NBC's Chuck Todd Shills for Mitch McConnell Against Alison Grimes

Kentucky Zingerfest: Grimes Vs. McConnell at Fancy Farm

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NBC recently decided to replace the dreadful David Gregory as host of their Sunday "Meet the Press" show. Lo and behold, they chose Chuck Todd, who is so much like Gregory that news watchers everywhere predicted instant failure. Just a few weeks later, Todd is caught up in a political web that fulfills the expectations of his non-fans (including myself).
He has always been negative towards Democrats and especially President Obama, saying it "wasn't his job to sell Obamacare" and implying that the President failed when ACA was actually a roaring success. But this time he went on Morning Joe and said that Dem candidate Alison Grimes had "disqualified herself" from the job of Kentucky Senator by downplaying the fact that she voted for the President, as if he suddenly thinks the world of Pres. Obama - yeah, right. Of course, he doesn't explain how it would HELP Grimes to admit close ties to Obama in a state where she is vying for every crossover GOP vote. Every Democrat in a Red State has to do this at times to survive, so Todd put way too much emphasis on what she said.
The cringeworthy crew on Morning Joe discuss Alison Grimes as cringeworthy.
Now to be fair, many Dems also criticized Grimes for her position on that day, and even agreed with Todd - at first. But when it became clear that Grimes was just speaking like a careful politician, while Todd seemed to be shilling for McConnell, the picture was clear.
And believe me, the Mitch McConnell team saw a golden opportunity in Todd's dismissal of Grimes (almost as if it was planned, cough, cough), and immediately used the clip in one of his campaign ads.
From Washington Post
. . . the harshest critique probably came from "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd, who appeared on "Morning Joe" on Friday to discuss Grimes's weird reply. "I think she disqualified herself," Todd told host Joe Scarborough — an extremely strong statement.
Miss that segment? Well, don't worry, Kentucky. The campaign of Grimes's opponent, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R), will be putting it into heavy rotation with its new ad, titled "Disqualified."
Todd, meanwhile, denies that any of it matters, he's not partisan, he's not helping the GOP. And anyone who thinks so is not living in reality, apparently - or as Todd defines reality, whatever the Beltway pundits are saying at the moment. You gotta hand it to Todd - he is a consistent toady. But once again he is insulting our collective intelligence if he thinks he can at once be a "fair" judge of politics while bashing a major candidate trying to overturn a GOP leader in a Red State. He pounced on that one line and ignored how well Grimes is doing in every major poll (except on Fox News, of course, where they are always right - oh wait).
From Facebook via politicusUSA
 photo Todd-political-reality-485x111.jpg
Right - if people choose to vote for Grimes they are "cheerleading," but if Todd sends a great quote to McConnell he is being "realistic." Riiiight.
And he went even further, blaming Grimes herself and taking no responsibility for what he said:
Via Daily Kos
How does Chuck Todd respond to this journalistic mistake? He blames the candidate. "I think that is one of those situations where she invited this on herself," Chuck Todd said. "It feels like she had a lot of consultants whispering in her ear, 'Whatever you do don't give Mitch McConnell a line for a TV ad.'" Alison Lundergan Grimes did her part. Chuck Todd failed as a journalist. He became the news. He gave Mitch McConnell a line for a TV ad.
And a disclaimer: I'm not here to be "fair" to Todd. I think he is an ambitious warped individual who started out as a numbers guy and he's risen to a nice level of incompetence due to the Groupthink at MSNBC, where they routinely let go of any talented person who questions the GOP (Martin Bashir, Goldie Taylor, etc). I have been a critic of Todd on Twitter, and was recently blocked from retweeting or responding on his account right after having this conversation, which seems legit considering some of us saw Gregory as a loser for YEARS before NBC gave his job to Todd. Maybe they should listen to us now.
It seems as if Alison Lundergan Grimes is going to get the last laugh on both Todd and McConnell, as she is leading in the polls now. Which I'm sure he will say is incorrect, or just more cheerleading. Whatever!
Florida Gov Rick Scott Beclowned by #Fantrum
 photo desk_fan_rotate_hw.gif
Florida tried to have a debate of the real issues between Governor Rick Scott and his opponent Charlie Crist, but it was thwarted by a fan. No, not a human fan of either politician, but a mechanical fan under Charlie Crist's podium. The Scott campaign didn't want the fan to be there, so the Governor refused to come onstage for many minutes, leaving Crist to just smile at the audience while the question panel seemed in a quandary about what to do next. Finally Scott stumbled onto the stage with some lame excuse, but it was too late. The Twitterverse had coined #Fangate and #Fantrum, and the rest is part of Florida election history.
