Trump's Cuckoo Press Conference

 photo Trump Crazy Presser.png

President Trump held a truly bizarre, impromptu press conference yesterday that took his insanity to new heights (or lows). I mean, it's hard to describe it without using Alice in Wonderland - Mad Hatter - Down the Rabbit Hole analogies.

From CNN
Trump held court during a news conference that lasted an hour and fifteen minutes, carving out a stunning moment in modern American political history. He displayed a sense of anger and grievance rarely vented by a President in public -- let alone one who has been in office for just four weeks.
"I have never seen more dishonest media, frankly than the political media," Trump said, later slamming leaks to the press from the intelligence community -- some of which led to the resignation of national security adviser Michael Flynn.
"The leaks are real. The leaks are absolutely real. The news is fake because so much of the news is fake," Trump said.

RNC Proclaims Trump is King

 photo Trump King.jpg

In honor of Christmas (maybe) the RNC has proclaimed that Trump is not only President, he is King of Kings, and comparable to Jesus.

Really. Read the RNC Statement:
WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chair Sharon Day released the following statement celebrating Christmas:

“Merry Christmas to all! Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind. Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King. We hope Americans celebrating Christmas today will enjoy a day of festivities and a renewed closeness with family and friends.

“Even as we celebrate, we must also remember those among us who are less fortunate. Many on this day are without hope, and need the kindness and compassion of those around them. It is our prayer we will rise to meet the material, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals all around us, and what better day is there to love our fellow man than today?

“As we open presents, enjoy Christmas dinner, and celebrate our own family traditions, we are mindful of our men and women in uniform. Many are stationed around the world today protecting our freedoms, and cannot be with their own spouses, children, parents, and siblings. We express the deepest gratitude for service that takes them away from celebrating with loved ones, and we ought to remember them in our thoughts and prayers not just on Christmas Day, but the whole year round.”

The backlash was instant and fierce:

From the Palmer Report:
It’s the “this Christmas” and “new King” in the same sentence that have gotten Priebus in trouble, in a seemingly obvious reference to Donald Trump currently being on the verge of taking office and effectively taking over the United States. But now he’s insisting to CNN that he was in fact referring to Christ, even though the RNC Christmas message he sent out last year made no mention of any “King” one way or the other.

Final Trump vs. Clinton Debate 2016

 photo Debate 3.png

And the whole country sighed with relief when it was over.

However, Trump gave a caveat when asked if he would accept the results of the election in November if he loses, as most polls tell us that he will:

Via NPR
When first asked, Trump refused to say yes, replying in part, "I will look at it [the election results] at the time." When pushed on the issue, Trump told Wallace, "I'll keep you in suspense."

Stephen Colbert let him have it on Trump's "suspense":

Oh my God. That's...uh...what's the word?
(Shows tape of Hillary saying "horrifying" during the debate)
That's it! Thank you! Thank you!
(Stephen blows kiss to Hillary/camera - crowd cheers)
I want to make sure I heard that correctly.
(Plays Trump saying "I'll keep you in suspense")
Oh! Oh - Suspense! Democracy's going to end with a cliffhanger. I guess we're all going to have to wait until November 9th to find out if we still have a country! If Donald Trump is in the "mood" for a peaceful transfer of power. Or if he's just going to wipe is fat ass with the Constitution!

The day after the debate, Donald doubled down, saying he would only accept a win, not a loss:

Via NPR
In front of an exuberant crowd Thursday in Delaware, Ohio, Donald Trump again addressed whether he would accept the outcome of the November election.

"Ladies and gentleman I want to make a major announcement today," Trump said, continuing, "I would like to promise and pledge to all of my voters and supporters, and to all of the people of the United States, that I will totally accept the results of this great and historic presidential election - if I win"

That Repulsive Trump Tape

 photo 093b9a91-df35-47b2-b971-e0d184ad06fa.jpg

A tape was released last week on which Donald Trump talked about assaulting women and grabbing them "by the p***y." Over the weekend his own party members began to flee the sinking Trump Ship, but that wasn't enough to force any regret out of the candidate. In fact, during his second debate with Hillary Clinton on Monday night, Trump waved it all off as "locker room talk," as if that makes everything okay.

Original Tape: Warning, Offensive Language

Via The Atlantic
“Grab them by the p***y. You can do anything.”
. . . The Trump video features a long list of offensive comments.
“I moved on her like a bi*ch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married,” Trump says. “Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything. She’s totally changed her look.”
As actress Arianne Zucker approaches to lead them on to the set, Trump continues, “I’ve gotta use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her. You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful—I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything.”

