Gayle Trotter Says Weak Women Under Attack Need Assault Weapons

Photobucket

From Gayle Trotter, a senior fellow at the conservative Independent Women's Forum
Guns make women safer. Using a firearm with a magazine holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition, a woman would have a fighting chance even against multiple attackers.

Young women are speaking out as to why AR-15 weapons are their weapon of choice. The guns are accurate. They have good handling. They’re light. They’re easy for women to hold.

And most importantly, their appearance. An assault weapon in the hands of a young woman defending her babies in her home becomes a defense weapon, and the peace of mind that a woman has as she’s facing three, four, five violent attackers, intruders in her home, with her children screaming in the background, the peace of mind that she has knowing that she has a scary-looking gun gives her more courage when she’s fighting hardened, violent criminals.

And if we ban these types of assault weapons, you are putting women at a great disadvantage, more so than men, because they do not have the same type of physical strength and opportunity to defend themselves in a hand-to-hand struggle. They’re not criminals, they’re moms, they’re young women. And they’re not used to violence confrontations.

The peace of mind that she has, knowing that she has a scary-looking gun, gives her more courage when she’s fighting hardened, violent criminals. If we ban these types of assault weapons, you are putting these types of women at a great disadvantage–more so than men because they don’t have the same type of physical strength and opportunity to defend themselves in a hand-to-hand struggle.

This is the dumbest thing I've heard so far. Ask Ms. Giffords if she would have had time to whip out a AR-15 when she was attacked. Most gun violence happens in a split second, even the police who are the trained professionals have a hard time reacting.
~ Hawaii55 on Washington Post

Looks like someone wants to be the next Sarah Palin! But could you please leave us ladies out of your defense of Second Amendment rights? That is not a gun in our pocket and we are not happy to see you.
~ Jezebel

A young woman in her home defending her babies against three, four, five violent intruders? What kind of gun-nut fantasy is this? When does that ever happen? She might as well say that she's defending her babies from 20 shambling zombies.
~ amordecosmos on Raw Story

If their baby is crying, maybe they should put down the f***ing rifle and pick up the baby.
~ Flying Squid on Raw Story

She forgot to mention the approaching horde of zombies, the black helicopters hovering overhead, and the imminent threat to her bible and her 75-foot American flag, by god!
There she stood, proud and fierce, the wind of history stirring her long, dark hair. Before this intrepid mother, her screaming babies behind her, a hit squad of Black, Arabs, Mexicans and gays pounded at her door, their fangs dripping with an evil hunger to take a census. Momma Gayle Trotter held up her terrifying weapon, and the ravening horde fell back in fear.
And now a word from our sponsor, Big Guns R Us.
~ jimbo92107 on Raw Story

A woman with a baby in one hand and and AR-15 in the other, fending off marauding gangs of rapists. Put the comic books down, sweetie.
~ HoratioGalt on Huffington Post

We seem to have a lot of people who believe the zombie apocalypse is actually happening right now. Either that, or they think Red Dawn is a documentary. Good grief. Our gun problem is directly related to the damaged people who are so afraid of life, they can't envision life without a weapon at their side. These are fear based people - lacking self esteem and self confidence. We do not need these people making our legislative decisions. I'm sorry their parents didn't give them enough love - that IS sad. But now they need to take their damaged selves home while the healthy people solve problems.
~ Stanwyck on Huffington Post

Question: Where in the world do these people live that women are having to single handedly repel multiple attackers to defend their home and children? Have we entered the days of Mad Max and the liberal media is just keeping quiet?
The idea that we are just an AR-15 away from totally anarchy is absurd. And sitting in front of the United Stataes Senate and claiming women need fully automatic weapons to repel the advancing hordes makes you look foolish and diminishes the Pro Gun Rights people who aren't nuts.