Basically, Governor Scott beclowned himself with a fan.
 photo 88f0597b-6308-400c-ae49-5c9b514158dd.png
From NPR
Viewers who tuned in Wednesday night to watch Florida Republican Gov. Rick Scott and former Gov. Crist (once a Republican, now a Democrat) instead saw an empty stage, with moderators explaining about "an extremely peculiar situation." Within seconds Crist strode out and spent the next several minutes lamenting Scott's absence, and how it was ridiculous to argue over the fan at the base of Crist's podium when Florida faced so many important issues, before Scott finally joined him and the debate began.
But what TV viewers didn't know was that Scott's campaign was so agitated about the fan that it was demanding the event be canceled and that the TV station providing the live feed not proceed with the broadcast.
"Why? Who knows? Your guess is as good as mine," Wendy Walker, head of one of the debate's co-sponsors, Leadership Florida, told NPR Friday. "They had a bee in their bonnets about the fan.... I said, guys, do you want the story to be the fan?"
From the Miami Herald
“It was a missed opportunity. It was very odd,” said Fort Lauderdale lawyer Ed Pozzuoli, a Scott ally and former Broward County GOP chairman who echoed numerous Republicans. “Gov. Scott has a record that he needs to extol at every opportunity, and the only thing being discussed now is the fan.”
. . . Scott didn’t show until 7:07. He told CNN’s Wolf BlitzerThursday that he was told not to go on stage by “organizers.”
Rather than staging a brief boycott, Pozzuoli said, Scott should have used humor to defuse the controversy: “He would have gotten a lot more mileage out of it,” he said.
Instead, the flap became a social media punch line and the talk of morning cable TV shows. On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, viewers saw the video and an incredulous Mike Barnicle asked: “What’s wrong with these people? The governor of Florida demanding no fan?”
Scott tries to Gov-splain, but Fails:
. . . Why should Crist get to cool himself with a fan, but Scott isn't allowed to control his
temperature by laying on a chilled rock?
Is Assassination the New GOP Talking Point?
 photo 3bec9938-7955-4070-9a16-d67e2ab76a35.jpg
The Right Wing is on an Assassination kick these days, and their favorite topic is shooting President Obama. I've seen two rants about it just today. I suspect this is a new Koch-approved and ALEC-funded GOP talking point.
Is that all they have? Or is it beginning to sink in that they may not win the Senate or the next Presidential race? They have to blame someone, and President Obama is always there to absorb all their hatred and bigotry.
This is scary since just recently a man with a knife recently stormed the White House, and another managed to shoot the Presidential residence several times while the Secret Service was out-of-order! So they have to take these threats seriously, maybe more seriously than in the past.
Keystone Cops from Hell: President Obama and the Secret Service
And some people who have called for assassination several times, and even been warned by the Secret Service need to be incarcerated. Like, yesterday.
Let's start with Ted Nugent. I've listed his threats before:
Ted Nugent Calls for Armed Revolution
Ted Nugent Wants Obama to "Suck His Machine Gun"
Nugent Threatens Mayhem Again
Here's what he wrote today on Facebook, via PoliticusUSA
 photo TedNugentRant.png
GUNRIGHTS HERO PROFESSOR JOHN LOTT blew the freedom haters & gungrabbers outta the water with his stats/facts broadside MORE GUNS = LESS CRIME suckerpunch truth bludgeon. Read the book, share the truth with your elected officials give away as many books to as many people as you can to de-sheeple the braindead masses with their peace&love disease. Make a donatoin [sic] to the CRIME PREVENTION RESEARCH CENTER to destroy the Obama/Holder/Clinton/Schumer/Pilosi [sic]/Boxer/Feinstein/Durbin/Bloomburgh [sic] propaganda jihad against our right to self-defense TRTKABA. JOIN THE NRA! Be the best American you can be. Freedom or their evil carcasses for traction back to it.