Trump and Bannon and Breitbart

Train Wreck photo train.jpg

The Trump campaign has pushed aside Putin-ite Paul Manafort and turned to the far-right (or "alt-right") wingnuts from Breitbart instead. They are vowing to use a scorched earth policy to defeat Hillary Clinton in November. Meanwhile, there is idle chatter of a "pivot" away from racism, sexism, and hate, but no real evidence that it is anything but talk. With Steve Bannon from Breitbart now in charge, there is little chance that Trump will ever change. But Bannon also comes with a host of excess baggage, such as anti-Semitism, voter fraud, and possible wife abuse, so how long will he last in Trumpland?

From 538.com
Stephen Bannon, executive chairman of Breitbart News, was the campaign’s new CEO. Pollster Kellyanne Conway was now Trump’s campaign manager.
... Bannon’s hiring is widely perceived as a turning point in Trump campaign strategy. Instead of Paul Manafort’s attempts at polishing his diamond-in-the-populist-rough candidate for the establishment Republican set, Bannon is likely to steer Trump toward more rough and tumble lines of attack....Trump called into question Clinton’s health more explicitly. “To defeat crime and radical Islamic terrorism in our country, to win trade in our country, you need tremendous physical and mental strength and stamina,” he said in Wisconsin. “Hillary Clinton doesn’t have that strength and stamina.”
...In a 2015 Bloomberg Businessweek profile, Bannon told a reporter of the site’s bravado, even in the face of contradictory facts: “We’re honey badgers. We don’t give a shit,” a reference to an ancient internet meme from 2011. It seems impossible to conclude that at least some of this spirit won’t seep into the Trump campaign.

From The New York Times
. . . Mr. Bannon was appointed a day after the recently ousted Fox News chairman, Roger Ailes, emerged in an advisory role with Mr. Trump. It was not lost on Republicans in Washington that two news executives whose outlets had fueled the anti-establishment rebellion that bedeviled congressional leaders and set the stage for Mr. Trump’s nomination were now directly guiding the party’s presidential message and strategy.

#GOP Meltdown in Progress

 photo GOP - Reince Titanic.jpg

Trump's constant weird statements, tweets, and gaffes are causing a crisis and meltdown inside the Republican Party that is almost unprecedented in American history.

His poll numbers are tanking, and staff members have been described as "suicidal" and looking to jump from the sinking ship. Republicans down-ticket are distancing themselves or endorsing Hillary Clinton - also an incredibly rare event in modern politics.

All this is a nice 55th Birthday for President Obama, not to mention the fact that Obama hit an all-time high on his approval ratings. And for all the Dems, the talk isn't just about taking the Senate back, but the House as well, not to mention the White House.

Trump Keeps Attacking Gold Star Family

 photo 3398eca6-c402-40e8-999c-42045f9e7f67.jpg

Donald Trump thinks he has made more sacrifices than a Muslim soldier who gave his life for this country. And he doesn't mind attacking the man's Gold Star Family to gain support among his racist voters.

And this has been going on now for a week.

From USA Today
Khan spoke on the final night of the Democratic convention, giving a moving tribute to his son before bashing Trump.
"If it was up to Donald Trump, he never would have even been in America," Khan said. "He vows to build walls and ban us from this country. Donald Trump, you're asking Americans to trust you with their future. Let me ask you, have you even read the United States Constitution?"
Khan held up a pocket Constitution and offered to lend it to Trump.
"You have have sacrificed nothing, and no one," he finished.
...In an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, Trump fought back against the idea that he hadn’t made any sacrifices.
"Who wrote that? Did Hillary's script writers write it?" Trump said. Khan declined the use of a speechwriter, according to Politico
"I think I've made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard,” Trump said.
Trump also went after Ghazala Khan, who stood beside her husband during his speech but did not speak. Trump implied that she may not have been allowed to speak because of her religion.

Tonight Trump's spokeswoman went on CNN and blamed Obama for the soldier's death in 2004. The only problem is that Obama wasn't President in 2004 - he didn't get elected until 2008! Idiot!

Trump Tosses Baby from Rally

 photo 6108a10b-3544-4de4-86fa-95fc95fda37b.jpg

Donald Trump has decided that nothing will be sacred in this election season - not even small babies. You know, Mitt Romney used to unintentionally make babies cry too, but he never banished them from his rallies for God's sake.

He sounds like a mean comic in a nightclub instead of a Presidential candidate. And who are the jerks laughing in the audience? Is this really happening in our country?

From CNN
"I love babies. I hear that baby cry, I like it," Trump said at a campaign event here as a baby could be heard crying in the audience. "What a baby. What a beautiful baby. Don't worry, don't worry. The mom's running around, like, don't worry about it, you know. It's young and beautiful and healthy and that's what we want."

But less than two minutes later, as the baby continued to wail, Trump took back his words.
"Actually I was only kidding, you can get the baby out of here," he said to laughs. "I think she really believed me that I love having a baby crying while I'm speaking. That's OK. People don't understand. That's OK."