Wayne LaPierre - Kids Need Security Blanket of Guns and Guards

Photobucket

It’s time to throw an immediate blanket of security around our children.
Wayne LaPierre of the NRA at the Senate Hearing on Gun Control

One only wishes [NRA Executive VIce President and CEO] Wayne LaPierre and his NRA board of directors could be drafted to some of these [school shooting] scenes, where they would be required to put on booties and rubber gloves and help clean up the blood, the brains, and the chunks of intestine still containing the poor wads of half-digested food that were some innocent bystander’s last meal.
~ From author Stephen King's ebook on Gun Violence

My problem with background checks is you’re never going to get criminals to go through universal background checks. All the law-abiding people . . . you'll create an enormous federal bureaucracy, unfunded, hitting all the little people in the country who will have to go through it, pay the fees, pay the taxes. We don’t even prosecute anybody right now that goes through the system we have. So we're going to make all those law-abiding people go through the system, and then we aren't going to prosecute any of the bad guys if they do catch one. None of it makes any sense in the real world.
~ Wayne LaPierre of the NRA

Mr. LaPierre, that's the point! Criminals won't go to purchase the guns, because there will be a background check! We'll stop them from the original purchase. You missed that point completely! And I think it's basic. (applause in the room)
~ Senator Dick Durbin, D-Illinois

Thank you for inviting me here today. This is an important conversation.
For our children. For our communities. For Democrats and Republicans.
Speaking is difficult but I need to say something important.
Violence is a big problem. Too many children are dying. Too many children.
We must do something. It will be hard but the time is now.
You must act. Be bold. Be courageous. Americans are counting on you.
Thank you.
~ Former Representative from Arizona, Gabby Giffords, opening testimony in the Senate Hearing on Gun Control

Actually...while we're having this hearing, and we certainly don't know the details, but in Phoenix, Arizona, there is another what seems to be possibly a shooting with multiple victims. And it doesn't seem like anybody's been killed, but the initial reports are 3 people injured . . . with multiple shots fired.

I want everyone to know that the Senate Armed Services Committee, of which I am the Ranking Member, will have a period to provide oversight and review. During that time, if necessary, we will be able to introduce legislation to stop any changes we believe to be detrimental to our fighting forces and their capabilities. I suspect there will be cases where legislation becomes necessary.
~ Senator Jim Inhofe, R-Oklahoma

What kind of a society puts its women on the front lines to risk what only men should be called on to risk? In countries ravaged by war, we consider it a tragedy when the battle comes to the backyards of women and children. Why would we thrust our own wives and daughters into that horror? My own instinct is to keep them as far from it as possible. Perhaps this move makes sense with an all volunteer force, but what if the draft is ever reinstituted? Are we really going to be the kind of people who press our wives and daughters to fight in combat?
~ Denny Burk, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky

Photobucket

This is not a quest for equal rights or opportunity, which is noble at its base; it is a campaign for sameness, an effort to craft a perverse worldview that manhood and womanhood are interchangeable-- in marriage, in parenthood, even in a foxhole.
God himself teaches otherwise.
. . . This does not require a Norman Rockwell portrait of the little ladies baking pies while the men-folk prop up their feet and watch sports (even though there is nothing wrong with that portrait).
~ Mark Davis on Townhall.com

The problem is to treat women equally, when they are not equipped the same as men to deal with what it means to be part of an infantry battalion -- to treat unequals equally -- is basically unfair.
It’s unfair to the women, it’s unfair to the men, it’s problematic for the readiness and efficiency and effectiveness of infantry battalions. It’s the policy makers who are to blame – not the women or the men. It’s the policy makers, people like Secretary Panetta. He makes a change like this and goes out to the West Coast. He doesn’t have to deal with the consequences.
~ Elaine Donnelly of the Center for Military Readiness

Once again, elections have consequences. Barack Obama has made it clear that part of his progressive agenda includes forcing gender radicalism down America’s throat, absent any input from Congress.
~ Arnold Ahlert on Front Page Mag

Feminist ideologues have pooh-poohed the notion that sexual attraction is a major problem when you put young men and women together in close quarters for long periods of time under the stress of combat situations. They act as if both males and females will resist temptation and if they don't that there will be no significant consequences anyway.
. . . But the consequences for love affairs gone wrong, rivalry among suitors or even the distraction that sex can provide from other duties are very different in a college setting than they are in the middle of battle.
Unit cohesion is a major factor in the success of any military objective. Inject sexual rivalry and tension into a small group of soldiers whose decisions mean life and death, and you are likely to get more of the latter.
~ Linda Chavez on Townhall.com

Women in Combat a Dangerous Experiment
This combat environment -- now containing males and females -- will place a tremendous burden on combat commanders. Not only will they have to maintain their focus on defeating the enemy in battle, they will have to do so in an environment that combines life-threatening danger with underlying sexual tensions. This is a lot to ask of the young leaders, both men and women, who will have to juggle the need to join and separate the sexes within the context of quickly developing and deadly situations.
Is the experiment worth placing this burden on small unit leaders? I think it is asking too much.