Yeah, blow them away. With guns. All our elected official. Just shoot them dead. It's the American way, according to Ted Nugent. The Left on Twitter immediately began to contact the FBI and Secret Service, while calling for Nugent to be arrested:
This next one is from a public servant in Missouri named Debbie Dunnegan Waters. She wants to know why the Military can't just, you know, assassinate the President? I mean, isn't that legal? I guess she's never heard of a "military coup." Not the brightest light, and this is MISSOURI after all, where the cops shoot unarmed men multiple times no matter what the situation. At the least, she should lose her local government job over this, don't you think? She is up for re-election as Jefferson County Recorder of Deeds. Apparently an education in political science is not part of the requirements of her job, LOL.
 photo BzlveAuCEAAk3wQ.jpg
From St. Louis Public Radio:
“What she posted is really troubling,’’ said Sean Nicholson, executive director of Progress Missouri, a progressive activist group that is displaying Waters’ Facebook item on its website. “What in the world does she mean by ‘action against our domestic enemy...supposedly the commander in chief?’ "?
Braxton Payne, who works for a local Democratic consulting firm, is credited with first publicizing Waters’ comments. He said he posted the link several times on Twitter because he was outraged with her Facebook comments, especially since she is an elected official.
From Talking Points Memo
"Something innocent and simple got twisted into a disaster because it's an election," she said. "I meant no ill intent toward the president. I meant no ill intent toward anybody."
Her Facebook account is private, but Dunnegan said she has not deleted the post and doesn't seem worried how it might impact her re-election bid.
"I think it could hurt it as much as it could help it," she said.
Great comments about this:
I realize Dunnegan is slow, but surprised she is so cognitively challenged; how can she suggest a "Coup" against Obama and then say, "No ill intent toward The President." (A good anti-psychotic might help her.)
It is amazing how often people who like to call themselves American Patriots so often advocate behaviors that occur only in despotic non-democratic countries and seem to have no real understanding of the Constitution they say they love except for the 2nd Amendment -- and the First Amendment as long as it is only THEIR speech they want protected.
um, this is, well, an offense that lands most people in jail and under psychiatric evaluation and heavy guard immediately, with little likelihood of release. So, let's imagine that a black man had said this. Does anyone think he'd still be free, or even alive?
But this is what they do. They get into small, local offices and wreck havoc. Liberals have got to start putting pressure on those city, county, district elections with fervor.
I served for 25 years on a active duty with the U.S. Navy. I retired in the mid-1990s. I can not believe the utter ignorance ignorance and stupidity of people like this woman. She writes that she can't understand why the military doesn't revolt and depose the President. I, like every other servicemember, took an oath to protect and defend the constitution. Overthrowing the fairly and duly elected President isn't part of the oath. I served under Presidents from Nixon to Clinton. I didn't like Nixon; I knew he was a liar and a crook. I didn't like how repair parts weren't always available to my techs because Carter had cut the DoD budget. I thought that Reagan was trigger-happy and practiced a bit of brinksmanship. Bush the ok was "eh, just ok" in my opinion. Clinton was a good President. But I never once, ever in any way, thought about overthrowing the President. I was dedicated to my shipmates and my ship. I served with pride, without politics.
The Leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, has not been seen in several weeks, fueling all kinds of rumors. Does he have a dangerous illness, and they fear letting the public know? Or is it true that he has a leg problem and doesn't want to be seen limping around? Has he been deposed by his generals? Is his sister running the country? No one seems able or willing to go on the record except anonymously.
Meanwhile, his top generals took a sudden trip to South Korea. Why? What does it mean?
From News.com.au
Kim, believed to be 30 or 31, has not been seen since September 3 when he attended a music concert with his wife in Pyongyang.
. . . Theories vary wildly, from those who say he is taking an extended rest period, to others who point to a leadership coup. Other explanations include a long list of possible illnesses, including broken ankles, gout and diabetes.
North Korean state media alluded at one point to the leader’s “discomfort” but one member of a top-level North delegation that visited South Korea last week insisted Kim had no health problem at all.
Anchorage police release the report on #PalinBrawl. Read it below and let the jokes begin!
Via Talking Points Memo
Anchorage Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Castro told the Alaska Dispatch News that prosecutors had decided not to pursue a case following the police investigation.
On Thusday, TPM obtained a copy of the report compiled by the Anchorage Police Department that contained summaries of interviews with witnesses about the Sept. 6 incident at a house party in Anchorage.
