"13 Hours" #Benghazi Movie Bombs

I'm a huge fan of the TV comedy known as "The Office," and I am especially fond of the character Jim Halpert, played by actor John Krasinski as the love interest of receptionist Pam Beesley, the nemesis of beet farmer turned paper salesman Dwight Shrute, and the "best friend" of his boss, Michael Scott.

But sadly, Krasinski recently took a questionable role as a Libyan contractor caught up in the violence at Benghazi in the film 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. The director, Michael Bay, is famous for movies full of explosions such as Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It almost sounds like a joke from The Office, a spin-off of Michael Scott's "Threat Level Midnight." But the folks who made this are serious, man!





Just the title with the keyword "Benghazi" is enough to make true conservatives line up for tickets, right?It's like clickbait come to life for the far-right conspiracy crowd.

And indeed, many of these conservatives sat in dark theaters seething with anger towards their own Dwight Shrute - Hillary Clinton - then took out their phones and tweeted about it. Take that, Hillary!!! Only, you know, Ted Nugent also felt a need to threaten her life, and President Obama, also too.

















But not so fast - one ex-CIA Director says the movie is made-up fiction:





But whether the movie is true or not is irrelevant if it tanks at the box office. And by all accounts and measurements of cinematic achievement 13 Hours is a BOMB, in more than one way.

Amazingly the report from Congress on Benghazi finally puts to rest the idea that there was a "government conspiracy" to withhold armed forces from protecting the consulate there. Basically, there was no there there, as they say.

The final report, from Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Michigan, and ranking member Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger, D-Maryland, concludes there was no intelligence failure prior to the attack, no stand-down order to CIA operatives trying to go assist at the besieged consular building and found conflicting intelligence in the wake of the attack about the motive and cause, which were reflected in early public comments by the administration.
. . . he declassified version of the report attempts to knock down other accusations about the Benghazi incident and aftermath, finding no evidence of CIA employees being intimidated from testifying and also no indication the CIA presence in Benghazi was partially to secretly ship arms from Libya to Syria.
The September 11, 2012, attack left U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods dead, and immediately sparked controversy, with Republicans accusing the Obama administration of mishandling the attack and manipulating the talking points used to discuss it for political reasons.

Of course, the far right can't let go of their favorite rallying cry without a few more whimpers of poutrage.

Take Lindsey Graham, for instance. Please. He's been the King of Benghazi!!!!!!!!!!!! Madness for years now, and got reelected by stirring up his constituents with it. So where does he go from here? Well, that report just has to be wrong!

"I think the report is full of crap," Graham said on CNN's "State of the Union."
The senator insisted that members of the administration altered the Benghazi talking points after the attack.
"I'm saying that anybody who has followed Benghazi at all knows that the CIA deputy director did not come forward to tell Congress what role he played in changing the talking points," he said. "And the only way we knew he was involved is when he told a representative at the White House, I'm going to do a hard review of this, a hard rewrite."










And what about Darrell Issa, who led the Benghazi investigation in the House, and wasted millions in taxpayer money? Oh, well . . . he's lost his committee chairmanship and doesn't have much to say.













Will Fox News and the rest of the Far Right ever take back all the accusations on Benghazi? Don't hold your breath!

Benghazi Bust Turns Right-Wing Theories to Dust

Hooray for the Obama Administration! Not only did they vanquish Osama bin Laden, now they have captured the ring-leader of the Benghazi attacks! And guess what? The suspect is saying that the whole thing went down exactly as Susan Rice said in the original CIA/Petraeus talking points - he attacked the American consulate at Benghazi because of a video he had watched that was inflaming the entire Middle East at the time, a video made in the U.S. by Egyptian Coptic Christians and funded by Jewish donors making fun of the Prophet Mohammed.

So all the Right-Wing gnashing of teeth and screaming "Benghazzzzzzzzzziii" as a battle cry should be over. But wait - last night Hillary Clinton was grilled about Benghazi on Fox News, and there are now questions from the nutjobs about how "convenient" the story is from the suspect, and is he real, or merely a false-flag actor created by the evil Obama to boost Hillary and make the GOP look f***ing bonkers?

Well, they don't need that much help from Obama or Hillary to sound bonkers. So expect more outrageous and entertaining reactions from the far-right fringe, but the real story of Benghazi is pretty much over for the rest of the world, thanks to President Obama.

One of the suspected ringleaders of the 2012 terrorist attacks in Benghazi that killed four Americans, Abu Khattala is the first of the alleged perpetrators to be apprehended. He now awaits a transfer to the United States and a federal trial in the District.
U.S. officials said the joint Special Operations and FBI mission had been planned for months and was approved by President Obama on Friday. The Pentagon said that there were no civilian or other casualties and that all involved U.S. personnel had safely left Libya.
The administration provided few details about the operation itself, where Abu Khattala is being held or the timing of his first appearance in court. After news of the capture became public Tuesday morning, Obama, on a visit to Pennsylvania, said Abu Khattala “is now being transported back to the United States.” Administration officials said they expected him to appear in court here within days.

On the day of the attack, Islamists in Cairo had staged a demonstration outside the United States Embassy there to protest an American-made online video mocking Islam, and the protest culminated in a breach of the embassy’s walls — images that flashed through news coverage around the Arab world.
As the attack in Benghazi was unfolding a few hours later, Mr. Abu Khattala told fellow Islamist fighters and others that the assault was retaliation for the same insulting video, according to people who heard him.

