaller now than at any time since 1917. The Navy said they needed 313 ships to carry out their mission. We're now at under 285. We're headed down to the low 200s if we go through a sequestration. That's unacceptable to me.

I want to make sure that we have the ships that are required by our Navy. Our Air Force is older and smaller than at any time since it was founded in 1947.

We've changed for the first time since FDR -- since FDR we had the -- we've always had the strategy of saying we could fight in two conflicts at once. Now we're changing to one conflict. Look, this, in my view, is the highest responsibility of the President of the United States, which is to maintain the safety of the American people.

And I will not cut our military budget by a trillion dollars, which is a combination of the budget cuts the president has, as well as the sequestration cuts. That, in my view, is making -- is making our future less certain and less secure.

OBAMA: Bob, I just need to comment on this.

. . . I think Governor Romney maybe hasn't spent enough time looking at how our military works.

You mentioned the Navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military's changed. We have these things called aircraft carriers, where planes land on them. We have these ships that go underwater, nuclear submarines.

And so the question is not a game of Battleship, where we're counting slips. It's what are our capabilities.
And so when I sit down with the Secretary of the Navy and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, we determine how are we going to be best able to meet all of our defense needs in a way that also keeps faith with our troops, that also makes sure that our veterans have the kind of support that they need when they come home.

And that is not reflected in the kind of budget that you're putting forward because it just doesn't work.