Palin Brawl Police Report
From Alaska Dispatch News
Daily described Bristol Palin as “heavily intoxicated and upset.” She told Daily that Klingenmeyer had pushed her to the ground and dragged her across the lawn after she had attempted to confront a woman about hitting her younger sister, Willow. Bristol said she was beginning to leave when she saw her brother attacked. She told Daily she “didn’t have any clue” whether she hit Klingenmeyer or not.
Klingenmeyer told Daily he was “angry that the Palins had showed up and were causing the problems,” and that he was considering filing charges but he later told another officer that he had changed his mind.
The Anchorage municipal prosecutor’s office will not be proceeding with charges in the case, according to Anchorage Police Department spokesperson Jennifer Castro.
Right-Wing Troll Todd Kincannon Says Kill the Ebola Victims
Wingnuts Blame Obama for Ebola Virus Because "African"
Todd Kincannon is a foul-mouthed twitter troll and a lawyer who brags that his family money will get him out of any trouble. He was also once leader of the South Carolina Republican Party, but they have distanced themselves (even though some of them probably love his nasty tweets).
Well, yeah - that guy thinks we ought to just kill the victims of Ebola.
Did I mention he is pro-life?
And really there's no end to his horribleness. Execution for sick people is just the tip of the shit-show with him. He will mention any body part of any human, particularly democrats, used in any vile way on his twitter account, and he's completely shameless about his racism and misogyny. When I read his tweets I am at a loss to understand why anyone would spend their days spreading filth all over twitter, but that's what he has been doing for years now. What a waste of time.
Stephen Colbert had some choice words for him:
My home state of South Carolina has a plan to eradicate this virus. As former executive director of the GOP and current middle school debate club treasurer Tom (Todd) Kincannon tweeted, "The protocol for a positive Ebola test should be immediate humane execution and sanitization of the whole area. That will save lives."
Finally, a way to save lives. Humanely execute the victim.
Of course the shotgun-blast to his chest could spread some bodily fluids. So to be saved, someone will have to compassionately murder whoever executed the patient, and that person of course will have to be sensitively bludgeoned to death by a fourth person, and so on and so on. Until the chain of humane homicide makes it back to whomever wonderful idea this was (shows pic of Todd Kincannon).
Wingnuts Blame Obama for Ebola Virus Because "African"
 photo 3155601.jpg
The Republicans - and even some far-left conspiracy nuts - just can't resist trying to connect President Obama and the Ebola Virus. After all, he is African, you know. Oh wait, he's African-American, maybe - have you checked his birth certificate lately? When will you lib-tards admit he's a totally black socialist Kenyan who eats bush meat and invented HIV and Ebola in his bid to destroy 'Merica? Doesn't that make perfect sense?
People shouldn't be so scared about this virus from Africa. He only has two more years of his presidency
~ Actor Steve Howley on a tweet he later deleted, reported by TMZ
I believe the failure to stop these planes from comin' into Sierra Leone, there could be politics involved in that too. Obama, familial connection with Africa - he has an enormous amount of, I think, core ties to the African continent. He's mindful of his own family history there.
~ Laura Ingraham on her talk show
I think very few people trust our government as being competent. Let's not kid ourselves. I mean with the five billion dollar website for Obamacare, which is still not working frankly and it's a disaster. And so many other things: Benghazi, wars... IRS.
. . . I mean we have virtually incompetent leadership. So why would anybody trust our government to handle this crisis? And to think that we're allowing people from West Africa to come in, and many of them are unchecked, come in and potentially cause a tremendous problem.
~ Donald Trump on Fox News
Ebola is a plot to kill the Military
and Benghazzzzzzzzziiiiii!!!
(Obama wants to send) 3,000 military into where they can get Ebola that they can bring back. The military is not trained to go catch Ebola and die. They’re trained to go in and kill the people that want to come back and kill us. The president’s priorities are all mixed up here.
 Red State: Pestilence and Bush Meat
. . . we have a person in the United States who flew back from Africa with Ebola. The White House neither wants to stop flights to Africa nor does it want to more closely monitor people coming into the United States from Africa via other countries.
At least this administration is consistent. It will let every one and every thing, including pestilence, cross our border. I bet, if we are patient, the administration will even place Ebola with a nice family somewhere in Middle America and given it government benefits.
We still have international ports of entry, passports and visa checks, shot records, the only problem is the Mexican boarder, we don't do squat there. Maybe that's how the mystery virus killing and crippling our kids came from ? Thanks Mr. president.