Issa Wrong-Splains the Difference Between "Act of Terror" and "Terrorist Attack"

The President sent a letter to the president of Libya where he didn't call it a terrorist attack even when in real time the president of Libya was calling this a pre-planned Sept. 11 terrorist attack. So I think when you look at official correspondence from the President through the acting ambassador to the president of Libya, which came out in our hearing and was testified to under oath, the words that are being used carefully -- like you just said, act of terror -- an act of terror is different than a terrorist attack. The truth is, this was a terrorist attack, this had al Qaeda at it, this came over the wall very quickly, attacked and killed two people and then later two more hours later.

We’ll go through, not in front of the public but-- but in a nonpartisan way questions and answers and then obviously…

ABC published them today for the public as if they were a smoking gun, and all the Republicans in Congress who already had these things and have had them for months reported to be outraged by what was in them, shocked, , impeach, impeach!
They have had them for two and a half months now, and they never said anything about them before. Just today they decided it was a smoking gun, even though this has been long answered.

Benghazi Been-There-Done-That - Updated

Three State Department witnesses, including the former deputy chief in Libya, are scheduled to testify Wednesday before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee at a session certain to attract attention after recent disclosures from the panel's Republicans.

The hearing is the latest in a long-running and bitter dispute between the administration and congressional Republicans who have challenged the White House's actions before and after the Benghazi attack.

The scheduled witnesses were Mark Thompson, acting deputy assistant secretary for counterterrorism; Gregory Hicks, the former deputy of mission in Libya; and Eric Nordstrom, a former regional security officer in Libya who testified before the panel in October.

Yes, the attack on Benghazi was somehow engineered by the Obama Administration because somehow it was good for them. So if President Obama's not going to be impeached because he tanked the stock market, he will definitely be impeached because of Benghazi. Or actually, you know what? Republicans Create Fast and Furious Witch Hunt

Here is theory that some Congressional Republicans believe: The Obama Administration intentionally handed over automatic weapons to Mexican drug cartels, who they knew would commit violent acts, because they wanted to scare Americans into supporting stricter gun laws.
. . . Major Republicans ... endorse this conspiracy theory. Among those are Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), who is Chair of the House Oversight Committee and is heading up the investigation of Eric Holder. In an interview on FOX, Issa said, “very clearly, they made a crisis, and they’re using this crisis to somehow take away or limit people’s Second Amendment rights.”
. . . The NRA is driving the conspiracy theory paranoia though ads. The National Rifle Association is furthering the paranoia as a way to rally gun owners by running advertisements and a petition calling on President Obama to fire Eric Holder.

USA Today: House Votes to Hold Eric Holder in Contempt
WASHINGTON – A House oversight committee voted Wednesday to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt, marking an escalation of the long-running dispute between Republicans and the Justice Department over internal administration documents related to Operation Fast and Furious."
The 23-17 vote to hold Holder in contempt of Congress came as President Obama on Wednesday morning invoked executive privilege of certain documents related to the controversial botched gun-trafficking sting.

What's happening really is a Republican witch hunt. This is the Obama Administration version of Whitewater. The Republicans are going to spend millions and millions of dollars so they can come up with nothing, absolutely nothing. I'm surprised they haven't called in Ken Starr to help them yet.
It's a very simple situation here: The Obama Administration is trying to protect undercover agents in the field in a sting operation. They know that if they give the identities of those agents or other information like that over to the Republicans in the House it will be in the newspapers in twenty-four hours. It'll be putting people's lives in danger. Federal Agents lives in danger. Therefore they're not turning over some selective information....there's very little left to turn over. But the Republicans want more and more and more because they're just trying to make a circus out of this.
. . . I think it is already back firing on them. People are fed up with the Republicans. They understand the only thing they care about are tax cuts and giving the President a hard time — and I’m talking about tax cuts for the one percent....they just have the wrong priorities.

Issa's Backstory From NPR
Issa made his fortune building and selling Viper car alarms. He is the wealthiest member of Congress, worth as much as $450 million. In fact, it's Issa's voice on the popular alarm's signature warning to would-be thieves: "Protected by Viper. Stand back."
What's less well known is how Issa got into car alarms in the first place.
"For years I used to tell everyone that I went into it because my brother was a car thief. Then they found out when I ran for office my brother did spend time in prison as a car thief, and it ruined the whole joke I'd had for 20 years in business," Issa said during an interview with WhoRunsGov.
Issa himself was accused several times of auto theft. In the early 1970s, he and his brother were arrested after police suspected them of stealing a Maserati sports car from a dealership in Cleveland. Issa says the police mistook his identity, and the charges were later dismissed.
Another time, Issa was arrested and eventually pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon. Police found a handgun and a tear-gas gun — plus ammunition for both — in Issa's glove compartment.

California Representative and Slytherin House Master, Darrell Issa, has demanded key documents that Attorney General Eric Holder has brazenly withheld on the flimsy excuse that they would endanger undercover agents.
Folks, that's too convenient.
I think Holder is hiding a far more sinister truth. . . . very clearly, Obama started this gun tracking program in 2006 when he hypnotized George Bush.
Then he secretly ordered Attorney General Holder to order the Justice Department to order the ATF to order the gun shops to sell guns to Mexican Drug Cartels and then lose track of them thereby panicking Americans to gin up support for the draconian gun control measures that Obama has never produced.
Complicated. Yes.
The fevered ramblings of a syphlitic brain. Perhaps.
But, Occam's Razor says my answer is right or I will cut you with a razor.