Ted Nugent is Revolting

Photobucket

Previous Posts:

Draft-Dodger, Gun Nut and Rocker Ted Nugent, calling for armed Revolution against President Obama
I’m part of a very great experiment in self-government where we the people determine our own pursuit of happiness and our own individual freedom and liberty, not to be confused with the Barack Obama gang who believes in we the sheeple and actually is attempting to re-implement the tyranny of King George that we escaped from in 1776.

If you want another Concord Bridge, I got some buddies.

Here is what's wrong with America today. We have a president, and everybody better write this down, and memorize this. The president of the United States goes to the Vietnam Memorial Wall and pretends to honor 58,000 American heroes who died fighting communism and then he hires, appoints and associates with communists. He pretends to pay honor to men who died fighting communism, and then he hangs out with, hires and appoints communists.

He is an evil dangerous man who hates America and hates freedom. And we need to fix this as soon as possible.

None of those wild animals he's so proud of shooting with high powered rifles were shooting back. The American military has 'real' assault rifles and machine guns, not to mention attack helicopters, etc... The right wing cowards wouldn't stand a chance.

Do we have to go over this again? Nugent and his buddies would be utterly wiped out. Full stop. Actually, they might as well be threatening to ride velociraptors into the White House, armed with magic wands and accompanied by Space Monkey Gleek. It’s just that ridiculous. The whole notion of an armed revolt and secession from the United States failed miserably in 1865, and the revolutionaries at that time were headed by skilled West Point commanders like JEB Stuart and Robert E. Lee who directed massive armies. These gun nutjobs today have — who? — octogenarian D-list electric guitar player Ted Nugent and a gaggle of his redneck disciples. Good luck, boys.
~ Bob Cesca on The Daily Banter

Ted Nugent is making a threat to the President and no one is talking about it because they continue to undervalue the life of a Black person. This man would be made an example of and lock in jail if the President was white. He would be afraid to make such threats if that was the case. So he feels as though no one will do anything to him. He can rile up as many crazies as he wants and not be punish for it. This man along with Donald Trump and Shawn Hannity is the face of racism.

"With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans," Clinton responded, raising her voice at Johnson, who continued to interrupt her. "Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk last night who decided to kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, Senator."
Clinton continued, defending the State Department's efforts in the wake of the assault. "Honestly, I will do my best to answer your questions about this, but the fact is people were trying their best in real time to get to the best information," she said.

From MSNBC
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told Clinton that if he were in Obama’s shoes, he would have fired her for what he described as her “culpability for the worst tragedy since 9/11.”

“Had I been president at the time, and I found that you did not read the cables from Benghazi, you did not read the cables from Ambassador Stevens, I would have relieved you of your post,” said Paul during the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing Wednesday. “I think it’s inexcusable,” he continued.

. . . “Their lives could have been saved had someone been more available, had someone been aware of these things, more on top of the job,” said Paul.

Almost immediately after the hearing, Paul began to face heavy criticism himself for what some viewed as too brash an approach.
“I can’t remember another time during a hearing when a senator referred to himself, ‘If I were president,’” said NBC Capitol Hill correspondent Kelly O’Donnell on Andrea Mitchell Reports Wednesday. “You do hear it on the campaign trail. That is really going beyond what we would normally hear.”

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer pointed out that the intelligence failures and casualties involving the invasion of Iraq seemed like a greater blunder.

“Yeah, I agree with you,” Paul said. “There is no comparison to a beginning of a war in Iraq as well as the war in Afghanistan. The tragedy of those wars is of a different scale, and I guess we are talking more about a diplomatic mission than we are talking about a beginning of the war.”

But he insisted Clinton was still culpable for ignoring intelligence reports.

From ABC News
. . . Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., asked why the secretary of state herself did not appear in Rice's place to give those televised explanations to the country.
"Well, I have to confess here in public [that] going on the Sunday shows is not my favorite thing to do. There are other things that I prefer to do on Sunday mornings," Clinton replied. "And I did feel strongly that we had a lot that we had to manage, that I had to respond to. And I thought that should be my priority."

