Attorney General Jeff Sessions used the language of the Birther movement to slam a Federal Judge in Hawaii who ruled against Donald Trump's Muslim Ban. Calling the 50th state an "island in the Pacific," the AG also seemed to question the right of Federal Judges to uphold the checks and balances built-in to our government.
Hawaii became the 50th state of the union in 1959. The Birther movement, including President Donald Trump, often used the fact that President Barack Obama was born and raised in Hawaii to call into question his citizenship, even after Hawaii produced his valid long-form birth certificate.
From Huffington Post
Last week, Sessions attacked Derrick Watson, a U.S. district judge in Hawaii, for halting Trump’s revised ban on travel and immigration from six majority-Muslim countries.“I really am amazed that a judge sitting on an island in the Pacific can issue an order that stops the president of the United States from what appears to be clearly his statutory and constitutional power,” Sessions said on conservative radio host Mark Levin’s show.
Sessions refused to apologize, calling his remarks "a joke."

Jeff Sessions now seems to be saying his comment on judge "on an island in the Pacific" was a joke. pic.twitter.com/uYK7BbDpEC

@thehill Oh yes, Sessions is a real laugh a minute, a regular riot, the last of the great humorists. The joke is the Administration he works for.

Based on recent visit to #Hawaii, I can verify to #Sessions that, yes, it's a state. He's now leading example of ignorant #Haole stupidity.

@bethrenaldi @ericbradner @KFILE I bet he doesn't mind the Cayman Islands, the Seychelles, or Cyprus. It's only the islands that follow the Constitution that he doesn't like