~ lerp on Red State
Here is one of the major problems. People from this part of the World love to bring in "Bush Meat" into the United States. Even though it is not allowed, an Officer must open up that suitcase and take it. That in itself may become problematic if people get fearful. It's just a fact. All suitcases should be emptied of any meat BEFORE it leaves an African airport, instead of bringing it here.
. . . Ebola is a animal related disease, mostly from eating bat meat. One person comes from Africa to with infected meat and feeds it to 10 family members, we now have 10 people with Ebola. The fact that this ONE man contracted Ebola before coming here is nothing compared to an infected bag of Bushmeat will be Major. The fact is, this is a more dangerous way to bring Ebola here.
Keystone Cops from Hell ~ Obama and the Secret Service - UPDATE: Pierson Resigns
Cling and Clang, the Useless Cops
 from the 70's kid series H.R.PufnStuf
(Jimmy was NEVER Safe on Living Island)
I'm speechless about all the stories about the Secret Service, who not only let an intruder into the White House last weekend, but who apparently have been asleep (or drunk) on the job for years. They are truly the Keystone Cops from Hell, and it just isn't funny.
For once in my life, I agree with Darrell Issa who raked the head of the Secret Service over the coals today in Congress.
For one thing, the Secret Service, and especially Director Julia Pierson, have been lying about every incident. Take the latest fence-jumper. All weekend the official story was that he didn't make it any further than the front hall of the White House - which was shocking enough. But actually, he ran through several rooms and nearly made it to the stairs that lead to the President's quarters!?! What. The. Hell?
UPDATE 10-1-2014
MSNBC: Secret Service Director Julia Pierson Resigns
Embattled Secret Service Director Julia Pierson resigned Wednesday following embarrassing missteps that placed the president and the first family at risk, the Department of Homeland Security announced.
“I salute her 30 years of distinguished service to the Secret Service and the nation,” Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said in a statement.
Joseph Clancy, a retired special agent, would return to the agency as interim acting director, Johnson announced.
From the Washington Post:
The man who jumped the White House fence this month and sprinted through the front door made it much farther into the building than previously known, overpowering one Secret Service officer and running through much of the main floor, according to three people familiar with the incident. An alarm box near the front entrance of the White House designed to alert guards to an intruder had been muted at what officers believed was a request of the usher’s office, said a Secret Service official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
And look at this:
And remember that shooting at the White House in 2011? Well, they lied about that too, or didn't take it seriously enough. My God! They didn't bother to investigate a bunch of bullet-holes in the White House windows? Think of the consequences!
USA Today
. . . for nearly 3½ hours Tuesday, Pierson was the focus of lawmakers' ire. In addition to the Gonzalez breach, they pressed the director on recent disclosures about a 2011 shooting incident that the Secret Service failed to recognize as an attack on the White House until days later.
...In a tense exchange with Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., about the shooting, Pierson acknowledged that evidence of the gunfire was not discovered until three or four days after the attack.Ultimately, a White House housekeeper discovered broken glass -- damage left by multiple rounds from a high-powered rifle -- along the iconic Truman Balcony.
"Can you tell me why a housekeeper found the evidence and your agents did not?'' Gowdy asked. "Why not search every inch of the White House? This is just processing a crime scene; this is not high math. Why wasn't it done?''
"It was not as thorough as it needed to be,'' Pierson conceded. The director later said she was particularly "troubled'' by recent reports about a young Secret Service officer who was on duty during the 2011 shooting and heard the gunfire. The officer told investigators reviewing the incident that she did not challenge her supervisors' order to disregard the incident as a false alarm because she feared possible criticism.
And there's even more! Last week the President was allowed onto an elevator in Atlanta with a so-called "security contractor" who had NOT been cleared by the CIA, and who had a gun nobody knew about! And this was in Georgia, which has a "guns everywhere" law. So, hello? DANGER! Somebody has been asleep at the wheel, and this has to stop.
From Carol Leonnig in Washington Post
The private contractor first aroused the agents’ concerns when he acted oddly and did not comply with their orders to stop using a cellphone camera to record the president in the elevator, according to the people familiar with the incident.
When the elevator opened, Obama left with most of his Secret Service detail. Some agents stayed behind to question the man and then used a national database check that turned up his criminal history.