Best Quotes of Inauguration Day

ObamaLooksBack-Text

Obama's Quiet Moment

Here is the moment. It was not on the program. It was not on anybody's schedule. We did not know it was coming. And it was not spoken into any microphone. . . .
"I want to take a look one more time. I'm not going to see this again."
The President looking in one direction, while everyone else looking toward him was moving past him.
That is the moment when you see the man inside the trappings of the office. When you see the way that any of us might feel a little overwhelmed in human terms by the importance of your office. The singular scale of the importance of that particular office. That was a cool moment.
Days like this are special because of what is scripted and preordained about them. The least suspenseful things on days like this are the most important things on days like this. Things that display the ritual of how we peacefully and agreeably move between Presidencies in America. Days of ritual are days of foregone conclusion. They are scripted. Which makes it all the more amazing when there is not a script. Like that moment after his Inaugural Address when we saw the President turn to be as amazed to see that crowd as that crowd was to see their President.
~ Rachel Maddow on MSNBC

As if a cold Monday in January wasn’t dreary enough, today has been dubbed ‘Blue Monday’, the most depressing day of the year.`
~ Steve Doocey on Fox and Friends

Fox on Obama's Speech:
Chris Wallace: This was an unyielding, uncompromising espousal of a liberal agenda.
Brit Hume: This is utterly bereft of an outreach to the opposition.
Mark Levin: I think there’s a lot of perverse thinking that goes on in Obama’s mind, radical left-wing thinking. He was indoctrinated with Marx and Alinksy propaganda.

I thought it was an amazing speech, and historically very important. This was really Obama unbound. And I think what's most interesting is that Obama basically is declaring the end of Reaganism
~ Charles Krauthammer on Fox News

Ladies and gentlemen, the late Alex Haley, the author of Roots, lived his life by these six words: "find the good and praise it.” Today we praise the American tradition of transforming, or reaffirming, immense power in the inauguration of the President of the United States. We do this in a peaceful, orderly way. There is no mob. No coup. No insurrection. This is a moment when millions stop and watch. A moment most of us always will remember. It is a moment that is our most conspicuous and enduring symbol of the American democracy. How remarkable that this has survived for so long in such a complex country when so much power is at stake. This freedom to vote for our leaders and the restraint to respect the results.
~ Senator Lamar Alexander, R-Tennessee, Co-Chair of the Inaugural Committee

"I don't care if you're a Democrat, Republican, a Mugwump or whatever. This is a day when you have to say 'What A Country!'
~ Dan Rather

He went big. He went lofty. He went ambitious. And he went unmistakably liberal.
~ Jonathan Karl on ABC News

I feel like I should pinch myself right now, Wolf. I can't believe I have this vantage point of history in the making.
~ Jim Acosta of CNN while covering the President and First Lady walking down Pennsylvania Avenue parade route

That was really historic. To hear the President of the United States mention the word Stonewall in the same sentence as Selma, in the same sentence as Seneca Falls, certainly for gay and lesbian Americans, that is a stunning statement and a real leap forward for gay and lesbian Americans.
~ Anderson Cooper on CNN

I just want to say, there were moments in this speech, but there was a theme, we the people go back to the Founders, think of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. There was an uplifting, beyond rhetoric, there was a theme of our job is not finished until our gay brothers and sisters have equal rights under the law. This was a bigger moment, I think, than a lot of people initially gave it credit for. I just think, with re-election, he is thinking much more broadly and much more inclusively, and I was very moved, just being up there in that frozen crowd, looking out over the masses.
~ Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC

Gigantic. And he connected it all to the patriots of 1776 that we keep widening in our democracy. And he made those places almost like battlefield spots in American history, like Oxford, Mississippi, or Normandy or Iwo Jima. And it's an iconic speech.
. . . I thought it was a marvelous speech and it's brave and it's bold and I think it's going to play well in history.
~ Presidential Historian Douglas Brinkley on CNN

Reminds you of another second inaugural: Lincoln’s. So much of Lincoln in that speech, from the Gettysburg address to the second inaugural itself. I thought what was interesting was an attempt to draw a balance – of course, he’s a man of the progressive side – but he tried to draw a balance there between a government ruled by an elite and then a government ruled by a mob both being a problem.

MSNBC Discussion During Inagural Coverage
Rachel Maddow: Mitt Romney did not attend today, and that's not unprecedented - Michael Dukakis did not attend when he was defeated by George H.W. Bush. But Mr. Romney didn't attend and put out word through people close to him that he wasn't even planning to watch today, that he was going to be home in La Jolla, and wasn't even planning on participating in that degree. Do you think that's significant or just a personality point?

Lawrence O'Donnell: I think going to the extent of saying 'and I'm not going to watch' - we don't actually have to know that. (laughter) I don't think anyone's asking what you're doing. (more laughter) You know, I think the question is 'Are you here or are you not here?' ... It's an understandable choice to not come here. I get that, especially if you're not a man of Washington government. You know, this is a former governor, and so he didn't really have a presence in Washington. So I get that.
But I don't get why you'd have to take that extra step and say 'I'm not gonna watch.' I, by the way - I have no problem with him not watching. I can understand that from a human level, losing an election like that - I get it. But this is not the moment in which someone who participated in the greatest drama in our national politics ... should have announced that about himself.

Rachel Maddow: (laughs) Making himself the story.

A certain dread has descended upon members of the Grand Old Party, who must now bear witness to a grand old party that is not theirs to celebrate. Indeed, Democrats will bask in the glow of victory in the next 72 hours as the presidential inauguration takes over and wrests the nation’s capital into submission. And Republicans? Dismay could prompt an exodus to ski resorts, indoor golf ranges and movie theaters this weekend.

"I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear," he began, using the president's full name. Obama repeated the oath, with his left hand on a Bible, held by his smiling wife.

Roberts, not wanting to repeat the mistake of 2009, looked down at his card and read most of its words, which Obama repeated, promising to faithfully execute the office of president of the United States. Only at the end, including the final phrase "so help you God," did Roberts keep his head up to maintain eye contact with the president.

After concluding the oath, the two men smiled and shook hands, visibly relieved. Roberts congratulated the president and Obama thanked him. The whole procedure lasted less than one minute. No mess-ups, no flubs.

NRA Gun Appreciation Day Same Weekend as Inauguration ~ W/ Latest Shooting Updates

gun-appreciation-day2

CBS News
Groups are calling on gun rights activists to go to local gun stores, gun ranges or gun shows in order to send a message to the president and Congress.

“The Obama administration has shown that it is more than willing to trample the Constitution to impose its dictates upon the American people,” “Gun Appreciation Day” chairman Larry Ward, president of Political Media, Inc., said in a press release. “If the American people don’t fight back now, Obama will do the Second Amendment what he has already done to the First with Obamacare – gut it without a moment’s thought to our basic constitutional rights.”

The groups are hoping to reach up to 50 million Americans ahead of “Gun Appreciation Day” which will take place two days before Obama’s inauguration.

“We have never had a president who so callously disregards the Constitution, Congress, the courts, and the will of the American people,” Ward said in a statement. “And that’s why this outpouring of public support is so important for our constitutional safeguards to keep and bear arms. If, as this president claims, the American people are at risk from murderous rampagers, the logical solution is to arm, not present a docile target.”

Update On Gun Show Shootings From USA Today
In Indianapolis, police said a 54-year-old man was injured when he inadvertently shot himself while leaving a gun show. Emory L. Cozee was loading his .45-caliber semi-automatic when he shot himself in the hand as he was leaving the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife show at the state fairgrounds, state police said. Loaded personal weapons aren't allowed inside the show. Cozee, of Indianapolis, was hospitalized for treatment. Police say the shooting was accidental and no charges will be filed. And in Ohio, a gun dealer in Medina was checking out a semi-automatic handgun he had bought Saturday when he accidentally pulled the trigger, injuring his friend, police said. The gun's magazine had been removed from the firearm, but one round remained in the chamber, police said. Police Chief Pat Berarducci said it appears the bullet ricocheted off the floor and struck the friend in the arm and leg. The man was taken by helicopter to a hospital 30 miles north in Cleveland, Berarducci said. His condition wasn't immediately known.
From CNN
The most casualties came at the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh, North Carolina, where attendees bolted -- with at least one woman wiping out in the frenetic scene -- when gunfire rang out around 1 p.m., as seen on video captured by CNN affiliate WRAL. Police later explained that a a 36-year-old man from Wilmington, North Carolina, was unfastening the case of his 12-gauge shotgun on a table near the show entrance when it accidentally discharged. The man planned to sell the shotgun at the show. The bird shot ended up injuring three people. One was a sheriff's deputy, who suffered a slight injury to his hand and was treated and released at a local hospital before returning immediately to work, said Joel Keith, chief of police of the North Carolina State Fair. A 54-year-old woman from Benson, North Carolina, was being treated for a wound to her right torso at a local hospital, and a 50-year-old man from Durham, North Carolina, was treated for an injured left hand, Keith told reporters. "I want to emphasize that this is an accident," Keith said.
